    Strawberry matcha
    Ruby J.

We went last night around 7:30 and it was delicious! I got the strawberry matcha special on a cake cone. They were unfortunately out of waffle cones but it was understandable because it was pretty late on a beautiful day outside. The employees were very kind and gave us napkins without us asking!!

pistachio and hazelnut cookies and cream

If this photo doesn't display how wonderful the ice cream is then i don't know what will. The pistachio flavor was THE CREAMIEST ice cream i have ever had. And the hazelnut cookies and cream was excellent. This place had a decent line which is always a good sign and we weren't disappointed. Staff were very friendly and they do provide samples. Plus I loved the wall of doggie polaroids - so cute!

Love the unique ice cream flavors served here alongside the classics. I tried a chocolate brownie flavor and a scoop of mint chip, while my boyfriend opted for honeycomb and a coffee flavor in a waffle cone. Everything we tasted was delicious. I've seen them advertise a sweet corn flavor at one point and I'm hoping that one day it will be back on the menu so I can try it next! Super cute vibe within the store and the staff are quick and friendly with getting everyone the combos they're wanting.

    Brown butter crepes
    Tiffany T.

My cousin was raving about the crepes here and she wasn't wrong! First of all they're freshly made and perfectly packed with the right amount of filling. We had the brown butter crepes which were so buttery (almost too much) but the crepes were so well done we couldn't stop ourselves. Would definitely visit again and recommend!

I was in the mood for ice cream after dinner at La Dona. The other place had a line, but I remembered Scoops from walking around last time and thought I'd give it a try. It's on the strip so lots of walking traffic. They have some tables outside which is nice. Inside smells so good! Looking at the menu, the passion fruit sorbet caught my eye. I also thought the brown sugar? butter? cookie dough? brownie? looked interesting...and it sure was good! Since it was Cako's birthday, I got her some peanut butter ice cream with a little whipped cream...she really liked this! Definitely worth stopping into if you're in the neighborhood. It's good to know there's another sweet option! Cako Approves!

SWEET REVIEW: CAPTAIN 619 & THE GENERAL "TASTE THE OFFER YOU CAN'T REFUSE" Listen here, see? Me and The General--my consigliere in all things creamy--made our first visit to Scoops Ocean Beach, and let's just say... this joint's got flavors that'd make the Five Families jealous. The Order: - Vanilla Bean (solid, classy, like a clean suit). - Strawberry (fuggedaboutit--this is my kryptonite, capiche? One taste and you're sleeping with the fishes... of addiction). - The General's Move: Chocolate Brownie. She don't play games--this dame called it "a hit so rich, even Don Corleone would pay tribute." Now let's talk business: - Strawberry Ice Cream: A masterpiece. Pure, no funny business. So good, I ordered a shake to-go... but madonn'! That shake? Watered down like a rat singing to the feds. Stick to the virgin strawberry--it's the real capo dei capi. - The Crew: Shoutout to Ali, the Don of Dairy, and her crew. These soldati let us sample flavors like we owned the place. Friendly? They treated us like family--and in our line of work, that's respect. - Waffle Cones: Yo, listen--these cones? They're the godfather of crispy. The smell? Permeates the joint like a backroom deal. Taste? Like a San Francisco fortune cookie whispered secrets to a Belgian baker. Sweet, toasty, with a hint of "you just made an offer you can't refuse." Final Word, capeesh? San Diego's got a new flavor empire. If you ain't stopping by Scoops OB, you're missing out on the sweetest protection racket in town. Remember: The strawberry's your kryptonite. Ali's your go-to. And The General? She'll whack your doubts with a chocolate spoon. -- Captain 619 (& The General, who never leaves witnesses... or uneaten ice cream).

Solid place to get a nice cold, sweet treat while in the area. They had some interesting flavors on the menu board, and did allow for sampling when asked. The staff were real cool, and were great even though we were a larger group that came in. I really enjoyed the ice cream, and I'd say they gave appropriate sized scoops. The whole group had positive things to say about the ice cream. It was good and a nice treat to enjoy there or while walking around the very interesting neighborhood.

My friends and I wanted to get dessert after dinner and we wanted to try somewhere new. So we checked this place out. Best. Decision. Ever! If you haven't been here yet you need to go. I have heard that there is always a line out the door but when we got there it was empty so we got there at a great time!! Their ice cream is sooo delicious! I couldn't stop saying how good it was and that I couldn't wait to go back! I got one scoop and they are very generous with their scoops which is awesome!! I mean who doesn't love that!? lol They do run out of flavors fast and they do update the boards but they do have a lot of other amazing and delicious flavors still left to try and taste. The service is great! Everyone in there is absolutely amazing and nice! You are allowed to do samples of the ice cream. They are very generous with the samples. The line does move fast so don't worry you're never going to have to wait long. The shop is super cute! Love the vibe. They also have ice cream for your pets. And if you buy one for them they will put a photo of your pet on their wall. They have seating inside and outside.

Chocolate ice cream with peanut butter cups topping
    Missy B.

Tried out the new ice cream spot on Newport--Scoops--and it totally hit the spot. They've got a bunch of fun flavors and a ton of topping choices. I went with chocolate and added peanut butter cups, and the best part? They actually mix the toppings in instead of just tossing them on top. It's the little things, you know? The place is dog-friendly too, which I love. They'll even snap a pic of your pup for their wall of fame and offer a little doggie scoop--so cute. You can choose from cake, waffle, or sugar cones, and there are a few outdoor tables if you want to hang out and enjoy. Definitely a sweet addition to OB!

A super cute ice cream shop at ocean beach! The place is clean, and the staff are friendly! They also offer dog ice cream which we love because the doggos deserve everything! I had a scoop of strawberry ice cream on a hot day! It was creamy, refreshing and yummy! So many flavors and toppings to choose from! I got mine with hot fudge! Looking for ice cream in ocean beach, check this place out!

'Living the Sweet Life' with vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream
    Henri V.

Here's the Scoop! Ocean Beach is it's third ice cream shop open here, the first and second are in La Jolla. Street parking can be a challenge. Note: Wednesdays the farmers market is on Newport which is the same street this ice cream shop is on and some streets are blocked off, so parking is more of a challenge. While out and about in Ocean Beach, I stopped inside this newly opened ice cream shop. It is small but had limited outdoor and indoor seating, was bright clean and as I observed the staff of servers behind the counter, they wore new gloves before serving each customer, and this practice of cleanliness scores high in my book. The nice and cool server, Sam washed her hands and put on new gloves before serving me and she had a genuine positive attitude, and I made sure I said I appreciate and thanked her :) The menu also offers coffee drinks, açai bowls and crepes. It's my understanding that Scoops sources it's ice cream from Van Leeuwen ice cream, who makes hand crafted ice cream using simple and natural ingredients. The ice cream menu listed classic ice cream flavors as well as vegan flavors. The later is what appealed to me and chose the Oat strawberry shortcake and the Oat Chocolate Chip cookie dough in the smallest cup, both flavors were not too sweet and just so yummy! Even my pup Fendi liked it. Some of the Ice cream flavors are seasonal so new flavors are created and I would certainly agree with their moniker: 'Living the Sweet Life,' with Scoops ice cream. Recommend!!

The cutest spot! And there was no line! I got the honeycomb and that was amazing omg! They had plenty of different flavors and you can try samples. Everyone working there is super friendly too. What a cute spot and tasted amazing!!!
