Fielding did an AMAZING job removing our 65 year old maple tree from our backyard. They used a huge crane to take some of the crew up and over the 75 foot tree in our front yard, into the backyard and onto the maple tree to be removed. The owner of Fielding was one of those men. They did it with precision. When they laid down the large parts of the tree in the front street, there were at least 8 guys with their chain saws cutting the pieces up and throwing them in the wood chipper. Also, there was another 65 year old maple tree next to the one that was removed and they were close together. It had to be topped and trimmed. I was worried that it would look terrible. I don't know how they did it. The arborist, Erik, was directing them regarding every branch they trimmed in the remaining tree. It actually looks beautiful. The crew was professional and so polite. It had been exposed to wind and heavy wet snow. The leaves were chlorinated and needed iron. We called Fielding Tree Service to trim branches and save the tree. They were very judicious about which branches to trim and the shape and bounce-back of the branches looked so much better when they were finished. Friendly and efficient group! They cleaned up the trimmed limbs through a chipper. Some trimmers will pickup extra branches that happen to be lying around, but that didn't happen. However- the bid price made up for that so it's ok! Hopefully my trees will be able to manage the snow that's coming now and be healthy this spring! read more

I had my winter trimming and shaping completed so that this spring my trees have their best chances against the heavy snow. Pest treatment, fertilization, and maintenance have been very affordable. Fielding came to our house for service many months ago, and I wasn't happy with the work that they did. I have three trees near my house that I wanted trimmed. They are close to the house, blocking the view and the sun, and there are lot of limbs that are hanging over the roof. Here's the scope of the work in the quote - Thinning for better light penetration - Raise skirt to about 1-2 feet - Improve roof clearances They raised the skirt no problem, and did a decent job removing most of the tree limbs near the roof. However - the guys put up a fight about thinning for better light penetration, saying that "microtrimming" was not in the scope of the work. I argued with them a bit since thinning was, and they hesitantly cut a few more limbs. I still wasn't happy after this, but it was obvious he didn't want to do any more work, so I let it go. It was already a fight to get him to do what he did. I even tipped these guys $50/person (x 2), and they charged maybe another $100-$150 on top of the quote, I guess for the 'extra work'. Since the service, I bought a tree trimmer from Harbor Freight. I intended to trim some of the other trees in our yard as they were blocking my security cameras. Our landscaper saw it and offered to do the work. He trimmed 5 of our trees for maybe $300 including the 3 trees Fielding worked on. The work was pretty fast even with the cheapo saw; it took a lot longer to break down the limbs for hauling away, which was included in the $300 charge, and which we did together at our community collection center. They didn't quite go as high as Fielding - they only went as far as the pole would go, but they did at least the same amount of work that Fielding did. I am disappointed that I waited months for Fielding to do the work I asked for, it was expensive, and they didn't even do what I asked for and what they said they would do. I tried calling Fielding to voice my complaint, but their system is a nightmare. I don't recommend Fielding. read more

We live in a neighborhood of Denver that has some very old trees, most of which go uncared for. Trees are history though, and we wanted to make an investment in caring for the two large trees on our lot; "Titan" the gigantic tree of then unknown species and the old apple tree in our back yard. We called a few companies for quotes and did our research on average costs and services in Denver. Fielding came out on top because of Gabe's quick response and knowledgeable friendliness. Technically, Gabe's was the higher bid (by $34), but we found that he was offering more bang for each buck. As it turns out, Gabe took one look at the apple tree and gave us the sad news that it had a severe infection that would take a lot more time, effort, and money than was probably worthwhile. It could be done however, if that was what we wanted. Good news came when he (on-sight) identified Titan as a Siberian Elm and said that with some good pruning, the tree was a keeper. He was also rather excited to climb the 50ft+ tall tree. I like/d his enthusiasm. We opted in to have Titan pruned and fertilized and have the apple tree as well as a smaller Siberian elm by our fence cut down. We kept the apple wood, it's going to be great for smoking meats. When Gabe and Crew came by, they set up and went to work. They all work well together and you could tell that they not only were having fun, but enjoyed the job itself. Very proactive. Frank was even in the back working on the apple tree while the rest were taking care of Titan. Overall they delivered superbly the services I requested, and in a timely manner. I paid by card easy. I also just had fun watching them and talking to them a bit while they took a break. Titan is looking a great deal better, and I will be requesting Fielding to work on my small plum tree once the budget allows for it. Thanks guys! Have fun the rest of the year! read more

Long story short, I called about 6 companies for quotes. The majority of them didn't need me there for the quote since the tree was in the front yard. When Fielding came to give me a quote I forgot to even ask if they wanted me there. Erik shows up, I am not there and he was a little angry that I wasn't, understandable but as I said, he was able to do the quote regardless. Then I get this email, " Hi Erica, Just wanted to let you know that Fielding Tree Care will not be providing you with a quote to Remove your trees on Hazel Ct. After looking at them this morning, it became apparent quite quickly that all of the "issues" involved outweigh any benefit we might get from the project. It is very complicated, requiring technical equipment and road closure among other items. I wish you the best. Advise considering one of the larger companies in the metro region that may have specialized equipment (such as a crane)." That came across as pretty rude to me, I took it as "issues" being me.. I reached out to the owner Gabe who was apologetic and said he would follow up with me later and didn't. I went with a different company, who was got the job done without a crane, no road closure and significantly cheaper than anyone else. The damage from the broken branch compromised the integrity of the entire tree, so we unfortunately had to take the rest down. I really appreciated that they gave me honest advice and ideas regarding one of my elms which isn't in the best shape. Three things I love: saving money, supporting small business, and not cutting down trees. By using Fielding, I was able to do all three! Their bid was less than half of the next cheapest competitor's and they were the only ones to propose just trimming rather than removing a tree that we want to keep. They were very responsive and communicative via phone, text and email. They had a cancellation and so were able to do the job in less than a week. Gabe was priced right, did a great job and though he was difficult to get ahold of (a lot of phone tag/communicating back and forth via VM) he provided great service. His crew also cleaned up so well we could hardly tell they'd been there- except for my prettied up trees, of course. He trimmed two HUGE cottonwood trees in our backyard that were long overdue. They look wonderful! He was quick to get out to provide a bid, easy enough to schedule with, and when we had one particular dead branch that seemed to have been missed he was gracious about fixing it before expecting payment. We didn't have to be there for the service and he accepted credit card over the phone.
