Where things were a bit less wonderful were, from my point of view, the challenges with communication. There were a number of these and the last one is the reason for 4 rather than 5 stars. A week after the utility company gave the final okay, there has been zero contact from Banner. Not a "how are things going?" nor a "thanks for working with us" or even an attempt to sell us on their maintenance plan. :) Today, the final payment request arrived, from a no reply email no less. Maybe I asked too many questions or it was the fact that I had an issue with the payment schedule not being made clear?

Our initial contact was…read morewith Dave Campbell, who took some information over the phone and then came to our house for a preliminary meeting and inspection, during which he reviewed our current electrical usage, the siting and suitability of our house for solar, and our current wiring and metering system. Dave was very pleasant to work with. He was able to answer all our questions and was very knowledgeable about the available federal tax credits and state and local incentives for which we might be eligible. He then created a detailed preliminary design and proposal which he came to the house to discuss with us. We were able to confirm the economic analysis and its conservative assumptions There was some question as to whether we would be able to qualify for the incentive program with the Jefferson County Public Utility District, since that program was approaching its cut-off cap. We really appreciated how Dave was up front and honest about this, not promising anything he didn't think we could count on (although we are still hoping to be qualified for the incentive--we should know soon!). The system should pay for itself even without the state incentive, so we decided to proceed. The final contract was lower than the initial proposal. John and Peyton, who installed our system, were very pleasant, considerate, and efficient (and extremely sweet to our rather noisy little dog). They arrived and finished the job ahead of schedule. After the system was installed, Cascadia Solar arranged for all the follow-up inspections and for Jefferson PUD to install the new meters and replace the old transformer, all of which took place very quickly. Cascadia Solar handled all the paperwork, sending us anything we needed to complete by email so we could scan and return it. Then Dave came out to the house to show us how to use the Internet program that allows us to monitor the output of our system on a daily and long-term basis, as well as to check how each individual solar panel is functioning. In conclusion, if you are considering installing solar on your house or business, we would highly recommend Cascadia Solar.

Service was extremely slow, though everyone is nice and friendly. Maybe it will eventually work properly, but as we enter storm season, it's looking pretty iffy. The fault may be with the components chosen (Solar Edge), and not with A and R, but that does not help me. I now am afraid I will end up paying for it twice, as I need to find someone else to come in and fix or replace everything.

I did my research on the purchase and skimmed a couple of videos about the installation. The big day arrived and I pretty quickly realized I was going to need a professional. So I set up a detailed project in yelp, and had a contractor from about 40 miles away send an estimate in just a couple of minutes. Time and distance were going to cost an arm and a leg, so I let him know Id get back to him. A bit later I had another hit. It was Marc with Evolved Off Grid, and he was immediately available due to a shipping delay affecting the job he was on. AND his callout and hourly charges were *very* reasonable. I have never felt so lucky. He was on my doorstep in about an hour, and the install was on. It was obvious by the get-go that Marc is very knowledgeable with a ton of experience. He worked quickly and efficiently, and was able to actually converse without slowing down. When we ran into electrical issues, Marc took care to isolate the issue and find a solution. After determining the issue was a faulty connection on the unit, he was able to quickly resolve it. He kept his work area organized, had ample tools/supplies in his vehicle, and was careful to clean up afterwards making sure to leave behind any extra piping and connectors from his purchase at the store. When calculating the final bill, Marc capped the final fee at 3 hours. Due to no fault of his own, it went past this and he diligently found a solution, but didn't feel right charging the full amount, knowing it would create a hardship for us. He is a *good* man, and we are so grateful. So by now, you can see why we unequivocally recommend Marc and Evolved Off Grid for anything RV. His high level of expertise and integrity were a welcome relief to what surely would have been the install-from-hell had I attempted it on my own. Oh. And here is the icing on the cake: If there are any issues that arise with the unit's installation, he will happily come out and remedy the situation free of charge. Yes, you read that right. We compared Ecotech's bids to those of three other companies, and Ecotech won on total capacity, price per watt, and being easy to deal with. The install crew were great to have around, they kept us apprised of their progress, always completing each step on time. The permitting process was 100% taken care of by Ecotech, as was contacting PSE to have our system added, our net metering agreement, and having our meter swapped out. There are some sketchy practices in the solar industry, from solar loans with massive fees, to high pressure sales tactics. Ecotech avoids all of these. No pressure, no crazy loan schemes. At the end of the day, we have an amazing system that will provide 100% of our power for years to come.
