There are a decent number of generic take out Chinese restaurants in Wilmington, as there is in any city, but this one is probably the worst. I think I've been here twice and the food always tastes like it's been through a microwave, which in all fairness, it probably has. I ordered here based on reviews. I went in and ordered takeout. The service was very nice and food was prepared quickly and accurately. I got a lot bc I planned to eat leftovers. I did not like the chicken satay at all. The chicken had a weird consistency and the flavor was not good. I then tried an egg roll. It was better, but bland so I added pepper. I liked that it was perfectly cooked and crunchy, but not tough. Moving on to the chicken lo mein, I was disappointed. It looked good but it had a weird, sort of sweet, flavor. Went in for Chinese food. We didn't have huge expectations but I at least wanted your average "Chinese" food that you can get anywhere. We were majorly dissappointed when we got our food. Just ordered to-go food from here with a few coworkers. I called in the order and it was ready within 15 minutes. The customer service was great and it was super easy to split the bill so I could pay with three different cards. I ordered the wontons and the pork lo mein lunch special. Price was cheap and the portion size is very impressive. I will easily be able to spread my order throughout three meals.Overall the taste was great too. My husband and I have eaten the same take out for years thought we would try something new. The food was quick and tons of it for under $20. The taste was good as well, the food was not greasy it was light and refreshing. The food comes in reheatable packages which i love, i can just take the leftovers and put them right in the fridge without any mess!The only thing I will say that needs improvement would be the cream cheese wantons, the ones we ordered barely had any cheese. Delivery was screwed up. An hour and 15 minutes went by; then called again. The person who answered paused and then said they just left with it. Best Chinese food in town, hands down. They also have a few Thai and Japanse dishes. It's hard to believe it's "fast food" Chinese delivery, it's so good. The food is always fresh and cooked to order. The Pad Thai is out of this world, better than it was at Indochine! Agreed with previous review. It's the best Chinese food in Wilmington. Very good delivery service. Potstickers in spicy peanut sauce is easily the best item on the menu in my opinion. You can't go wrong with Japanese hibachi dishes delivered to your doorstep either. Very good chicken satay as well. Haven't had a bad experience or a single dish I didn't like yet, and I get it almost weekly and always vary what I order. Recently tried the crispy ginger chili chicken. It was amazing. Same with the almond chicken. Truly, it's all good. 1 word of advice though. Don't go in expecting to pay low prices like some Chinese food places. This one is on the higher end of moderately priced. I have been ordering from firebowl for about 2 years now at least 1x every 2 weeks. The food was always great, except lately the last few times I have ate there it's has been very different. Now there egg rolls are nothing but cabbage or lettuce rolled up with nothing else inside. Also when you order something like chicken and broccoli or pepper steak it's mostly just veggies. There has been a complete turn around of the quality of the food here. Not sure why but when I want Chinese food now we drive to the other side of town to get something better. I used to love the food here but they are seriously lacking in the quantity and quality. After the first time it was poor I thought maybe it was just a bad night and tried it again 3 more times and now it's consecutively bad. Not a bad experience. The sauce, meat, and overall quality was very good. Fast, Fresh, and well prepared. My wife really enjoyed the "Sweet and Sour Chicken." We also got the pad Thai, the Dan Dan noodle bowl, as well as the Hawaiian Chicken but I wanted it over rice noodles...which I was told they didn't have so I settled for lo mien noodles-the pad Thai came with rice noodles!! I also requested a side of pad Thai sauce, they said they didn't have any despite having it on the menu, so I tried another name & asked for peanut sauce; I essentially got melted peanut butter. All of the dishes ordered had nearly no flavor, very disappointing. In addition, I found, not one, but two hairs in my Hawaiian chicken. Very disappointing; I was super hungry too. It's one of the best places for American style Chinese food in Wilmington in my opinion, the food seems to stay consistent with the flavor each time. The best takeout place in town! This is 5 minutes away and always our go-to when we don't know what we want for dinner. I usually get the hibachi chicken and mushroom and sub broccoli for onion.. However everything I have tried has been delicious. The sesame chicken is my favorite when I want something sweet. I am not a spicy food lover but my family loves the almond chicken. The food here I love. When you order chicken fried rice, half the container is cut chicken, which I love. The delivery people are always super friendly and prompt. However I always feel like if you go there in person to place an order for take out that they don't want you there. The last couple times I've gone in person to get take-out the guy at the front desk always had the same bad off-putting attitude. For me the saving grace of this place is the food, the decent prices and the wonderful delivery drivers who treat you like a buddy versus just another customer. read more
