I've giving Comcast's Technical Services a thumbs up. We lost power in the last big snowstorm and…read moreI used a battery back up unit to power my modem and actually enjoyed the Internet despite having no power for the day. But the next day the Internet speed had started to crawl to less than dial up speeds and keep dropping connections. One minute it would be good, then crawling, then nothing. I called the technical line and they ran me through all of the obvious things like checking the connection and restarting the modem. I thought it has to be the line. So they sent out a guy to the house who checked everything out. He noticed some levels were off so he authorized a line guy to come out (who was there in a few hours), he also went up on a ladder to check out the lines on the pole. The line guy came and noticed a few loose screws and tamped down the levels to where they should be. Meanwhile, the inside guy tried out his modem and laptop on my inside connection and was getting some great speeds. So it probably was a combination of some line issues but mainly the modem was failing. I ordered a new modem and router to replace the single unit gateway that was using and BOOM I started getting all of the speed I was paying for. So much for the $200 gateway (modem and router combined) I purchased thinking I was future proofing my setup. I replaced it with an $89 modem and $100 router. Maybe this way if one goes I can just replace a single, less expensive piece.

I have always had an issue with the dishonesty of the cost presentation at the initiation of service. I recently added home wireless internet advertised at $40 per month, got billed at $60 which I was able to get reduced with customer service as I was paperless billing and autopay. What P'dMO is the carrier fee charges. $34.79 per month, noted by the agent in Claremont as a few dollars but they didnt know how much. Now you know. Deceitful and dishonest presentation... a lie by omission. I always emphatically ask how much the monthly bill will be and was told they didnt have any way ot determining that since corporate determined that. What BS. $35! This isnt my first go around with this store. Im done.

The staff here are courteous, honest, friendly and knowledgeable offering suggestions as well as always trying to provide us with the best pricing. I recently needed to make some purchases for my business and Kate-the business account mgr - came directly to my location and made sure the equipment we ordered would work with the software we had prior to our purchase. She really helped with the set up process and she was just great to get to know. I think it is great when a business can give you that personal experience and it was nice she understands our needs. The customer service is excellent.

I moved here a year ago from Alaska and you would think the Internet service up there would be behind the times but the services I had in Alaska far exceeded the at of Consolidated Communications. I know that where I live right now is considered rural but I know for a fact that there are more rural areas in this state that have higher speed Internet than I do. If this company wants to keep their client base they need to invest in the communities that they are in which means if you need to upgrade your services in certain areas to increase your clientele, that's an investment I would probably look into because I'll tell you right now the service is pathetic it's not how you run a business it's not how you keep your clients. I'm a person that keeps up with the times and the advancements in technology, which means most of the business I do is online. I stream online, I Bank online, I go to school online and I communicate online. After speaking with their customer service it appears that there's no plan to upgrade or increase the speeds in this area in the future or distant future. On the plus side there is another company installing services in this area. If they offer faster speeds I'm switching in a heartbeat and willing to pay more if need be.

Having moved to rural Vermont, they are the only option and having no internet is starting to look like that might be better than paying for this terrible service. I'm paying more for 25Mbps (though I have never actually seen that level of speed- more like 8-10 Mbps!) than I paid Comcast for 100Mbps in Georgia. It is ridiculous the poor service Consolidated provides to its' customers. If you had to choose between Consolidated "high speed internet" or a carrier pigeon for data transfer, you'd likely be better off investing in bird seed. The State should shut this company down!
