Online photo vs. product I received.
Ria S.

This company must sell knockoffs of other, higher quality fixtures. I ordered a lovely doorbell, but the product I received looks like a cheap knockoff of a different product. Similar style, but different enough that it doesn't match the rest of my door hardware. Unfortunately, I didn't realize how different it was until after I installed the doorbell. Which means that I cannot return the item, according to their return policy. Also, my product didn't ship until after I called to ask about my order, 2 weeks from when I placed my order. Not a big deal if I know about it when ordering, but my order confirmation had no estimate on when my item would ship. When I called, the representative seemed surprised that it had not shipped yet and said it would ship by the end of the day. A week later it was finally shipped.

Google ad for the product priced at $44.20 NO INDICATION THAT IT WAS ON BACKORDER! Never received an email update once!

This company is a scam. I ordered this product a month ago and was never told that it was on back order. The google ad said it was 44$ and when I purchased it - it mysteriously was priced at 65$ instead. With shipping it became almost 100$. I've called them multiple times and they lie about "not knowing" when the product can be shipped. Every two weeks they say another two weeks. They NEVER TOLD ME IT WAS ON BACKORDER. I have had to call multiple times and never get an honest response. They ignored all of my emails. They are most likely a scam company and should not be allowed to process payments through paypal. Only once I told my husband that this was a scam did they pretend to offer a refund via a voicemail but never once before I stated I was opening a case. They are scared of their scam being caught - they do not want me to tell the truth. This has caused me to lose $5000. This piece was ordered a month ago without any communication from the company telling me that it was not arriving on time - they even charged me a ton for shipping. VICTORIA IS A CONARTIST.

Vintage Hardware... where have you been all my life?!?! If this isn't the coolest spot on the planet, I will wear an art deco lampshade on my head. Where do I start? If you have a cool home, and need that perfect old (or restored) piece of doodah for whatever, they will have it here. They have an on site lighting museum dedicated to the Art Deco period (of which I know jack crap, but it sure was neat!) They are currently restoring lighting fixtures and also recasting, and reproducing lighting for the White House renovations. I have never seen so many beautiful chandeliers, light fixtures, weather vanes and door knockers in one place. Their antique loft is exquisite.. and are you sitting? They are NOT EXPENSIVE! I am almost glad I live three hours and a ferry ride from this place... I would live in it.

My dog and I both love Henery's…read more It is small, yet has what you need. Somehow they get a lot into that small building! Speaking of that, go back to the aisle with the many small boxes that contain every tiny, unassuming replacement thingamabob and doohicky ever made in the world! I have NEVER seen this assortment of bits and thingies anywhere else. I mean let's say your hammock stand loses that screw with the largish plastic knob to help turn it with only your hand. By golly, there's a replacement one in that aisle! It is similar to Harry Potter's room of requirement if everything required was small. The workers are extraordinarily friendly. They either really like their jobs or are award-winning actors because I am a believer. BTW, dogs and the humans get free treats (popcorn for humans). Know that they do not sell lumber. Also know, you can rent stuff like power washers, etc. So what's not to love? It's WAY better than some gwaddafful anonymous big box. Albeit some things are more expensive than...say Amazon, but that is small town life. I read the review that complained of all the merchandise there being from China. NOT 100% true because I bought a nice bird feeder made in the USA there, but yeah most of it is. Everything everywhere is made in China, not just at Henery's. Heck, your souvenir to remember your wonderful trip to "fill in the blank" (not China) was probably made in China. Caveat though. Because they are small (but mighty), you sometimes may need to go to said big box. Hopefully not though. P.S. There has been discussion in my household as to whether it is pronounced with two syllables (HEN-RYS) or three (HE-NER-IES), so if someone with certain knowledge of it can clear that up, it would end that discussion once and for all.

This store is a life saver!…read more We are contractors and had a job on Orcas Island. We had never been to Orcas before and were unfamiliar with the area. Before we set out for the island, I looked up local hardware stores (just in case). I found Island Hardware & Supply, called them to make sure they would have what we MIGHT need, hopped in the truck and got on the ferry. OF COURSE it turned out that we DID need some items, so we set off for the Hardware store. We got lost and ended up at the little hardware store in East Sound - we thought we were at the right store, but they didn't have any of the supplies we needed. We were pretty confused until I found out from a local resident that the little hardware store in East Sound is on North Beach Road, and the big hardware store (Island Hardware) is on West Beach Road. So we hopped back in the truck again, and set out to find Island Hardware. (yes, we got losat again...but eventually figured it out) We were so relieved when we located the store and were able to purchase the supplies we needed, because we were thinking that we would have to get on the ferry and drive to the home depot in Mt Vernon (that would have taken forever). Island Hardware had all the stuff we wanted, lumber, tools, big bolts, lag screws, plumbing supplies etc. They even have a couple of little gas pumps which was handy for us. We had the occassion to go back up to Orcas for round two of the job which was exterior painting. The paint we purchased needed to be re-tinted at the last minute. We remembered that Island Hardware had a paint department and took the buckets of paint to them with our fingers crossed. Even though we didn't buy the paint from them, they happily re-tinted it for us...I thought that was pretty generous and excellent customer service!

But today, I was stopped on my way in and told I had to leave my backpack--which acts as my purse--behind the counter. ME: "Oh? When did the store start this policy?" STAFF: "We've always done it." ME: "I've NEVER been asked to surrender my backpack and I come in here a lot!" STAFF: Pulls me aside in a confidential whisper..."It's not you, if you know what I mean, but we have to do it to everyone." Now, I am an AARP-card carrying senior in her 60s and I was stopped on this one occasion out of maybe 25+ visits to this store over the past 3 months. This is a case of implicit bias in action, folks. I don't carry a purse. I carry a small knapsack to keep my wallet in. I support Ace's right to proactively prevent shoplifting. But they must be consistent enacting those policies. Don't send off a suspicious vibe when you're projecting a "friendly" atmosphere! There's a smaller neighborhood HW store down the road. I think I will take my business there from now on.
