Appliance service insurance assigned them to my problem. They failed to contact me within a week (supposed to be by the next business day). I tried to call them and they didn't even answer their phone. The insurance company tried to call them and got the same result. They then advised me to find a contractor on my own, which I did with good results. Having heard from these people I understand what was happening. I told them the following: I read your response to my review. I wish I had known what you just told me earlier. I would have been more lenient in my comments. I certainly understand the 4-day holiday at that time of the year. I was, however, very anxious to get the situation resolved. The chirping of those defective smoke detectors was driving all of us batty. If (more likely when) an electrical issue comes up again, I'll try to work with you to resolve the problem. Jared showed up on time, which is rare when living on an island. Most repair people get in the ferry line when they say they're going to be there, sometimes showing up an hour later. But no, Jared hit the road at 4am and knew the ferry schedule. He was polite and patient with me. He assessed the situation, figured out the problems, and basically kept our house from burning down someday in the future. Hard to over pay for that, so what they charged seemed like peanuts. Jacalen was easy to talk to and helpful from the office with payment and such. A good company, great crew! read more

I got probably half a dozen quotes from companies to install my EV charger and aside from having a very fair price, what set Brown Town apart is open and honest communication. While some companies took days to respond back, Barry was always answering my questions within the same day, if not the hour. Our installer, Matt, arrived 15 minutes early and was extremely polite and efficient. I had questions about possibly changing course on the plan when he arrived and both Barry and Matt were very open-minded and patient. They walked me through the detail of what it would take and were willing to deviate last minute if necessary. This team is amazing. Lost power in half my kitchen and my bedroom. They came out right away and found my outage within the quoted timeframe. Fixed it, and then stayed when I asked for some additional work. Every other company I've worked with required an additional reschedule. I just had the BEST experience with Barry and his team and have to write a review! Had a bathroom fan CATCH FIRE and was able to get one of their electricians out the next morning (Miracle #1) They were able to replace the fan and old housing the same day (Miracle #2) In addition, installed a new model that is 100x quieter than the fan it replaced AND original quote was less than others had quoted for days out before they could come! Professional isn't the right word, they really did go SO FAR ABOVE AND BEYOND!! Can't recommend enough. Never been happier that I didn't do the work myself for once. read more

Wow, can't say enough good things about Barry. Same day response to my job request from he and Roz. On the Friday before Labor Day he calls from the road while heading out of town! He quickly assesses my issue, and tells me how simple my fix is (dimmer switch replace). Other yelp respondents were quoting $150-350 for the 'job'. I buy $20 switch on Amazon and had it done in 10 minutes. Big ups to Barry, can't recommend he and Brown Town enough. read more

Barry was great. I needed to have a 220V car charger installed and wanted to fix up some wiring in my garage. Brown Town came out to my house to do a free estimate which is what I wanted since I needed a couple things done besides just the car charger. He came with his team, masked up, which was good since we have an immunocompromised kid, and Covid 19 is still a thing. They were professional and courteous. When the day of the install came, Barry was on time and had what he needed to get the work done. He installed a 50amp breaker and professionally installed my level 2 charger. He also installed an additional 110v 20amp (I think) breaker for my two garage door openers and installed two needed outlets in the garage. My garage doesn't have drywall up everywhere, so he installed drywall before putting up the charger. The overall cost was great, the speed of the install was great, and I couldn't be happier with the job. Thanks! read more
