Be careful of this guy's allegiance to long-term customers…read more I had been going to him for over 50 years having grown up in West Roxbury. I started bringing my 90-year old Mom with me for semi-annual cleanings. While going to sit in the waiting room, she missed the edge of the couch and fell to the floor. Maybe a foot to a foot and a half. Not enough to cause any damage or pain. We went through the cleanings without further incident. My next appointment was sooner than Mom's next visit. As I prepared to book our next appointments after that one, I was told they are booked more than a year out. Never has that ever been the case with my scheduling follow up cleanings. The only conclusion to draw is that this "professional" was afraid of some type of legal ramifications should another "incident" occur. Given the office never reached out to me for follow ups since is beyond acceptable. I have moved on. But a word to the wise, beware of personal retaliation should something innocent happen to your Mom that can only be interpreted as simple, reprehensible treatment. Paul from West Roxbury

I began seeing Dr Sepe when he took over the practice from Dr O'Brien. I can't remember how long…read moreago that was, probably mid 1980's. He was a very good dentist, and it was great to have him work on my teeth. His technique is excellent, and he was in retrospect very affordable. He never recommended any procedure without explaining alternatives and what to expect. I moved and saw several dentists in several states and two different countries over the next twenty years. Some were good, a couple were horrific, some probably were in debt with the way they milked money out of me, and none were as good as Dr Sepe. When I visited the area over the last few years I made time to schedule a visit to Dr Sepe for basic dental care and a crown. I would rather see him than the dentists I have locally. The building and office are roughly the same as they were way back, so if you like the dentists that try to look like a modern hospital, this practice won't be that way. I prefer this place.

On an average visit he would spend around 1 minute reviewing my teeth before he was on to another patient. He would greet with me "open wide" and be out the door before I knew it. After time this concerned me and I got a second opinion. After seeing another dentist, whom had more advanced technology, I was told I had significant decay around a crown which had to be replaced at a significant cost. I believe if Dr. Tufts had been more thorough this would not have not occurred. IMHO Dr. Tufts is counting the days until he can retire and is on cruise control. I would NOT recommend.

At one appointment he told me he was okay with it as long as I didn't hold him responsible for some catastrophic dental issue that might arise from my lack of X-rays, but the following appointment 6 months later, he became very aggressive and told me I could not come back unless I agreed to his X-ray requirements. So obviously I did not return. And the fact that at first he was okay with very limited X-rays and then the next appointment he wasn't and was much more aggressive... tells me it was more about the money and not really that something could go horribly and inexplicably wrong without X-rays. I always found him a bit aggressive... maybe short-man complex... but, in fairness, he was a good dentist otherwise. Good luck.
