I was pregnant and very sensitive to secondhand smoke. I would never sit (sleep) inside with someone smoking. It was raining all weekend and I was inside most of the weekend hanging out or sleeping. No wine tasting for me! My husband wanted the option of internet access since it was raining the whole weekend and we would be spending a lot of time indoors. The owner had been parked smack dab in the middle of our first dinner and no closer to gaining us Internet access after several hours and some house guests felt funny having a stranger in the dining room/living room among this tight knit group of friends so one member of our group took it upon herself to ask her to leave. No internet and no on-line poker for hubby all weekend, much to his dismay!

Great accommodations for a group of our size (12 couples, I think) in two lovely houses with major amenities. So we had communal meals with everyone in the large house, cooked dinner both nights we were there. Evidently this was considered "a party" by the owner, who did ding the group for part of the deposit. Frankly... I think she was just cranky because she spent a couple of hours there on Friday night trying to get internet access to work (unsuccessfully). It's really too bad that we will NEVER go there again. As I said lovely, but be careful if you accidentally break one of the RULES by mistake!

The estate is located on the banks of Russian River and only a pleasant 20 minute walk away from Downtown Healdsburg. We arrived after dark to find our friends around the fire pit enjoying some incredible barbeque. I was pretty impressed even with my first walk through of the property in the dark! There are a series of elegantly themed cottages surrounding a main Queen Anne Style home. Whoever decorated this place is a genius. Every corner has a unique detail to discover! There is a rooster house with all kinds of adorable pieces and an Oak house with a tree through the kitchen! The spread out cottages allowed for privacy and serenity. I've never slept better! In the morning, I woke up surrounded by the electric colors of fall. I also noticed that the estate was surrounded by all kinds of colorful fruit trees and vegetation. None of us wanted to leave! Sweet sweet escape. It only took us an hour to get back to San Francisco! I can't wait to go back!

We had 19 of my extended family staying there for a wedding, but with multiple buildings, there was room to spread out so we weren't always in each other's hair. And with a heated pool, ping-pong table, (gas) fire pit, horseshoes, grill, patio+decks (plus frisbee golf in the works), there's something for everyone to do. Truly a wonderful getaway and special treat for my sister's wedding weekend. My two small tips for the owners: 1) buy a few pool toys like noodles and inner tubes, and 2) put a small fence around the frog pond so kids can't fall in.

What makes SingleThread so special is its beautiful celebration of seasonality, with exceptional farm-to-table ingredients woven together through delicate, highly refined Japanese flavors. Every course has a distinct point of view, with a remarkable restraint that allows the natural flavors of each ingredient to shine rather than be overshadowed. My favorite part is the opening course, an enchanting, almost whimsical experience that feels like foraging through a forest, discovering exquisite little bites tucked into a stunning woodland-inspired presentation. It's as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the palate! The non-alcoholic pairing is equally delightful, thoughtfully crafted to complement the subtle nuances of the tasting menu. SingleThread is a masterclass in elegance, creativity, and restraint. Three visits in, and it continues to leave us in awe!

I did feel there was perhaps a bit too much focus on tomatoes (although it's probably because I don't like tomatoes lol) but even the tomato dishes were good! The first course was especially impressive with all the greenery and so many delicious bites. Service was solid (everyone seemed to know our name!) although I felt they didn't truly go above and beyond for the price point. Still, no complaints there. The only thing that we didn't like were the desserts. The majority of the desserts were just okay, none were incredible, and one of the desserts I couldn't take more than a tiny bite of (I hate goat cheese and the entire dessert was very overpowering goat cheese). Also, how I wish they gifted us a menu so we could put it on our fridge! Instead you have to buy a menu.

The grounds of the property are extremely beautiful and full of picturesque flowers and gardens. The rooms are spacious, perfectly decorated, not a speck of dirt and equipped with everything you need from toiletries to a mini-fridge and even some freshly baked cookies/hand written note to go along with check-in. The star of the show (if you don't count just the beauty of this place) is the breakfast offered each morning. You're greeted by some of the friendliest people and provided an over the top experience to start your day. Fresh coffee, yogurt, juices, breads, scones and a full meal are provided for you each AM. All these fresh and delicious items are served on stylish china to add a little something extra to the experience. The location is exactly in between the town and the wineries. Nothing was more than a ten minute drive away and you only need to take one road to get there. I had to Yelp this awesome place because we wouldn't have found it searching all the usual channels…read morefor B&Bs in Sonoma/Russian River (i.e. Farmhouse Inn, Healdsburg Inn, etc.). This place is a fabulous hidden gem about ten minutes from downtown Healdsburg and only a few minutes from nearby wineries. The cottage is situated at the end of a long driveway, overlooking rolling hills that you'll find in this part of Sonoma. It's a clean and comfortable home converted from an old barn, where the owners now live. And they've done an amazing job updating the one-bedroom with a new bath, modern appliances, a large flat screen tv, and even a mini-kitchen stocked with local croissants, jams, and organic teas... But what got me is that unlike so many wine country B&Bs that look cute online and end up feeling corporate in person, the place doesn't feel contrived or pretentious at all -- it's relaxing, romantic, and rustic (how's that for alliteration) in a very real way, which is exactly how a weekend in wine country should be done. Also, gotta love how spacious and warm the place is, even in November (our favorite time to do wine country...). It was just two of us this weekend, but the place could easily host up to 6 with the two queen-sized futons in the living room mean. If you're able to, check out the cute gardens full of local produce all around the home and if you're lucky, you may meet the most awesome Yellow Lab ever. Did I mention the owners even make their own organic honey -- how sweet is that?

I definitely reiterate the sentiments from the first reviewer. This place is a find!…read more It's the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of city life - relaxed, quiet, and quaint. Whether you're asleep in the ridiculously comfortable bed, munching on croissant and jam on the breakfast patio, or meandering through the adjacent gardens, this is a serene base for a Sonoma getaway. The cottage has the amenities and space to host a family or pair of couples for a week-long vacation, but it's convenient location and reasonable price are also perfect for a couple just looking to spend a weekend wine tasting and enjoying idyllic "downtown" Healdsburg. As for dinner, don't miss Willi's in town!
