Wife's was pretty bland. Mine was supposed to be curried but I didn't taste any curry. Bland. Blander. BLANDEST! This isn't really THAT surprising to some degree. It's actually very difficult to find ethnic based food in this area that isn't toned down for the bland, Southern taste buds.

Someone called me back just to verify the order and to advise where they were located...nice touch. When I got there, there were lots of people there waiting to get food. When I got to the counter, my food was ready so I paid and left. We took our food back to the hotel. I was so hungry that I forgot to take pictures..sigh. The food looked really good. I ordered a combination platter of shrimp lo mein, and an egg roll. My husband got an order of combination foo young and we also got a free order of sesame chicken. The shrimp lo mein was really good and had lots of shrimp in it and had a good portion of noodles. The sesame chicken was cooked well and tasted good as well...nothing special...just the regular sesame chicken. The egg foo young was bland and didn't have much flavor but was edible. Overall this was your average Chinese takeout restaurant experience, nothing special.

The Pad Thai was loaded with chicken and vegetables, with peanuts and lime on the side so you could finish it exactly how you like. It came packed with meat, fresh herbs, jalapeños, sprouts, and all the extras on the side, including chili oil and sauces, so you could really customize the flavor and heat. And of course we had to finish with dessert. The dessert was beautifully presented with ice cream, cake, whipped cream, coconut, and an orchid on top. Definitely a nice way to end the meal. The atmosphere feels a little more upscale than your typical Thai/Vietnamese restaurant, but still comfortable and inviting. Everything was presented beautifully, portions were generous, and there was plenty of variety at the table. Overall, Café Chinois is definitely a place I'd come back to, especially when I'm in the mood for Asian food but want something a little different from the usual.
