Very interesting place. Not sure how I missed it in the past. The local salesman recommended I give it a try so I did. Huge parking lot that was already very full at 6pm. They do not take reservations so it is first come first serve. I waited maybe 5-10 minutes and was seated at a booth. I hate taking up a booth at a busy place when it is just me but that is where they seated me. Hostess was super sweet but spoke very low. Background noise and being hard of hearing that made for several repeats. We worked through it. Interior is very Asian. Some looks to be very old Asian. Not sure how many years this place has been here but it appears to be several. After reviewing the huge menu I discussed with my server going with something different and went with the nest after she explained it. Sounded different and it was. It is also huge. Lots of shrimp and scallops. And the veggies block out the noodles that are sopping up the juice below. I was unable To finish it all. Wow it was good. The place is super crowded and super busy. Hello friends, This places has been on my list for some time. Finding myself in Carolina Beach; we headed north to try this place out. We were told 1.5 hour wait. We took the trip so we waited......and waited......and waited x's 5. Finally seated at this point we would have jumped in the pond and ate one of those koi fish. The Food was fine. Nothing to write home about. Would've been 5x's better had it at least been warm. I believe there HAS to be better options around. Wow. This is a little oasis in the middle of town. I recommend sitting outside. You'll feel like you're on an island vacation! We were regulars when we lived here. The last time we ate here was 2023 while on vacation. This vacation we ate here again. When our appetizers came out I was shocked to see that one of the Egg Rolls was BLOWN OUT on one side and BURNT BLACK. Whoever was working EXPO never should have let it leave the kitchen. The wait is a bit long but there's a bar in the back with seating as well as a gift shop. The food is fantastic, I got a pad see ew and the appetizer sampler. I tried to go on Valentine's Day but the 2-hour wait was a no, so I was excited to finally experience it. The ambiance is beautiful--colorful, cozy, and it really makes you feel like you've stepped somewhere special. The service was great as well--attentive and even had a bit of humor, which made the experience more enjoyable. We started with the sampler appetizer, which was perfect for two and a great way to try a variety of items. For my main, I went with the tom yum soup to save room for dessert, but it fell a bit short--flavor was mild and the portion was smaller than expected for an entrée. My husband ordered the Happy Asian Melody, which was good--fresh ingredients, generous portion, just a bit heavy on the sauce. Now the highlight--the coconut cake absolutely lived up to the hype. Moist, flavorful, and not overly coconutty. Paired with the coconut ice cream, it was the perfect ending. Overall, I'm glad I finally tried it. Let me start off by saying this is usually my favorite restaurant to go out and take people to over in Wilmington. It's got such an incredible atmosphere and is so beautiful on the outside. With the koi ponds and the unique design and everything. It's definitely a little tide getting inside the restaurant, parking is pretty rough and hallways always seem really tight, but I guess it makes it super home style? Either way, I ordered a number of different dishes Family style form, and it was really good! The presentation was wonderful! My server did a great job, it definitely felt like he was going out of his way to take care of us and I was definitely a fan. Unfortunately, it didn't feel like the restaurants or other people set each other up for success. For example, there are an incredible amount of flies and mosquitoes in the summer, and if you eat outside then you know you're going to be crowded by them. Our fly swatter rotator thing ended up dying a quarter way through dining experience, so we asked the people at the bar to use theirs and they said that someone else will take care of us and it felt very uncomfortable. It didn't seem to be that they were using it for anything, but we asked our server about it and he said that they're all in use. And we asked him to use the one at the bar and then he went out of his way to get it for us. I feel like that shouldn't happen, they should push for client experience overall and prioritize that since they're able to just cover up whatever they had at the bar anyways, it was a great experience, food could have been better and more flavorful but I understand I also went out of the busy time read more

Such an amazing experience. When we arrived, the main parking lot was full. There is another parking area that was available to park in..so needless to say there is ample parking. We thought that we would have to wait a long time considering the amount of people waiting to be seated. Our wait was only about 30 minutes. During our wait time, I visited the little gift shop next door. So cute, so quaint. I bought some beginners chopsticks because I am still horrible at using regular ones. Fast forward 30 minutes, we got a text advising us that our table was ready. By the way, ALL of the staff was just so nice and friendly. We ordered the appetizer sampler. It was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! My cousin and brother came to visit from out of town! I was so excited for them to see this amazing side of the city. The outdoor seating is just incredible, it's like being transported to Indonesia right here in Wilmington. I didn't manage to snap photos of all the delicious dishes we devoured because we were too caught up in conversation and enjoying the food. But seriously, if you haven't been there yet, you absolutely must go - it's a solid 10 out of 10 all around. The lively atmosphere really enhanced the flavors of each dish, and we had such a great time reminiscing and creating new memories together. I can't recommend Indochine enough! From start to finish, my experience here was fantastic. The highlight for me was the roasted duck curry--it's a beautiful balance of flavors. Like everybody else on this app and on Instagram, I would totally recommend for a delicious lunch or dinner. There is a variety of food, but it is not overwhelming and you really can't go wrong with anything you order. I recently got turned onto the. Tom Ka Gai so I'll have to say I don't think I can ever go back to a time when I will dine there and not order that. You could choose to eat it as a hearty appetizer or even your main meal. Once I ordered a side of white rice and dumped it in there. Anyway - Indochine is such a wonderful dining experience whether you are inside, outside, or sitting at the bar. Of course, the decorations that they have used to spruce up the ambience of the restaurant are hard to top. I've heard that a lot of them are hand picked from the east and brought back to the restaurant. I think it's also cute that they have a little gift shop with actually cute items that I would like to purchase - one of them being the collection of little chopstick holders for your table scape. I do highly recommend going to ending over the Express locations (while the concept is great because you can order the same type of food items to go, I have actually found overtime that the food is significantly better at the original location than these express locations.) read more

I came in for lunch on a weekday and was surprised by how busy the place was, but it is very telling of how beloved this place is. My waitress was very friendly and helped me make my decision on what to get. The food took a while to come out, but was definitely hot and fresh when I got it! Sad because realistically we'll never get a chance to go here again. We are on a road trip and happen to be passing by the area when we got hungry. I'll start by saying that we go out often enough but the garden in the back completely blew us away. It was like we entered another country when we went through the doors. I've heard SO much about this restaurant and finally got to try it. It was nothing less than all the hype! This restaurant is so beautiful and reminds me so much of my home; Vietnam. We went at 6PM on a Saturday and the wait was about 10 minutes so we went to the gift shop while we waited. It is so cute in there! They have a variety of Asian themed gifts all at different price points and I was obsessed with looking at everything. Staff is really nice and our waitress was so sweet. She made sure to keep checking on us and packed up our food for us herself. I highly recommend sitting out doors for the private pavilions as it's beautiful, spacious, and intimate. Food was impeccable! I am not an appetizer person at restaurants but decided to give it a shot. The appetizer sampler is tooo good and gives you a slice of their best. This is a great place, with great food, and great staff. Indochine had been on my bucket list for quite a while. So, much to my pleasure when my family surprised me with a road-trip to Wilmington. The central location of Indochine and the plentiful parking are all additional perks. But, the food was the show stopper. Everything we had from appetizers to drinks were delicious. Our party of 4 adults had 4 different dishes. They all looked exactly the same except for the selected protein. Aside from the spice, there was no flavor in any of them. No detectable garlic or ginger. After our 2 sampler appetizer platters which were marginal, our food came out lukewarm with rice that was room temperature/cold. We ate outside. Very uncomfortable seating. Nice environment but the huge number of flies was overwhelming to the the extent that none of us wanted to finish our meals. I realize the establishment has no control over the fly population but it just made things worse. I am retired & we eat out a decent amount but I have to say that all 4 meals were the worst I've experienced in a very long time. Negative 5 stars for Indochine. read more

This was a super unique spot, and we were beyond glad to have visited it! We only had a fifteen minute wait (tho we went pretty late at night), and we spent our time exploring the garden and taking pictures on the bridge. Their crab angels were absolutely DELICIOUS- it was the best crab Rangoon I've ever had in my life. Genuinely. Our entrees were also very very good. What an eclectic restaurant! Lots to look at of the Thai culture. The food is huge portions and very good. However, I didn't like the Mango and Sticky Rice. I've been to Thailand and know how it should taste. It wasn't bad but it didn't hit the spot. The server switched it out for a cheese cake which was delicious. I didn't get our servers name but she was polite and explained what came with our meal. The bathroom is clean yet very tiny. Part of the bathroom is a small seating area. Very quaint. Outside there's covered seating areas and at least 3 ponds with fish you can feed. There's so much to look at. You can tell at night it's very pretty. What a great spot to spend an evening with friends! If there is a line no worries! They have a bar and a tiki bar outback to waste time at, with some string drinks and great service. So yummy! Every time I come to Wilmington I have to go here. Always a long wait in the evenings at dinner time. We got there at 5:35pm on a Friday and there was no wait, earlier is better for dinner! The different rooms/buildings indoors are super cute. The garden is also super cute and cozy. Sat at the bar once alone which was awesome, friendly staff! My orders for beer and appetizer, and my entrée came out pretty quickly. The Cha Gio was 6 crispy fried wraps with a mostly fish dipping sauce.
