He explained what he was going to do and told me to give him an hour and within an hour I had heard back from him. He was able to fix my thumb drive saving me thousands of hours of time. Linked down blow is a video of Marvin telling me to go "f myself" after just calling to ask for an estimate of my personal device he had in his care. This man is an absolute Fraud and is likely to break what he touches!!!! Update: It unfortunately will not allow me to attach videos of phone call but I can assure that If anyone would like to see how Marvin speaks to his clients I'd be happy to email the video! Just ask and I'll send my email along side the video for proof. Marvin tries very hard to intimidate people who are just in need of his services by threatening to add charges to their totals for no reason especially when he never fixes the problem and only adds to the issues! Also calling them very vulgar names! If you want my honest opinion you have better luck just trying to repair your device on your own or taking it to another shop as Marvin is the worst for customer service and to provide you with help!

On August 15, 2024, I brought my device into a MacExperience shop with a pairing issue. The clerk observed the pairing issue and advised that my item was under warranty and would be repaired. The "system" was down, so I hand wrote my name, email address, mailing address, and phone number on a sheet of paper that contained no disclaimer or "fine print." More importantly, the clerk, after examining my device, wrote "won't pair" as my device's issue. As detailed below an shown in the exhibits, MacExperience (1) confirmed the diagnosis and (2) provided written assurance to repair or arrange for the repair of my device. On August 16, 2024, I received the following update from MacExperience: "Our technicians have diagnosed your repair and ordered part(s). Once the part(s) have arrived, the technician will begin the repair and you will be notified when the repair has been completed." (See Exhibit B). On August 19, 2024, I received the update that, "Our technicians have shipped your device to one of Apple's repair centers for repair. Most mail-in repairs take 5-10 days from the time they are shipped to be completed and returned to our store." However, MacExperience, notified me that would not honor their written promise because an Apple technician detected "liquid damage" with no further explanation. Neither the MacExperience clerk nor I observed any liquid damage when the MacExperience clerk examined my device; again, after examining, he wrote "won't pair" on the intake form. When pressed on honoring its written promise, MacExperience blamed "automated notifications." Keep this lack of integrity in mind when determining where to go for a Mac repair.

I couldn't start it up at all (nor could the Apple Store), and desperately needed to access a bunch of work in progress, invoices and other valuable info from my desktop. (Full disclosure, I went to another provider first, but they wanted to send my whole laptop off somewhere remote for evaluation and I wasn't comfortable with that.) I dropped it off here and they called within 24 hours to let me know they were able to recover pretty much everything I needed. I picked up the old laptop and an external HD with the data saved onto it later that day. These services aren't cheap, but the quick and successful recovery was totally worth it to me.

Somewhere along the way, certain folks involved in the project parted ways with a Castleton location becoming what I believe is now called Computer Express and this location on Pendleton Pike laying claim to the actual Computer Renaissance name. I'd had a not terrific experience with the Castleton location and also with another small computer store in the Castleton area, so the first time I popped into this store 3-4 years ago I was more than a little hesitant. I was preparing to head out on the road and would be traveling a couple hundred miles by wheelchair. I wanted a laptop that would endure and allow me to stay in touch with folks while on the road. Even though it was only a few days before I left, the folks at Computer Renaissance hooked me up with a fairly priced used Dell laptop along with a wireless adapter. They gave me a great deal on a computer that lasted for quite awhile. They answered all my questions and got me all set up for the road. Early this morning, my monitor died and I was in the middle of a pretty important project. So, I headed back to Computer Renaissance to see what kind of a deal I could find on a new or used monitor. Computer Renaissance is located in Sunnyside Shoppes in one of several strip centers in the area. It's easily visible from Pendleton Pike an even has an accessible parking spot with a ramp right in front of it. You go into their double doors and there's a service counter to the left and a showroom with mostly used models on the floor along with all the usual ancillary supplies one usually finds in a computer store including monitors, keyboards, motherboards, etc. Computer Renaissance carries desktops, laptops, notebooks, etc. They do computer repair in store or they will do housecalls ($50 for a service call, $85 for the first hour). HP, Dell and Lenovo Business-Grade laptops start at $199 (Lenovo actually starts at $149). The have Windows 10 Pro Desktops starting at $399 and Windows 10 Pro Business-Grade Desktops starting at $199. I saw an IMac 2 for right around $349 tonight (I was way tempted) and I can easily say they have something to fit just about any budget. You always want to check their website as they're usually running specials and sometimes you need to mention it to get it (for example, they have a winter special - 15% of all used desktops, 10% off all used laptops, but you have to mention the special. While the monitor that died on me was an HD monitor, I wasn't necessarily concerned about buying another one right away. They had a couple of brand new, in the box HD monitors. I've noticed that their new products do tend to run at market rates. Instead, I opted to look for a wider-screen monitor. Tonight, the widest they had was 20" - they had two ready to go and I found one that seemed perfect. It ran $59 plus tax. Most of their used monitors are rated by screen size. The prices, I've found, are fair but also reflect the fact that they do serious quality control on their merchandise. I trust these guys to not sell me junk. So far, I've not been disappointed. They added in the cables I'd need, which I think is pretty good since we're talking about used products here. One of the employees even carried it to the car for me. They take cash and credit (with ID - and they do ask for it). They do not take checks. If you're on a budget or in a time crunch, Computer Renaissance does quality work at fair prices for both selling of equipment and computer repair. While I've not had a computer repaired there, a friend has and her experience was similar to mine. They're always friendly, willing to answer questions, can typically handle rush repairs and don't try to upsell just to make a bigger profit. I'm happy and I'll definitely keep going back.

On Friday evening around 7, my external hard drive crashed. Fortunately, the "Geek Brigade" (soon…read moreto be called IT Indianapolis) had someone on hand until 9 that night. I was able to drop the old drive off and explain what I was hoping could be done. By Monday afternoon (unfortunately, they are closed weekends), I received a call that my data was recovered. Because my old drive was seven years old and had run continuously, it simply wore out and appeared to me that all my data was unretrievable. Fortunately, these guys are Wizards with computers and through some magic, were able to retrieve the data and transfer it to a new drive about the size of a phone. The new drive only runs when the computer itself is running, so it will get plenty of rest. Even though this company can serve businesses, it is great to know that they still are able to fit the home users into their schedule without making us wait without our electronics too long. I will be ordering a new computer to replace the old laptop I currently have, and I will continue to use their antivirus protection which they will set up for me. (They can even do it remotely if that is more convenient.) Great people who don't look at you crazy if you aren't computer savvy. I appreciate that! P.s. They have $10 discounts if you "check in" when you arrive. There are also Yelp discounts of $50 worth for $30 (I didn't use that, so I can't tell you how smoothly that works.) Review #134
