First time actually taking a firearm safety course and James was awesome very knowledgeable and very patient took time to go over from point A to point Z and it was a smaller class so it had a lot of one on one training and women don't be discouraged he works well with the females as well as there were a couple in our class so other this being your first time or just wanna take some refresher courses check out Fidelis and ask for James read more

I am an extremely anxious person and am easily triggered by loud noises. That did not matter here. Mr. James and his class is trauma-informed and it showed through his ongoing patience and kindness. He was funny and made the class fun. He checked in regularly and used real life scenarios to get his point across. As a woman with a fear of loud noises and guns in an increasingly dangerous world, I highly recommend everyone to take his basic pistol class. Whether you have experience with a gun or no experience at all. read more

I had the most wonderful and educational experience with FD (Fidelis Defense). James and Rogelio were very professional and knowledgeable every step of the way. They were funny, kind, patient and very approachable. My children as well as myself never held a fire arm before and with the introduction classes they offered, we learned so much in regards to safety and how to use firearms properly. We loved our experience with FD that we didn't mind the long drive from San Fernando Valley to Chino. We also attended a second class in which they instructed us on how to fire under stress and to control breathing in order to be effective when under stress/pressure. They focused on real life scenarios that made this more relatable and real. I highly recommend anyone with and without experience to take these classes. Especially if you have firearms at home, it is crucial to teach everyone in the household gun safety. Although we took a few classes, we are definitely going back for refreshers. read more

This was a great experience! I highly recommend the Basic Pistol Class for any novice. As someone who had never even touched a firearm, I liked how informative and patient James was. He walks you through everything, step-by-step, making sure you feel comfortable before moving on to the next thing. By the time you actually shoot the gun, you feel like you're ready because he's done a great job preparing you. I wish I wouldn't have second guessed taking the class for so long. read more

For someone that's never handled or shot a gun before, their basic training course was extremely helpful for me. James was great in providing an informative session on gun safety and handling. The class size was small so lucky for me, I got some extra attention. When it came time to shoot the gun, James was always there to ensure I was making good habits. I look forward to taking more classes! read more

I wanted to improve my firearms skill/safety and I immediately realized that I chose the right training company! I attended the Basic Pistol course offered by Fidelis Defense and am really glad that I did. James and Rojelio did an awesome job of making everyone at the class feel comfortable and well informed. These guys are former US Marines and are extremely well versed in both firearms tactics and safety. If you are looking for beginner level firearms training,I highly recommend Fidelis Defense! I would be remiss if I didn't mention that Fidelis Defense also offers other great classes as well. I'm looking forward to taking more classes with Fidelis Defense. Semper Fidelis. read more

I took a pistol shooting class, and James was a great instructor. He was very detailed with instruction, made sure we were prepared before actually shooting bullets, and frequently asked for our feedback to gauge how we felt about each step and the class in general. I definitely feel more prepared with a firearm than before the class but it's clear more practice is needed. His rates are very competitive and worth the cost considering the smaller class size. He was able to provide more individualized instruction despite the group setting. read more

My husband and I took a private lesson with James and it was SO worth it. I had shot a gun once in my life and it was ages ago, so he started from the basics and really helped me feel comfortable with shooting. He had amazing patience and taught us some great tips + gun safety rules and regulations for CA! Rojelio even gave us a lesson on mind over matter and thinking situations and such. 10/10 would reccomend Fidelis Defense! read more

Appreciate the DOJ instructors for teaching me the basic, safety skills of firing weapons. Before taking the lesson, the instructors provided firearm safety guide to ensure each client has the standard knowledge of safety. During class, they are open-minded to answer questions from inexperienced clients, and patient to understand the anxiety clients may experience. After class, clients have opportunity to take the exam and pass for firearm safety certificate. Will return in order to hone personal skills to defend myself and others around me. read more

My first time ever shooting a gun. Was a little nervous but the instructors were patient and took their time. They start off with a safety briefing then have you dry fire. This gets you used to pulling the trigger and more comfortable handling the firearms. Once you understand the concepts of grip and lining up your sights it's time to shoot! You do a few simple drills while they help adjust your shooting. Would definitely recommend 100%! read more
