I've been to two Peruvian restaurants, one in Bethel, and this one. If I have to choose, I loved Fiesta Limena the most. The other place is fine, but Fiesta was just better. One word: AJI. It's this delicious, semi-spicy green chile sauce, and it goes on anything. Tacos, enchiladas, steak, eggs, rice, veggies, quesadillas, you name it, you gotta use it. I love Aji so much that I discovered you can straight up buy it in store. They have various sizes and prices, so if you like it, buy a container for yourself. I can eat it with just rice or bread. The food here is excellent. Bistec a lo pobre is my fave. The rice, meat, and eggs are cooked perfectly. Plaintains are delicious. The portions are large, the food is cooked well, and presented nicely. It's always busy, and there can be a wait. I suggest you try to go before the dinner rushers come in. It's kid friendly, and full of energy. I see you looking at the Subway next door. I see you. I know you deserve better than a sloppy subwich. Don't hate yourself, love yourself. I was staying in the area and went here for dinner after reading over reviews. Per someone's recommendation I ordered the mango drink. I had a nice taste of HFCS as soon as I had it. Bleh. I tried the mixed ceviche then, good selection of shrimp/fish/squid. Not as much shrimp as I had hoped, but good size. I then had the lomo saltado. I was intrigued never having anything like it before, but reading about the other reviews. After a few bites, I was disappointed, the beef was overcooked. After a few more, I realized there were just a few overcooked and the rest was wonderful. The sauce, mixed with the rice/fries was great. I liked it so much I went back a few weeks later again. Nice decent restaurant, nothing fancy, their menu has a lot of choices, i went for the Jalea seafood and my husband Seafood Salteado, everything was bland no flavor and they only carry three choices of wine thats what the waitress told me, but they have a display of wine bottles I don't know for what if they don't sell those. I work in the food industry and I know what goes around and all. This past Thursday evening I got a whole chicken with tostones and rice. The ají sauce seemed a lil off but I ate it anyways. I woke up at 6 am the following day throwing up and you know the rest that comes with food poisoning. I even had a 100 degree fever. Fever went down and nausea as well. Takes literally 10 to 15 minutes for them to make a margarita. It's actually crazy. I've been here 3 times and I'm always amazed by that fact. There is also some issue they need to work out with flies swarming your table, which is a huge issue and ruins your dining experience because you're constantly swatting. I come here all the time for lunch. The food is fantastic. I used to get the Lomo Saltado but have since switched to the Milanesa de Carne. I've never been here for dinner but for lunch, you can't beat a whole breaded steak and a huge portion of rice and salad for $9. And of course unlimited bread and Aji sauce. The bread is just simple slices of Italian bread but with that sauce it's addicting. It's small and there are no TVs... 1st time at the Norwalk location for take out and was surprised about the regular size Lomo Saltado. They put as much meat and French fries as the lunch portion and filled the rest with rice. This place can definitely use an update, the decor is rather dated and the view of the kitchen is an eye sore. The waitstaff we're friendly but the language barrier was hard to deal with. Normally I order out but today I went in with my 3 year old for dinner. It took almost 8 minutes for sometime to come to the front to seat us. Once we were seated no one came back at all. We used the restroom 15 min from being seated. Then once we came back I patiently waited for another 8 minutes. In that time 2 waitresses came to delivery drinks and food to the other tables neither looked in my direction for me to alert them that I'd at least like to order a drink for myself and my 3 year old. Delicious! Hands down this has to be the best Peruvian food in Fairfield County. Today we decided to carry out. Normally we bring our family and friends here when we want to break bread with them rather than cook it. The gentleman over the phone was nice. We picked up in 15 minutes as suggested by him. They accept credit cards, some places do not. I purchased the Lomo Saltado with a side of sweet plantains. It was fantastic. Packaged correctly and came with utensils. The MacDonalds Peruvian style. Limited offerings that are to Peruvian food what MacDonalds is to hamburgers. The best item is the classic green sauce unique to this cuisine. Overall ok for takeout once, dining in is not suggested as the service is poor and the multiple servers are not coordinated such that the entree comes before the appetizer. I found it very odd that a 20% gratuity was added to my bill for dine in service on Friday night. The bill was $55 for 2 people (2 mojitos, sopa pescado, 2 polla saltados). $66 once the 20% gratuity was added. After I already handed over my card and was given the receipt to sign I noticed the receipt stated additional gratuity. and that 20% had ALREADY been added. For the sub par service and barely edible pollo saltada this is just ridiculous. It's always a good sign to see a packed restaurant when you enter. The Mussels Soup was light and flavorful. The Lomo Saltado and Seafood Paella were equally delicious. This is a no-frills, neighborhood Peruvian restaurant. The prices are really good and you get a huge amount of food. I absolutely love coming here because it's super satisfying. Obviously, their Customer Favorites are a big hit (the Saltados and the Half-Chicken). Their Ceviche and Aji are very good. You actually get a surprising amount and variety of seafood for their seafood, considering the cost. The Pescado a lo Macho changes depending on what fish is available but definitely a recommendation. Aji de Gallina is listed as an appetizer but you definitely can eat it as an entree. read more

Polo saltado DID remind me of Chinese food (as mentioned by another reviewer)...only saltier. It was nice, but did keep me ordering beers (...not that there's anything wrong with that...). My husband has come to this restaurant several times for lunch and he always gets the Lomo Salteado. Tonight I joined him for the first time and I can now vouch that it is delicious. The portions are quite large and the service was good. And their pisco sour is the best I have tasted since we have been in the US! I used to be a regular costumer here I would order take out 2-3 times a week. Even though the service was horrible I loved the food and the green sauce was to die for. About a year an half ago I started noticing the qualify of the food was not a good or what it used to be so after ordering 2 lomos within the same week They were terrible so I decided to look for an alternative. Which I found at mochica Restaurant also in Norwalk. However 4th of July I was craving this meal again and the place I go to was closed so I decided to give fiesta another try. I ordered the lomo and 3 dollar of their ají When I got home and started eating I noticed the green sauce tasted a little sour.. And the lomo was very fatty and looked very dark almost felt too heavy. I ate it cause I was hungry. The next day when I woke up I had all the symptoms of food poisoning. It was their food, it made me so sick I had to skip work and other events I had planned. Horrible service. Just went there yesterday, Friday, December 8, 2016. Requested to sit in a bench table, and were told no( because we were a party of 2). The place was not packed or busy. There were many tables available and we were told that those tables were for parties of 6 or 8. We decided to wait but after about 7 minutes, and yet no contact, we decided to leave. I would have understood if when we arrived and other parties were arriving I would have understood, but that was not the case.
