We just moved into a beautiful 1920s bungalow with many art deco light fixtures. As I was cleaning a glass shade, I ended up breaking it. My husband was convinced that there was no way to find a replacement .After a month of internet searches and inquiries, we were convinced we would never find a matching replacement. One day I emailed Vintage Hardware. I exchanged emails with Victoria who was super quick and easy to reach via email and subsequently on phone. She asked for numerous photos of the shade against bright light. Within 48-72 hours, she had found an EXACT match in their stock. I was concerned that it might not match the amber shading or the size but Victoria referred to their antique expert , who said he recognized the style and it was exclusive to a certain chandelier only. We received it in perfect condition in two days after that. We are thrilled...!!! My husband cant believe I pulled it off ( he was ready to buy a new chandelier). A very professional and pleasing experience overall. Ask for Victoria ! read more

What a disappointment! I previously ordered glass slip shades. I found available on their website and placed & rec'd them. They were not nearly close to the quality of others. #1 sent email -no response #2called left message - no returned call #3 called was told that they would ck with warehouse & see if another was available- never heard back #4 called again was told every slip was different. I discussed pattern on outside was very poorly done. "Frosted" glass was nearly opaque. Rep. suggested I try using "Armarol(sp?) on glass ! Rep advised I could return item (I pay return shipping) Re order ($179) I pay shipping but it would probably be the same thing. How do these people stay in business if what the show on website & what they ship is so different??? The biggest problem lies with that they just don't seem to care! read more

I splurged in my new home to by a unique swan faucet. The company told me they had one in stock, so I set up a Plummer to take out my old one and install the swan. The swan leaked very badly from a bad mold. My Plummer let me know that industry standard was for the company to send a new one quickly and pay for the uninstall reinstall as it was their faulty product. No one ever called me back. when I reached them, I was told it would be 2-3 Months before getting a new faucet from them, and 3 Plummer visits. They did refund my money but never called me, nor stood behind their product by comping what was double costs for Plummer I incurred because I trusted their product worked. Look for the video of the faucet they sent me. read more

this is a horrible company!!!! They sent me defective glass lamp shades and claim "that's just the way it is", which is not true as I ordered three and one was perfect. they also overcharged me in shipping. I ordered a brass mailbox whixh came in antique finish. they polished it for me and made custom so I could hang it. It is gorgeous.

this is NOT a reputable company. I ordered a door set for $429.00, the wrong item was shipped twice. when the correct item was finally shipped it was damaged. I returned the item and the vendor cancelled the order. My money still has not been returned since although I contacted them many times. If you are wise you won't buy from them! read more

Made several attempts to communicate customer support issue. After much back and forth, company rep stated they would order the parts and sent a follow up email asking me to remove my negative review. I replied that I would update or remove my review based on the resolution process received. I did not hear back from them for 2 weeks. I sent a follow up email and they said they couldn't help me. It is such a red flag for a company to request negative reviews be removed instead of using feedback to improve their business model and customer support. Very disappointing if you have any issues with an order. read more

This company must sell knockoffs of other, higher quality fixtures. I ordered a lovely doorbell, but the product I received looks like a cheap knockoff of a different product. Similar style, but different enough that it doesn't match the rest of my door hardware. Unfortunately, I didn't realize how different it was until after I installed the doorbell. Which means that I cannot return the item, according to their return policy. Also, my product didn't ship until after I called to ask about my order, 2 weeks from when I placed my order. Not a big deal if I know about it when ordering, but my order confirmation had no estimate on when my item would ship. When I called, the representative seemed surprised that it had not shipped yet and said it would ship by the end of the day. A week later it was finally shipped. read more

This company is a scam. I ordered this product a month ago and was never told that it was on back order. The google ad said it was 44$ and when I purchased it - it mysteriously was priced at 65$ instead. With shipping it became almost 100$. I've called them multiple times and they lie about "not knowing" when the product can be shipped. Every two weeks they say another two weeks. They NEVER TOLD ME IT WAS ON BACKORDER. I have had to call multiple times and never get an honest response. They ignored all of my emails. They are most likely a scam company and should not be allowed to process payments through paypal. Only once I told my husband that this was a scam did they pretend to offer a refund via a voicemail but never once before I stated I was opening a case. They are scared of their scam being caught - they do not want me to tell the truth. This has caused me to lose $5000. This piece was ordered a month ago without any communication from the company telling me that it was not arriving on time - they even charged me a ton for shipping. My new lighting fixtures are absolutely perfect! I looked for lighting that would fit my circa 1900 farmhouse for several years, but everything I found on the internet looked basically the same, nothing special. Then I found these truly beautiful fixtures from Vintage Hardwarethat are exactly right, and I am totally thrilled with them. Also, one of the glass shades arrived broken, and customer service sent out a replacement that arrived in 2 days. These are very special ceiling lights that fit into the living room as if they were originals, and I am getting lavish compliments from everyone who sees them. Couldn't be happier! read more

I purchased two sconces from this company. After installing we realized they were NOT even made the same. Imagine looking at them on your wall where they are totally uneven. We called and were advised to purchase another (which we did) and then called to return. This company if a joke.... The girl (Victoria) said we ship from separate lots. After explaining AGAIN and AGAIN, and escalated to management (which there is none) it was time to write a great review. We should have known NOT to order from these clowns after reading their other reviews. Companies like these should NOT be allowed to be in business. Actually, they will probably find themselves out of business real soon. Spare yourself any frustration and DO NOT ORDER from them. read more

The pushplates I ordered were "oil-rubbed bronze" and there was zero bronze. When I handled them, the black finish came off on my hands. Additionally, they were so thin that if the finish was as nice as true oil-rubbed bronze is expected to be, they would have appeared low-quality. I explained this in my return comments and asked that the 25% restock policy be waived; they could not be handled without staining ones hands. FedEx delivered the return on Dec. 18. I received no correspondence for six weeks and had to telephone to get my refund processed. A week later, after receiving no correspondence, I phoned to learn they could not reverse charge because my credit card was recently replaced; why did they not contact me with this information? Today I received refund confirmation that reflected the 25% restock was enforced. Reading Ria S.'s post of 3/26/2021, I see a similar woe: receiving a cheap knockoff when something nice was expected. Please keep in mind you may well receive something of low quality, and it will cost you 25% of the purchase price to find out. Why take the risk? read more

I purchased 2 cone shaped glass lamp shades to hang over our pool table. They shipped 2 shades which were not the same size, thickness or finish, one was broken and the other was defective. I returned the shades and received a refund for the shades, but not the $84 I paid for shipping. I accept that one shade could have broken during shipment, but shipping the defective and non matching shades is a reflection of poor business practices of Vintage Hardware. They offered to ship me 2 new ones without a new charge for shipping, but I could not trust that the shades would match or be of good quality. I will not do business with them in the future. read more

I was so excited to go see this place. The pictures are great. I have a 104 year old house and needed some hardware and wanted to look at lighting. I drove 2 hours to get there only to realize they are only doing internet shopping and then you are supposed to go there and pick up your item. That is nowhere on the website. Needless to say, it was a huge disappointment. There is a huge sign on the side of the building saying they are hiring for a trainee. They must not be paying enough. It would not take much to put that on the website in a prominent way. I will be looking elsewhere for my hardware. read more

I can't understand how this place is still open. It is the worst! We started a remodeling project mid-winter. We ordered 3 identical ceiling chandeliers @ $500 each. Plus $250 shipping. Two of them arrived after a long wait. The fixtures are cheap looking but not awful. I called to check on the 3rd. They told us it was backordered, first for 1 month, then 2 more. When I called to get a refund, Ron told me it was discontinued. No one called to inform us. Seven months has passed. I was upset because our project was finished. All based on those fixtures. except the 3rd chandelier. We needed 3 identical lights and now we would never get them. After talking to 3 people, telling the story over and over, they refunded the price of 1 light only. No tax, no prorated shipping. This took a month of me calling, no one returning my call ever! We asked to get a refund for all 3. We'd take the 2 down, pack them up and send them back. Then I would again, search for 3 identical fixtures. They could still sell them. Seems like a win win situation. No one has called back on our request for full refund. The fixtures are still on the website and they will never have them again. Someone else will order them, pay and months later be told they don't have them! Ridiculous! And so rude. They lie about checking in with the manager, calling us back and helping to find a solution. This is a common complaint. This awful business needs to be shut down. read more

I wish I would have gone to Yelp before making a purchase from this company. I ordered a replacement shade for an antique light fixture at a cost of $144.50 with shipping. It had some damage (chipping and inner hairline crack) that I noted immediately and requested a replacement via phone and email. In fact customer service told me one area of damage was a mold mark. After two more emails they finally sent me a return label. Item was shipped back within two days and today (9/13) I receive an email from them that the shade was completely broken and they would not be issuing a refund or replacement. Customer service rep stated that was their policy. He also stated If they filed a claim with USPS, they still will not issue my refund or replacement. Vintage Hardware... where have you been all my life?!?! If this isn't the coolest spot on the planet, I will wear an art deco lampshade on my head. Where do I start? If you have a cool home, and need that perfect old (or restored) piece of doodah for whatever, they will have it here. They have an on site lighting museum dedicated to the Art Deco period (of which I know jack crap, but it sure was neat!) They are currently restoring lighting fixtures and also recasting, and reproducing lighting for the White House renovations. I have never seen so many beautiful chandeliers, light fixtures, weather vanes and door knockers in one place. Their antique loft is exquisite.. and are you sitting? They are NOT EXPENSIVE! I am almost glad I live three hours and a ferry ride from this place... I would live in it. read more

NOPE nope nope. These guys will send you a product that has something wrong with it, give you the run around, and then tell you "Oops! Outside our 30 day return policy." The 30-day return clock seems to start ticking the second you submit your order--no matter that they take their sweet time to ship your order, and that you'll have to deal with their negligent customer service before sending in your return. They might even send your order right back to you without a word, then insist that the products are fine. This seriously happened to us! We've now paid for return shipping twice and received no money back. In fact, they haven't responded to our emails in weeks. Avoid like the plague. I purchased a lamp from this store online. When the lamp arrived it did not match the description or the photos. It was supposed to be an oil rubbed bronze lamp with two fittings for glass sconces. It was spray-painted black over a bronze lamp. It was missing the fittings on one light, so I couldn't even attach the glass. They gave me a partial refund, meaning I paid for them to send me a spray-painted bronze lamp that was not worth anywhere close to $700, and then send it back. An update to my original review Vintage Hardware replaced the defective part on my chandelier for free. They were very prompt but still not particularly communicative. The chandelier is amazing. The products this company has are beautiful but their customer service is not very good and they are not particularly reliable. I wanted a chandelier customized so I initially called and asked how much smaller they could make it, Victoria said there was only one link on the chandelier so that was all they could shorten it. After looking at some of the other products I called back, spoke to Victoria again and asked if they could shorten the finial and take the link out, this time she said the link couldn't be removed but the finial could be shortened. So I placed my order and she told me she would email me when the chandelier was ready to ship, likely 2-3 weeks. The next week I received and email from Fedex saying my package was being delivered. Unfortunately it had to be signed for was being delivered to a construction site with no one on site. Vintage hardware was unable to make any changes to the delivery. I had to pay one of my contractors to go to the area fedex location and pick it up. Afterward it was several weeks before we got the chandelier unpacked and installed and one of the light arms was bent. I obviously came from Vintage Hardware this way, since there was no damage to any of the packing and the arm is too sturdy too be unbent by hand. When I contacted them to get a new arm there only reply was I had to order it because the 30 day return policy was up. I would not purchase from them again and wish that I had looked at reviews before ordering. read more

Product quality very poor and customer service is offensive. I ordered 4 exterior screen door latch sets for $100 apiece. They rusted inside and out one week after installation. I called customer service multiple times, let a voicemail, sent an email to request a return. When I finally reached someone one my 5th attempt, they told me they would send a return shipping label. This never happened, and when I called to follow up the following day, I spoke with Ron Royer, who claimed to be the Manager of Hardware and the Manager of Customer Service. He began cursing at me after I stated that I would write a negative online review. He then transferred me to his manager, who never picked up the phone after 30 minutes of hold time. I still am waiting for a return package after spending nearly $500 on hardware that I cant use. Don't waste your money and certainly don't waste your time. read more

I wish I had looked at the Yelp reviews before buying from these clowns. I purchased a $1,700.00 mortise entry lock set which failed in 1 year, of course, they would not stand behind it and I had to buy another mortise lock box. The "new" one that came, looked like they opened it with a crow bar, I was forced to install it so my celebrity client could lock their front door! I sent them pictures of the box as soon as I opened it and their response was, " Our locks are inspected and tested before shipment", what a joke! So, the "New" box fails after 5 weeks and they won't stand behind that one either, they wanted to charge me to repair it! DON'T BUY FROM THESE IDIOTS! This business has absolutely terrible customer service and their products are not much better. I ordered a product which was defective. When I called to ask for an exchange, they basically told me to take a hike. I was shocked by their attitude. Ouch! I received my Vintage Hardware light fixtures today with regret that I hadn't read these reviews first. I've had the same disappointing experience as others - cheaply made fixtures with thinly spray painted "finishes." Their oil rubbed bronze finish is a thin spray of flat black. Now, having read the reviews, I can save myself the frustration of making a return. I'll try to refinish the fixtures myself, but that won't hide the overall cheap quality. If I brought them to an antiques restorer for refinishing, they would laugh. I paid too much, and If I had known, I wouldn't have bought from Vintage Hardware at all. read more

This company is getting a rare review from me not because of the quality of their product but because of the quality of their customer service. I was sent a beautiful chandelier that was in great shape but the finial piece was made too small. My first red flag was when the customer service rep argued with me three months ago demanding that she was there when they put the piece on but in fact I've had four electricians try to screw that piece in and it is in fact way too short after one measured. I contacted the company and they sent me some random metal piece did they say said just had to be screwed in to the crystal piece which in fact was not the case. I couldn't get the piece out so that I had to call the company back to get them to please send me a piece with a crystal attached. Fast forward about three months they've been waiting for me to send the piece back but I've been in the middle of a very big move. I called last week to ask him if I could just simply send a piece with a longer screw attached and some Asian lady answered and that was when my nightmare began. There began a long argumentative banter back-and-forth psycho analyzing me mudslinging and insulting enough to where I demanded to please speak to a manager. She put me on hold and the supervisor of the metalworking department got on the phone. What a monster he was. Enough to make me cry. And I don't cry often when people are rude. I asked them to please send me a mailing label since I just spent $1500 with them so I could please get this piece back and he said "I'm not going to do that". I spent $1500 on a beautiful chandelier with a missing piece that was made too short and they can't send me a free mailing label? Not to mention his attitude was beyond flippant and rude he could've cared less that I was upset he could've cared less that I told him I was putting a review about his company because of how rude they were he basically laughed it off and so did the Asian lady. She basically counseled me which I was calling for a piece for the chandelier not to be canceled correction canceled basically saying don't let people get to you. Well she's not the one that just spent $1500 on a chandelier with a missing piece dealing with rude customer service people is she? It was a terrible experience with them about which I will never forget for the rest of my life I will never forget that monster who owes me an apology and because I never received one he's getting a review everywhere I can place one. Facebook is next. I deal with hundreds of companies and I've never met anyone at any company that is treated me as rudely as these two people treated me. I will never ever shop with them again read more

Buy elsewhere if you can. My first experience with them was mixed. We were renovating an 1884 house and needed replacement hinges, lock and a doorbell. The pieces appeared well made and historically accurate enough to satisfy the landmark's commission. Except that.. The $100+ doorbell never worked. We all took turns trying to get the silly thing to work, useless. They would not take it back, they refused technical support. 4 Years later it's still in a box. Unfortunately, I had to deal with them again, because a lock cylinder failed. The lock is unique enough in appearance that I called and ordered the replacement cylinder from them. HUGE mistake. I paid $50 for expedited shipping. It didn't arrive on time. I asked if they could re-direct the package to my home since it was the Memorial Day weekend and my office was closed on the next delivery day.. They said yes if I paid another delivery fee. The delivery I paid for failed but - "it's not our fault" - so to fix it they wanted another fee. I had to buy another complete lockset elsewhere. I had FedEx return the unopened package and have confirmation that they have received it. They refuse to refund my funds. I have now had to file a dispute with the credit card company. I found the website for Vintage Hardware and Lighting because I wanted to replace the drawer pulls on my great grandmothers dining room furniture. I needed 10 pulls, 4 of one size and 6 of another size. I ordered 2 pulls because I wanted to be sure this is the direction I wanted to go, and I received them quickly, without incident. So I log on and order 9 additional pulls, I pay my $113, it's immediately taken from my bank account, and that was more than 3 weeks ago. I have not received any communication from Vintage, nor have I received my pulls. Finally I call them and I am given the run around and I will have to do all the legwork to cancel the first order and I will have to start over. I email the sales group and as of yet, I have not heard a word from them. Bottom line, I am not a happy camper. This order is not rocket science and I have gotten 1 phone call from the original person I spoke with, directing me as to what all I have to do, which includes ordering different pulls. I am not re-ordering anything from them until I get my money back and I receive some competent help with my needs. I dont hand out many 5 star reviews, but these folks saved the day. We told our sons not play with a ball in the house, but did they listen? Nooooo. Several inquires to other bussiness reinforced our fear. One of them suggested we reach out to Vintage Hardware. My wife interacted via email with Vern, who asked for numerous photos of the shade as well as the entire fixture. Although a lot of these great items are a little out of my price range, I love to come here when I'm in Port Townsend and fantasize about how I'd decorate my dream home. The lights, the music, and the experience will whisk you back to a bygone era. Mr. Kelly's collection of depression-era light fixtures is breathtaking. My only complaint is that the service isn't wonderful. The same woman has been working each time I've come, and she isn't very friendly. What they sent me looked worse than a high school shop project. Purchased a mortise lock and privacy doorplate from their website. The mortise lock came with a lose part inside, I opened it to try to put it back in place, and found stunningly bad workmanship inside. They had taken a grinder to two of the pieces to convert a stock keyed lock to a privacy lock, and the person who did it must have had no professional machining experience. The privacy thumb plate that was bundled with the mortise lock on their website did not fit the mortise lock.
