When you get there it is super loud and extremely crowded sketchy area. The reviews on google are definitely accurate in comparison to the ones here on yelp. I took a client here that landed for the first time in California and I felt asked and tricked by their advertising. This place is waterfront! They have a nice patio with heaters, so don't fear We arrived at about 9 on a weekday and it got busy right after that. It's very cute and they play Brazilian music, that alone is amazing. Food wise we had: * ham and cheese croissants: daughter said the croissant was very flaky and buttery, had the right ratio of cheese and ham. * chorizo omelette: it was a big plate with potatoes, chorizo, toast and ham. If you're hungry, go for it. * pepita toast: at first my daughters were suspicious of this banana, blueberry, coconut toast, but after the first bite they were kinda fighting for the next one and they are not fans of coconut so that says a lot!!! *gravlox and egg toast: super yummy! I'm gluten free and they have gf toast which is a huge win for me. Flavor wise it is very interesting! The capers add that salty flavor which the onions add a bit acidic to the eggs. It is very filling and a very tasty combo. The only downside is that they have a F GF carrot cake in the menu that for gluten free people it is misleading as they said it is NOT gluten-free, so watch out my GF peeps!!!! read more

Every time I go to Venice Beach I pop into Fig Tree! Our waiter Adam, was so friendly and sweet. I wanted a Mezcal drink and he was so good about making sure that I had the perfect cocktail. I love the food there. I was just in the mood to have a drink and some coffee with some snacks so we had some fries and some appetizers. I highly recommend this place. Ask for Adam. Ceviche had very little fish in it and was lacking any punchy flavor; just kind of bland. There were also sooooooo many chips with it - the plate was filled with tortilla chips rather than ceviche. A couple other orders came out wrong and rather than remake them, they just sent out the additional ingredients as sides. All staff we encountered were super friendly and helpful! Are the food/cocktails a little overpriced...yes! The cocktails were good just overpriced for the smallest glass ever (about $20). Would probably just get a coffee or iced tea or something next time. I had the strozzapreti pasta with crab. It was fine..maybe a tiny bit bland though and I swear I had like one tiny shred of crab in there. I had drowned it with lemon just so I can have a little more flavor. It'd be better if it had a little cream or more cheese or something. I also had picked out a bunch of dead herbs lol That plate was about $30. We also tried the ceviche ($16) and guac ($12). The guac was a hit! The salsas that came with it were really good too. My dad makes the best ceviche so nothing ever compares to his. My friend seemed to like it though..except the chips. The tortilla chips taste too much like lard and corn. Sometimes all you need is a basic ass tortilla chip and this was one of those times. The chips they had took away the flavor of the food. Made the mistake of having lunch here for the first time today, twenty minutes went by before we were greeted at our table. The server seemed uninterested and in a hurry to get the order and go on his lunch break in front of us. The food was overpriced for small portions. The shrimp roll had all lettuce and celery not much shrimp at all for charging $20 for the dish. The $23 dollar nachos was the smallest bowl I have ever seen for a "shareable appetizer". The location is nice but that's about it. The service was really awful and just trying to get our bill took 20 minutes, we finally stood up and asked to pay so we can leave. We had to call the waiter to our table for everything from ordering to getting a check, otherwise they never show up at our table. We were assigned a corner seat where it's cold in early morning. I've been coming here quite often, and the service is great every time. My go to for brunch are usually pancakes, and I have ordered them twice. After a lovely lunch my wife and I had here, we needed to give our baby some milk and asked for bottled water. They only had unrefrigerated ones and they felt bad about it. So to make up for it, Adam at Fig Tree Cafe gave us a complimentary dessert. He didn't need to do that for us but went out of his way to satisfy his customers. The huevos rancheros isn't worth it at all, the plate is smaller than avocado toast. Our server was nice in the beginning but didn't even tell us that his tip would be included at the end and then when you pay it asks you to give them even more of a tip. The food was okay and we ordered cappuccinos, we didn't get them until someone had already taken our food plates away. They didn't even offer to discount it and just laughed about it. Very upset as we live right next to fig tree and wanted a nice spot to go to but now that they made us uncomfortable with even paying for our food, he split our bill and made it very confusing, so he ended up getting even more of a tip that was not deserved.
