Place is small with only really 2 beers on tap. The day I stopped in they had Fiddlehead IPA and Overstable Double IPA on tap. Both are good beers. I got a taster of each and checked out the souvenirs they have available. Place is their production line so most people stopping in were getting their growlers filled. There is the bar but not much else. I tried both beers and was pretty much done within 20 minutes. No tables or stools. Staff is super friendly. If your the area (visiting Shelburne museum, it is like right across the street), it is worth a quick stop. read more

When we first arrived the tasting room was packed. Line practically to the door. So we decided to go next door, get a slice (or 5) of pizza and head back. When we got back it was much quieter and we got a seat at the bar. Good variety of beers, from sours to IPAs and stouts. Highly recommend stopping here before heading up to Burlington. read more

One of my favorite Vermont breweries --They offer a stellar flagship IPA and a delightful rotation of special brews. Fiddlehead usually has 3 beers on tap and also just began selling canned versions of their double IPA. The brewery itself is fantastic, offering free samples of what is on tap, a growler fill station, and merchandise. The staff are always extremely friendly, knowledgable and make excellent recommendations and the brewery environment is cozy and inviting. Being a local Vermont business, being green and sustainable is certainly always a priority, Fiddlehead has partnered with a local farm (Otter Creek Heritage Farm just 20 miles off from the brewery) where they take the 'spent' grain (a byproduct of the brewing process) and repurpose it as feed for the pigs. Now, tucked in the corner of the brewery itself, is an Otter Creek Heritage Farm frozen pork section where you can purchase meats raised in this sustainable system. Additionally, Folino's flatbread pizza is just through a door and welcomes folks to bring their growlers from Fiddlehead in for their dining experience (and also offer chilled glasses for just that!) Definitely worth checking the brewery out - and a definite stop if you're doing the Vermont Brewery Tour Passport! read more

I'm from Texas and came to visit Fiddlehead... it was awesome! I loved everything about it. The beers were delicious and fresh. Definitely the best beer I have ever tried in my life. The customer service gets an A+ ! Any possible question you could have about the brewery and beer in general was answered politely and with enthusiasm. The employees were happy and really seem to love what they are doing! I love that you can really experience the process beer goes through just by stepping through the door. They have a good amount of merchandise available priced very well and the quality is great! After tasting the delicious beers they have to offer, you'll definitely want to get a growler and go eat some pizza from next door! I am a pizza lover and their pizza was delicious! I'm from Virginia and live on a street called Fiddlehead so I was intrigued...and ended up definitely NOT being disappointed. Excellent ales and IPA. This brewery gets two stars because they would not allow us to use a high chair at the tables. They are not accomodating if you have young children. They are connected to a pizza place next door that provides high chairs and their employees told us we could tale a high chair into the brewery. However, after we put our child in the high chair, a fiddlehead emoyee came over and told us that they do not allow high chairs. This has actually happened twice now. This doesnt make any sense to me because they allow children in the establishment. Maybe there is a high chair shortage in their attached pizza restaurant and they cant spare them? Maybe they dont like children? Next time maybe ill bring my own travel high chair and see if that is also against the rules. Fiddlehead Brewing and Folino's Pizza live under the same roof in a barn like structure in Selburne, VT. The beauty about both is that even though they are separate businesses, they work well together. You can take a growler from Fiddlehead and bring it to Folino's where they will provide you with a frozen (not the right way to drink a beer) pint glass. First let us talk about Fiddlehead Brewing. When we were there they had a Kolsch and an IPA for tasting and buying. We tried both and bought a small growler (32 oz) of the Kolsch to bring with us next door for pizza. The guy pouring the beer was their creative guy. It is a small brewery so everyone chips in and helps out where they can. Good beer. Cool stop. Good t-shirts and hats. Sue kept the growler. I like Fiddlehead and I'm glad they primarily sell cans out of the store. I hate having to try to track down beer at stores that play games with when they release the beer. Mastermind is good but for that price it should come in pints, although since they donate a portion of the profits it seems small to complain. Since I'm recognizing it is small to complain about the price of mastermind I'm hoping it is not small to complain about the price of mastermind. Since they do primarily sell cans out of the store, I'd like to see this process be a lot more efficient. It seems every time I'm in there some small group of people monopolize the service counter/bar with tasting and chatting and eventually ordering. It seems every time this happens, the one bartender/clerk ignores everyone else. There should be a station or section of the bar/counter one can approach when one is ready to order. There is no reason the help can't shoot the shit with customers while they quickly sell cans or shirts or those stupid rubber pill boxes to people who would like to get in and out relatively quickly. I don't want to have to wait for four people to figure out what they want then take painfully long to get rung out one at a time before I'm even acknowledged. In other words, learn to multitask just a little. read more

Okay beer. Terrible service. Manager working yesterday was very rude. This is not the first time there has been an issue with Fiddlehead workers. No wonder my neighbors will not go there. Yesterday the lady was all bent out if shape because of their very unclear social distancing protocol. If you feel the need to yell at all your customers, maybe its your fault for lack of any clear signage. Fellow patrons were commenting on this lady's complete lack of social skills. We both would have left after the first 15 minute of waiting but we had already paid. (Also if you make people wait 15 minutes on preordered cans of beer, there is a problem with your operation. Especially when it is not busy). Next time I will go to store and buy heady topper or another fine local Vermont brew. It is much better beer anyway. I thought I would support local business yesterday but they do not want to be bothered with my business. read more

Well Vermont has a new brewery and if the grand opening was a sign of what is to come it is going to be great. A few weeks ago I noticed a new building right on Rt 7 that had a small sign over the door that said pizza & beer. I assumed it was some sort of new restaurant that was going to open soon and was keeping my eye on it. Then one afternoon I'm driving by and there is a hand written sign saying we're open. So of course I needed to find out what this new place is all about. Turns out it is was the grand opening for a brewery! The restaurant that will serve pizza won't be open until the spring. They had 2 beers available. The first was very balanced IPA with a smooth hop flavor. The second was a very malty amber ale which I loved. So I took home a growler of it. The staff were super friendly and the place was really nice. The brew room was pretty large so it looks lie they are going to be making a lot of beer. The tasting room was a good size and it looked like they had 4 taps setup so hopefully in the future they will have more beers to try. read more

Visited on the way back from a trip to Stowe for a tasting. Tasting was free, 2 beers were on tap, we really enjoyed one but not the other (the name escapes me) but can't really complain with free samples. Tasting room is standing room only with no areas away from the direct bar area. read more

After visiting three other breweries in the area we were almost beered out (is that even possible?). We were happy to make one final stop at Fiddlehead Brewing, which is a very small operation right next to a pizzeria, which we did not visit. They only had three beer options on tap, all of which were good. I do wish there were more options or a better atmosphere. Since we were not eating next door we were hoping for at least a place to sit and enjoy a pint. Unfortunately, the lights were uncomfortably bright, the ladies at the bar were rather aloof, and we felt like we had no option but to grab some samples and go. I haver to criticize too much, though, as the beer (two IPAs including the Fiddlehead IPA and the Rarified Air - one of the best, lightest and smoothest summer beers I have ever had) and a Kolsch were memorable. Too bad there weren't more options. read more

I hesitate to go full-blown-five-stars on this place, because it lacks something. While it's great that you can try all three of whatever beers they happen to have tapped, it rather sucks that you can't sit down and have a pint. You belly up to the counter, have your samples, order growlers or 1/2 growlers, and get the hell out. I understand why; it's not a big place, and having to wait your turn isn't fun. True, there's a restaurant next door. The pizza at Folino's is some of the best I've *ever* eaten (try the scallops with bacon and lemon zest). That you can bring your Fiddlehead into Folino's and enjoy a few slices with a pint is pretty wonderful. Still, it would be nice if Fiddlehead had a dedicated seating area/beer garden that didn't make you feel bad for not ordering a pizza if that's not what sounds good for dinner. Fiddlehead takes risks with their recipes: I've sampled a Hefeweizen, a peach, and a chocolate/coconut porter. You're not going to LOVE everything here. But when they get it right...oh, boy. And anyway, it's fun to sample new beers. The Second Fiddle double IPA is one of my favorites from anywhere. It must be a nice place to work, because every time I go in, the person slinging beer is in a good mood. Makes for a pleasant sampling experience. There's a $3 bottle deposit on the growlers/growlettes. read more

I have to say, all three beers I tried were fantastic. They know how to handle variety without letting quality drop, I cannot recommend this place enough. Fiddlehead has been one of my go-to breweries since I moved back to Vermont five years ago. Their flagship IPA has noticeably evolved and improved over the years. It's often the best beer on tap at local bars, and for me it's totally a standby. We went in last night for the one-two Fiddlehead-Folino's punch (you can bring growlers of beer to the adjoining wood-fired pizza spot) and I was surprised to see Mastermind on tap.* $12 for a growler of this bad boy is one of the single best beer deals in the State... get it while you can. Typically there are only 2 beers available, and they don't pour pints, so it's not really a place to meet and linger past an abbreviated tasting. But the beer is as good it gets, the service is always friendly, the pizza next door is tasty, and the merch is actually really cool and makes for great gifts. *At this point it seems like most people are in the know about Fiddlehead's occasional 2xIPAs, Second Fiddle and Mastermind, which are both world class and stand up as equals to Heady Topper. Typically both are only available in cans and lines form before the brewery opens often resulting in same-day sellouts. read more

Wow, this beer is amazing. The brewery is small and intimate and they pour free samples of whatever they currently have in stock. The folks behind the counter are super pumped and friendly. But I guess I would be too if I worked in one of the best breweries in the world. Fiddlehead isn't very well known -- yet. Watch out. Their beers are already hard to get. And of course, there is a pizza place in the same building serving wood fired pizzas with local ingredients where possible. The pizza is fantastic, and they let you open your Fiddlehead growler that you bought across the hall! read more

I want to start off by saying I REALLY like the beers here. I've had the IPA, and Tejas Marron and both are delicious beers that deserve a much higher rating. But here is why I give it three stars. 1) My first experience was the can release, waiting in line. Actually not a bad experience, quickly moved through customers. Free Coozie, missed getting second fiddle by 15 minutes but thats my fault not theirs. But when I got to the front of the line the guy asked me "What is the capital of New Mexico". I paused, knowing I knew the answer and couldn't recall it. He quickly snapped "doesn't matter anymore, but your holding up the line". I've never been so thrown off in my life. Ask me a question and get mad at me for trying to answer...also my money was out and ready. Ugh. It really irked me. 2) I'd probably give it a higher rating if we didn't go right after the release. They were all kicked of everything but there IPA. So they have a tasting room, and we could only taste the beer I've already had. In tiny little shot glass cups. Not super impressed with that experience. The girl was incredibly sweet though, and apologetic for not having more. I assume I'll go back eventually and re-review if they have more beers that I can try. I mean the sampling is free which is nice, but I'd honestly rather pay 5 dollars and get real samples then little tastes. read more

If I could drink only one beer, the Fiddlehead IPA might be the one. It doesn't really stand out as super hoppy, or bitter, or malty, but the overall balance all of those features puts it right at the top of my list. Perhaps a tiny bit less sweet than the current American IPA standard, but that's a good thing, IMO. The facility is bare bones: You can sample their beer (s) of the week, while they fill your 32 and 64 oz growlers for the trip home. Grab a couple of their 16oz can shaped glasses too; a pair of them and and a 32ozer make a perfect gift for your beer drinking friend who couldn't come along. They pour generous tastes and their growlers are inexpensive for such quality, delicious beer. Short, sweet, and to the point. There's really not a whole lot to do/see inside the brewery, and hey, that's not always a bad thing. I think someone once said there's beauty in simplicity -- or I could just be making that up. What you will find when you walk in is a countertop, merch, and two taps manned by a friendly barkeep, quickly serving up tasters, 32-oz growlers (AKA "growlettes") and I believe 64 oz growlers as well. You'll also get a peek into the brewspace through some glass windows located right behind the bar. When Ashley E. and I stopped in, we sampled the standard IPA and the hoppy brown ale, Devil's Right Hand, which was aggressively hopped with Citra hops. Delicious, just delicious. Another tap or two would really do wonders here though -- it's tough to go out of the way just for two taps at any given time. If you're up in Burlington on a beer adventure, stop in, especially if they've got something relatively new on tap. The brewery experience is okay, but when they've got something new, it's usually delicious! read more

They will also exchange your returned growler for a fresh one - a nice service. The beer is solid. They always have their flagship IPA with rotating taps pouring other fun brews. They hire a mobile canning company to come do limited release cans of some excellent beers. Mastermind and Second Fiddle were among my favorite beer experiences of the year. read more
