He intentionally did it because the can was far and he had to reach over the gelato display for it. I called him out and he got a clean spoon. That took us back and we made sure to watch his every move. Absolutely disgusting. Other issues were the gelato wasn't smooth and creamy, as if it was old and had freezer burn. I had a scoop of the Stracciatella and Tiramisu (2 scoops on cone, $7.53 after tax). You also had to pay for the gelato before getting a sample or what you want, which is different from the norm and confusing. The workers repeated this to several people. You won't be able to get the classic An's experience of trying every flavor and going through the flavor descriptions at the counter but at least you'll save yourself some time and still be able to try at least one flavor of gelato! I LOVE any of the flavors with the little cake/cookie bits in it! Right now they're doing fall flavors so I got the cloche hat which has delicious spiced apple cake pieces in it! The textures of the cake pieces really just do it for me :) The decor is super cute! I love how each An's has a different theme to it! This one is really charming with the little tables shaped like ironing boards. Street parking only which is typical for north park, I would recommend to come on a weekday if you can for easier parking and to avoid long lines!

After waiting almost an hour in the rain, I finally reached the front of the store to queue the interior line. Unfortunately for me, the current season's linens had a matcha theme, but at least there were 2 options that nixed the matcha ingredient. Once at the counter, the friendly dry cleaning attendants took my party on a flight through all the flavors that An had on display for the season. It was a really cool experience and definitely the highlight of the visit, as I've never seen any gelato parlor that offered the option for guests to sample all their wares. At the end of the sample flight, I decided to get a tall size of the Mix Master with the Greensboro. Maybe the hype, the unique concept of the store, and all the glowing reviews made me have really high expectations, but I thought the gelato itself was just fine. The flavors were very light and the texture wasn't as rich and creamy as I had at other shops. The execution of running a gelato shop under the guise of a dry cleaners was really fun and quirky, but I don't know if I would wait in such a long line for their gelato again the next time I visit San Diego.
