On a whim I decided to check this place out last Sunday. I was in desperate need of a pedicure and wanted to try someplace new. This salon is not your average setup. It's clothing in the front and nails in the back. And lots of pink. :) Right away I was offered something to drink (mimosa?! heck ya!) and shuttled over to a chair to soak. Kari did an awesome job on my feet. This is not one of those quick in and out nail shops. She took her time and seemed to actually care about what she was doing. Great place. I don't get to pamper my hands and feet often due to my busy, food-industry laden lifestyle. BUT Came in here with a girlfriend for a Girl's day. I'd suggest an appointment because they can get booked up (we definitely had appointments). Only got the pedicure, BUT it was great. Such a unique, super girly salon. Also doubles as a boutique with nice, decent priced clothing. It's not trendy but it also caters to the unique and girly pampering every girl desires. Was given a complimentary and super tasty mimosa. What's better? Watching the staff who did not have clients at the time, going through training on the latest trend in shellac. I think it's important to know that your nail tech (or anyone in the beauty business) knows the newest trends. You can always learn something new. It truly made me happy to see the training. What's even better than that? about a week later I received a thank you card with a great deal on my next visit! uh. Yes please! These girls are great and super friendly. This place is really great. My wife and I treated ourselves to pedicures and Maureen and Kat did an amazing job. All customers were clearly repeat customers which is always a good sign. I've received three shellac manicures here and although the service and drinks were nice, they all peeled after a week. I think someone else complained about that in a previous review as well, yikes. When I complained after my second manicure peeled, I was told I was past their grace period (it had been 7 days exactly) but that they would paint my nails for free. They suggested that my nail beds were the problem and that they were too oily for shellacs. It turned out that whoever did the manicure initially didn't entirely clean and scrape the old shellac off. I paid and tipped for a completely new manicure anyway. It peeled a week later. Besides the hesitance to fix poor manicures and the pricey peeling shellac, the decorations and boutique are enjoyable. I wouldn't go without an appointment since they appeared to lack a seating area, most likely so you must look at the clothes. I've been going to a different salon -- no peeling after two manicures! Guess blaming my nail beds was an easy out. read more

Recently moved to the City Park area and was eager to find a more convenient nail salon than my usual go-to downtown. Have been to File- N- Style once, but hooked and will be making it my 'regular' nail place. Great decor and ambiance- very clean - the tools are new for each client - soak tubs are beautiful with fresh flowers - staff is friendly and most importantly - the mani/pedis are great! I agree with Candace W. It is truly a girl's escape where you can chat and feel welcomed and taken care of. Highly recommend. read more

I have been here two times. I would call this place "tacky chic" - it looks like a bottle of pepto bismal exploded in this place with cheap, pink decals on everything. They offer free dollar store strawberry champagne which was nasty. The first time the person who did my nails was putting my flip flop on and smudged the nail - then was upset because I asked her to fix it. The second time a different woman cut my toe nail so short it bled, which resulted in an infection in my toe. My doctor said it was probably a result of unsanitary cleaning/tools. The bowls are portable, but the cleaning tools are reused and looked nasty. Don't bother complaining because Maureen is a bull dog, takes no accountability and will blame you, the customer. I moved to Denver about 5 months ago and had yet to find a nail salon which I liked and would do stiletto acrylics. Style n file took right away, the owner made time to see me so I could even get in earlier! Amazing experience, LOVE my nails, and I've finally found my spot!! Came in almost 2 weeks ago for a pedicure off of a recommendation. First off this place is clean! Staff is amazingly sweet and there golden retriever I wanna take home. A very cute salon and boutique! It is a girl's haven in here. Very pink and relaxed and fun. Cute clothes, bags, shoes and jewelry. They are always getting something new in. It's on Colfax and very busy and has a nice neighborhood feel. Lots of people walk in from living nearby. Everyone is very friendly and attentive. It is truly a girl's escape where you can chat and feel welcomed and taken care of. They serve champagne and mimosas as well as tea. The manicures and pedicures are wonderful. They have shellac and acrylic nails and also minx. The nail techs are all experienced and do a great, thorough job. Fresh flowers are used and the bowls and equipment are all sanitized with barbicide and alcohol so you know everything is clean and safe. They also offer waxing and airbrush tanning too. I love this salon. Everyone is so nice and friendly and they all make me feel so welcome everytime I come in. Everytime I have gone, Maureen and the other ladies have taken their time and done a fabulous job. I love that they use resin bowls for the pedicures because it's so much cleaner than what I normally see at other salons. I have been to this salon twice now and hands down it is the best salon in Denver. It's super cute and the staff is amazing. I have had my nails done by both Maureen the owner, and Heather. This last visit was amazing!! Heather is so much fun and is a perfectionist with your nails. She gave my dog treats and my nails look soooo good!!! It is a little more pricey than other salons, but you get the full package here, champagne to sip on, dog friendly, no drilling on your natural nails, CND shellac products only, (So much better than gelish polish), super clean and sanitary, cute jewelry, clothes and accessories for sale, and super friendly and knowledgable staff!!! I get a gel rebase with shellac over it, for $50, but my nails stay chip free for 2 1/2 weeks!! Def recommend this place!!! A+ read more

My whole life i have had a horrible nail biting habit. I never wanted to get manicures because going into the salons was always so embarrassing with the way my nails looked. Any time i got acrylics, i would chew them off and never refilled them. WELL - let me tell you - Maureen changed my life. She squeezed me in as a walk in, sat me down, did not shame my nails at ALL, and said "i believe in you and i am going to help you quit biting your nails". She gave me the most beautiful full set manicure and ever since i have been going back every 2 weeks. I have even called her after "relapsing" and biting a nail off for an emergency appointment, and she continues to believe in me and do great work. She also has great taste and gives wonderful guidance on styles and colors. she never rushes her work even when she has clients waiting and has great conversation. File and style has excellent customer service - there is a reason they have so many regulars! I am so impressed with the staff, cleanliness of the salon, and services. Artists! Everytime I got to a different place to get a pedicure, no matter how much time they spend or money I spend, I'm always disappointed and I go back to File-n-Style. There is one artist there who is a perfectionist and she will make sure every single removable trace of imperfection is gone from your feet and toes. I don't want to give her name because I'm afraid she'll be over-booked. haha. Selfish, huh? Please, just save yourself that "after-pedicure at home after the pedicure" and go to FnS and get it done perfectly the first time. They have a cute little boutique you can get a cute dress or accessory (plus other things) just before City Park Jazz and head out. lol. I stopped going a month ago because it was not ok that the owner, Maureen, gave me the cold shoulder and was plain rude to me. This place is so adorable. Came in here w/ my step mom for pedi/acrylics. Jasmine did my pedi & she was amazing. Really good massage! Maureen did my nails which also look amazing, & I bumped one of them but she didn't seem to hate me TOO much when having to fix it. (lol jk) I don't feel sore on my nails like I usually do, they don't just use the nail drill the whole time which is nice but you can get a file burn. But, yo, they use Brand new file every time so those edges kinda get sharp. So I mean... not really a huge problem considering you also get to take home the files. Anyway, overall a cute atmosphere, yummy mimosas, i probably will go back. Just that if you're like on a tight budget this could be very denting for your wallet because they are a higher end nail salon. Buuuuutttt the work is worth it if you can afford it because they take their time vs. your typical "in/out" nail salon that usually squeezes people & you pay money for a 6/10 result. I have just moved to this area and was looking for a new place for Mani and Pedi. Well I found it at File n Style. I was having a bad day, when I walked in everything changed. I was greeted by smiling faces and the cutest atmosphere. I was offered several choices of drinks and directed to big pink comfy chair. Melissa is who tackled the challenge of my past due pedicure and I couldn't be happier. My feet look amazing and feel so much better. Just left on my second and final trip into this store. On my first visit I was definitely a fan, I saw myself coming here to shop monthly as I hate malls but I love fashion. On my first visit the staff seemed nice, helped me pick out clothes and find the perfect sizes. My favorite item was a pair of Élan yoga pants that I feel in love with and were perfect for my upcoming vacation to Dominican Republic. Unfortunately I noticed a brown spot o them after I purchased and decided to wash it after I got home, as it seemed like a powder. When I washed them I was near tears, the pants shrunk 2-3 sizes!!! I then noticed that hidden within the pant leg was the washing instructions that I looked for and didn't find previously. I thought that since my first experience was so pleasant and I still had the original receipt that I would be able to exchange or atleast get a discount off the same pants. When I got to the store a lovely lady told me she would have to ask the owner if I could exchange for the same pair. She called and the owner told her it was my fault which it was. I asked to speak with the owner on the phone and she was so rude and basically told me "sorry, you don't know how to read the washing instruction." I would have been a loyal customer, my first spend was over $200 whereas the pants were $36. I was planning in going back to shop before my trip again which most likely would have been another $200+ spend. Marketing 101: it's cheaper to keep an existing client than acquire new ones. I will take my dollars elsewhere just because of bad customer service and care. read more

I come here every few months for a pedicure or manicure. All the girls are really sweet and really talented. I love that the pedicure bowls are actually giant bowls because I feel they can be cleaned much better than the attached to the chair kind. I just found my new favorite nail salon. This little nail shop/boutique is a gem on Colfax. I went in with my girlfriends for birthday Spa Peddies and had a great time. They made us feel right at home. After browsing the boutique and chatting with the owners we soaked our feet in big tubs filled with stones and fresh flowers (which are completely rinsed and sanitized after each user). Then you get the full treatment with your own tools that are then saved in individual bags for you next visit. They spent a lot of time on massage and buffing/smoothing the bottoms of my feet. I've been to similar salons that don't work the calluses like these gals do - THANK YOU! They also offer waxing services and massage at very reasonable prices. Their clothing boutique in the salon is filled with cute dresses and accessories. So you can shop and dry! Within in the next few months they will be opening a shoe boutique adjacent to the store and also will be carrying Hanky Pankys in the clothing boutique. Can't wait! Make sure you get on their mailing list as Maureen (the awesome super friendly owner) runs specials all the time. read more

I definitely wouldn't believe the reviewer who says she was yelled at by the owner of this place. They couldn't be nicer at File N Style and when I've had problems with my nails they have always been willing to fix. My nails always look great when they're finished. I have also had some issues with Shellac staying on as long as it's supposed to, and for the price you pay that can be a bummer. But it's still my go-to place because the staff is so friendly and eager-to-please that the overall manicure experience is one of the best ones I've had. I had a friend in town and we decided to do pedis last minute. They were very accommodating in scheduling us and the price was right. I very rarely get pedicures (I am a nail tech) because I usually am disappointed. Meghan did my pedi and she was gentle but thorough and did a great job with the polish. I didn't give 5 stars because the place could use some sprucing up and tidying of stuff lying about but the actual service was awesome. Between 3 and 4 stars, not terribly disappointed, but not that enthused either. Kind of a boring experience. My biggest complaint is that this salon is particularly chemically/congested, even compared to other nail&hair places. I was taking shallow breaths the entire 45 minutes. I was sandwiched between three regulars, so was kind of ignored my entire pedicure while all the technicians and regulars gabbed away. A bit awkward and lonely! Anyway, pedicure came out decent, but not any better than my own at-home pedis. She put my flip flops on at the end to rush me out, and grazed my baby toe, smeared the polish, and rushed me out anyways. Meh. read more

After having my hand in a cast and not being able to use nail clippers I was most definitely due for a pedicure! I called around on my one afternoon off and sure enough I was able to score an appt at File-N-style. I drove down Colfax knowing approximately where I had seen this boutique, but due to the bad signage and the whole front being clothing I drove right past and had to loop back. The clothing they carry is cute, but it makes it hard for people to see this is a nail place. Once you get past the clothing everything is PINK, overwhelmingly PINK. I realize this is a salon, but it screams 10 year old girl. One of the reasons I called this salon was because they do the minx mani/pedis. However, after I got there and went through both of the books of choices I realized they didn't have any of the top ones I had picked out online. Rachelle did my pedi and even though they didn't have the specific minx I wanted she assured me that they would be getting more in soon and she helped me pick out a great design from the remaining choices. My pedi was great overall and Rachelle is fantastic, but I think that 58$ is ridiculous for a basic minx pedi. More than likely I will be back since the hour Rachelle spent on my feet was great, it was clear that she had been doing this for over a decade by her attention to detail. Next time I'll probably just book Rachelle for a regular mani and save the minx pedi for somewhere else that either charges less or includes other perks (like a hot stone or calf massage) in that charge. If you are booking a mani/pedi call ahead and ask for an appt with Rachelle, she's great and ensures that you leave happy! read more

I came in with my daughter for a mani/pedi. We were first greeted by the owner's adorable and sweet dog, Boo. My daughter was delighted. Jasmine did my pedicure. She was very sweet and attentive. Maureen did both my and my daughter's nails. She was so sweet and patient with my daughter.
