Thanks to the Metro Extension going more west, my wife and I decided to head to the grove over the weekend to walk around, which we usually avoid thanks to the crappy parking situation. When we arrived at the Grove, the first thing we wanted were some drinks so we headed over to Figure 8 Tea Project. This place was crazy busy when we got in line but the staff moved quickly and eventually it was our turn to order. I ordered the literal first thing I saw on the counter and that was the Sparkling Yuzu Lemonade. Now, I've had a whole lot of lemonade since moving to LA and this just might be some of the best I've had. The taste was fantastic, my thirst was quenched, and I left definitely knowing this is a place I'll be returning too in the future. boyfriend and i came here a little while back on an impulse when searching up a place to get some sweet drinks. we hadn't realized it was located inside the farmers market at the grove, so it was a bit of a pain to get to, but it comes with the territory. it's a small little shop, like most of the ones at the farmer's market are, and they have a decent range of drinks. considering we had gone later in the night, the girl who took our order was very nice and patient when we were deliberating on our choices and was helpful in providing her own two cents. in the end, my boyfriend had ordered the strawberry sparkles and i had ordered the sparkling yuzu lemonade, both with lychee jelly. unfortunately, we found the strawberry drink to be overpowered by the strawberry purée and resulting in a not-so-pleasant syrup-y taste. the sparking yuzu, however, was exactly what i had been craving. it was very light and refreshing, a good mix of tart and sweet. it's a bit pricey, but i'd go back to get some of the order drinks if i was in the area (i know the bf already has)! read more

For a farmers market stall, this spot really surprised me. In a good way!!! I was a little hesitant at first because the setup didn't quite reflect what they were serving, but the drinks themselves were genuinely impressive. Everything was well-balanced and not overly sweet, which I appreciated. The boba, in particular, stood out. it had great flavor and texture overall, I really enjoyed it even though it leaned slightly on the chewier side and stuck to my teeth a bit. Honestly, I didn't mind but worth noting cause I know that some people really do not like that. If anything, I'd recommend they upgrade the look of their stall to better match the quality of their drinks, because the product deserves it. I think the cute packaging really helps and also being at the cool location at the bustling Original Farmers Market that I love going to whenever I'm in L.A. However, the drinks here are really good and refreshing, too. It's a plus to me that their drinks aren't too sweet. My go-to's are their Sparkling Yuzu Lemonade and Summer Mango Oolong. These drinks always hit the spot and quenches my thirst without making me feel too bloated and heavy... and icky from all the drinks that are too sugary and milky. There is no large menu to view options while standing in line. Giving the customer too many options to customize their drink without being exposed to the menu ahead of time creates long lines and longer wait times. We were really craving fruit tea but are always skeptical of boba/tea shops away from the main hub of 626 valley and decided to try this spot out despite little reviews. Ordered the passionfruit tea with lychee jelly at half sugar. We were told that regular sugar here starts at half sugar but it was still kinda sweet for me so definitely go for 25% if that is what you usually get. Located inside the farmer's market is this super cute boba tea shop that's definitely worth a stop. We ordered the classic milk tea with boba and the strawberry cream with boba, and both were fantastic. The boba was amazing--perfectly cooked with just the right amount of chewiness and sweetness. The strawberry in the strawberry cream drink tasted fresh and natural, not artificial at all, which was a huge plus. The classic milk tea really hit the spot and was smooth and well balanced. Even though they were really busy, our drinks came out quickly and the service was very friendly. Figure 8 was a great treat! I have been to The Grove farmers market countless times and never noticed a boba spot here. Nonetheless, I was SO excited that there was a tea vendor. I loved the menu options! We tried and ordered the iced passion fruit green tea and the summer mango oolong tea. The service was fast, the barista was open to answering all of our questions prior to ordering and was also accommodating enough to adjust the sweetness of one of the teas after tasting. I also loved that they had an actual punch card - not many businesses do this anymore as most rewards systems are online so it felt kind of nostalgic to be offered one. read more

The Farmer's Market at The Grove was BUSY!! We almost missed Figure 8 Tea Project while walking through the crowd. They have a small, but flavorful menu. Drinks are customized, so it seems that people ordering ahead of you are taking a while, but in reality, the staff member is asking at least two questions for every drink order. They take their time to make sure each one is just as you want it. Then when our order came out, a staff member went over each drink and told us that they are happy to make adjustments if we need it. They're located in the farmers market area of The Grove so you definitely have to look for them but the drink was really good. I had the sparkling lemonade I think it was called and added mango jellies to it. Would definitely go back for it. I feel like it was a little pricey but the drink size was fairly large. I appreciated the server letting me know I could add different things to my drink and showed me the options as well. Very cute and yummy boba counter at the grove in the food court area. It can be hard to find but it's near a staircase to upstairs seating. It was super crowded but the line and order moved quickly. Servers were friendly and they seemed well staffed. Boba was great texture and flavor. I think my Thai tea could have been a stronger flavor but it was still good. The faces on the boba lids was super cute too. The main downside is they use bamboo straws which are super delicate and crack easily. They said to be careful when handing over the straws, but didn't explain why the extra caution was needed. Good place to get your boba fix at the grove. read more

I really wanted to give this place a lower score, but I suppose that they hit the marks for what is deemed as a suitable boba drink. As I have been able to try different drinks at different places all across Southern California, I think that the tea falls flat and has a loss of quality since its operating in a food market/ the grove area. You don't realize your life needed a boba spot at the Farmers Market until it opened and I'm so happy! I had the mango tea with boba with "less sweet" option and it's sweet enough and delicious!!! Best boba in LA! This place is bomb. The drinks are all thoughtful and delicious, and the staff is knowledgeable and very kind. You can adjust the sugar level on just about every drink that I've tried, since I don't like a lot of sugar. Green milk tea includes boba and is my fave, and I get oat milk and less sweet. I love that this place offers oat and almond milk for no extra charge, also. Other honorable mentions for yummy drinks are the banana foster latte, which has no coffee and is on the sweeter side but is so good and tastes like banana bread batter (fyi pretty sure this drink altered my brain chemistry - for the better lol). Also the sparkling yuzu lemonade is so refreshing, try it with strawberry puree added. Black matcha latte is good too if you like lots of caffeine and floral/earl grey/english breakfast tea vibes. You can also get a stamp card, and you get a free drink after 9 stamps. As a regular this has come in handy. They also validate for Farmer's Market parking, so just park in the FM lots and ask for a validated parking ticket when you get your boba. This place gets busy on the weekends cause it's next to The Grove, but still I've never waited more than 5 minutes for my drinks; on the weekdays it's more chill.
