Went in to buy a gun for the first time after going shooting a handful of times with some friends, and the employees were all super understanding. They helped me find the right gun for me and offered just the right amount of advice/info for a first time gun owner. When i went back for pickup after my CA waiting period/background check, the other employee that helped me was just as considerate and accommodating. I'm a long time hunter but a novice at building a rifle. The staff was patient, walked me through all of the details of building my AR and keeping it compliant. I might have been able to save a buck by shopping online but in the end, the piece of mind and knowledge I received was more than worth the dollar or two that I might have saved. Also, since CA has become so ridiculous on ammo purchases, I'll be using them as a source for instore and online ammo. read more

Went there for a private party transfer. They required the SELLER to have a Firearms Safety Certificate. The seller! This makes no sense and is not requried. They had some silly reason but I think it was just one more reason they don't want to waste time with transfers. Looked like a nice shopt and they had a chance to gain a customer. My wife and I have been shopping here for quite some time and I have been meaning to leave a review. They have the best assortment of product in the area. Not only do they carry firearm accessories but they carry the tools for assembling them as well that you don't find at any other local shop. The place is nice and clean. Brendon has always been super cool. Whether I was stopping in to buy something or just stopping by with a question, the staff has always been more than helpful. It's nice to have a shop like this locally as I know other people have to make a commute to find a place like this. I'm glad to see they have a positive presence on Yelp. I saw they only have one bad review so far. In response to that review....I don't remember Firearms Unknown being a pawn shop. If a employee and a customer were to engage in private deals, I don't think that should reflect the business. If I was looking to do a private deal with a certain employee, I would probably keep that business private with that employee and would not discuss that with other employees of the business. I would also not publicize certain firearms that a employee has shared with me as the business is called Firearms Unknown and that was between you and the employee. I would not want my Firearms publicized without my consent. Obviously this customer feels they were treated unfair but there's always two sides to a story. I hope this shop keeps up the good work for a good cause and we will continue to support them ! read more

I've been here several times the past few months window shopping, and the staff seems very knowledgeable every time I'm in. I had some amateur questions to ask them my last time in and the employees went out of their way to get me answers. I probably touched every upper they had multiple times and asked several dozen questions. The female employee was super-attentive and made sure I didn't walk away with any questions unanswered. The place to go for all your 80% needs. They have a ton of fully assembled uppers, a ton of 80% lowers all in stock. I found them when my LPK was missing one stupid piece. This place is great. It is pretty new, i think they opened this week. It was easily accessible, as it is right off the 5 fwy, on oceanside blvd. I was driving by and saw their sign, the AR caught my eye. The store looks really clean and organized and seemed to have a ton of stuff for a shop that just opened. They really are an AR-15/AR-10 and 80% super store. Most shops don't carry 80% lowers and frames, and this shop is dedicated to them. It is pretty cool, you walk in and walk out with everything you need to build your own gun. They don't have just AR stuff they have a bunch of Glock, 1911, and 10/22 parts and lowers as well. So the selection is pretty broad. What I really liked is that they also sell all the tools and accessories you need to work on your guns. In fact they had a very large selection of tools. Finally, in looking at their optics, they have a bunch of high end optics, scopes and sights and their pricing on this stuff was really low compared to what i've seen online. Firearms Unknown is in a large and clean location with tons of parking. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. They definitely help you with anything you need. Tons of product so there is a lot of variety. They specialize in AR components but also have 1911 parts, some gear and a ton of other firearm accessories like sight, lights etc. Apparently they will begin selling ammunition soon. They are still relatively new to the location so the foot traffic isn't crazy yet either. read more
