My favorite pizza spot in all the Bellingham area. I don't think you can go wrong with the pizza, but we really enjoy the sweet and savory pizza and the potato Gorgonzola and fennel sausage pizza. My kids really dig their pasta, too. On a slightly sad note, they used to serve the most incredible chicken wings, but unfortunately they took them off the menu. La Fiamma Pizza is one of the best pizza places I have been to in a long time! First off, just to start they have very good food. They have the normal things like pepperoni, normal cheese and stuff like that, but they also have things for all people, they have vegan options for people, I have never seen a pizza place accommodate for people who are not just vegetarian, but also vegan. Most pizza places have a "vegetarian" option that just has no meat, but La Fiamma also has very good options for people who do not eat anything from animals. Anyway, back to the taste and look rating. Their pizzas taste, look, and overall are gourmet and delicious! I think it is easily one of the best Pizza's I have ever had. They have so many options to choose from. They do not over, or undercook anything, and it is perfectly kissed by the flame. Their toppings are also very appetizing, which you do not get from most of the other places, even though it is not a big thing. Though their service is top notch, (I will get to that later) I do feel like they make you wait a little to long. I have been there many times, and I have had a twenty minute wait or more each time. In my opinion, I think anything longer than fifteen minutes is pretty long. I can understand that they were busy, but sometimes I go there with the same amount of wait and there is not that many people. So this is the only thing that is stopping La Fiamma from getting a five star review. So overall, I think La Fiamma is a very good spot, and I definitely recommend if you want amazing pizza. read more

I came here for dinner on a Sunday night and it was pretty busy. Pizzas come in two sizes (mediums are $20-22; larger are $33-35, pretty dark expensive). The wood fired descriptor got me in the door, but it really didn't deliver. The dough was thick and pretty standard, with nothing all that special about it. Pizza is really good but every visit is a struggle with service and online ordering. Got to my pick up today and was told it would be a little longer so I waited the extra time they said. They brought me my pizza and I asked where the garlic knots were and they forgot about those so I was outside waiting another 10 mins for those. Pizza got cold by that point. The garlic knots ended up being a disappointment. They were not knots but rather thick balls of pizza dough slapped with cheese on them. By the time I made it home the pizza had to be microwaved. We stopped in on a whim for lunch before walking the trails at Whatcom Falls Park because we saw a sign. Parking was actually pretty easy to find close to the restaurant. We only had to wait for 10 minutes during lunch rush as well which was way shorter than we thought. Our server was amazing and so friendly and helpful even with it being busy. We started out with garlic knots and they were fabulous as were our pizzas and desert. It all came out fast too which was shocking since some places take quite a while to bake pizzas. I think this has become our favorite place to eat in Washington and definitely the best pizza we've had since living here. We can't find any half this good on Whidbey that's for sure. No toilet paper in ladies room and nobody cares! Although the food was good and the service attentive, I experienced something that should NEVER happen in a restaurant. No toilet paper in a ladies room stall. I went out to tell the person at reception and was told they would take care of it. Only two stalls and the other in use for a long time. Waited in ladies room ... no one came. Rummaged through supply cabinet in the ladies room and found a remnant of paper, enough for my use. On leaving the restaurant, I saw several employees in the back, but nobody fetching toilet paper. Nobody cares. This is a restaurant NEVER event, so I feel I should warn women. read more

Terrible place!! Ordered take out, because they said their third party delivery people are a bit screwed up. We went to pick up, paid and then saw the cute heated outdoor area and decided to stay. When I returned to ask if we could eat outside, they said they don't allow take out to stay? HUH? So I just paid the same price for order in and they won't seat us, they had no one even there. Empty. Its 5:35 pm, sunday eve and no one is there. They said that is their busy time and they need seats for those patrons...We were going to order wine and pop probably another $50 added to the $50 we paid for 2 mediocre pizzas and they don't want our money?? I always go for the honey and burrata pizza and I'm always very happy with it. My husband gets some sort of meat pizza and it always comes hot, with generous toppings. He shared with me a wonderful story about his coming to clarity about people being the grand concern. I loved my experience there in all ways--and this was (he and his story), actually, the best part of a lot of goodness. All that said, I had the truffle mushroom pizza. What's not to love about that? We came here on Father's Day as a group of 4 adults and a kid. It's nice and child friendly. They provide them with some dough to play with which is a nice touch. It's a cute place in a nice location within walking distance of many other businesses downtown. We ordered the artichoke dip and garlic knots to start. Both were delicious. For entrees we ordered two pizzas but most notably was the pulled pork. It's not quite as good as my favorite Flatbread Pizza in Maui but a close second. I will be coming back just for that. La Fiamma is situated smack dab in the middle of charming downtown, Bellingham. They specialize in wood fired pizzas in a casual and family friendly environment. The dough is handmade and topped with high quality ingredients. The pizzas aren't greasy and they have some pretty unique flavors. There's the Potato Gorgonzola with Fennel Sausage or the Fiona, which is topped with lamb sausage and olives. Of course, there's also the typical toppings of pepperoni or meatballs too. They have a great lunch special of an 8″ pizza with a small salad for $8.75. The money saved went towards a couple (maybe it was 4, who keeps count?) refreshing beers for my husband and I. Maybe the best pizza I have consumed since I was in Italy several years ago. We stopped in on a recent weekday late afternoon and were warmly greeted by the lovely aroma of garlic, and tomato sauce and the hostess. Ordered the Grecian Formula and Brooklyn Bridge pizzas to split. Both were generously sized and enough for two hungry humans. As a non-red meat eater, I chose chicken sausage to replace the usual grilled flank steak on the Grecian pie. Great recommendation by our server! The crust was chewy and flavorful but not burnt like so many wood fired pizzas I have had at other restaurants. It had the structure to support the delicious toppings without sagging or dripping. Best decision for the day! The garlic knots are unbelievable! Then to add to the tastebud excitement my Loves had the meat lover. I love good Italian food and this place is pretty good. All their offerings are more than adequate (we numbered six and there was plenty to go around). The Meatball Pot antipasto is terrific, and one or two of their pizzas are also very good--loved the Fiona and the Meat Lovers pizza. Other selections are a bit heavy for my taste: Black Truffle didn't really taste of truffle, while the Potato Gorgonzola and Fennel Sausage really missed the mark diluting the flavors with way too much balsamic vinegar. We really loved our drinks--a Paper Plane, a Pear-Elderflower Collins and a Winter in Cuba. Our server Jack really was helpful making suggestions. We were just looking for a place that had pasta and I was craving some pizza. We found La Fiamma and decided to give it a try. There were three of us and we decided to share what we got. We ordered garlic knots, mac & cheese and a pulled pork pizza. I also ordered a beer to go along with my meal. The garlic knots showed up first and they were hot, soft and covered with cheese. After our first bite we had instantly decided we would come back, just for these. However, once the mac & cheeses and pizza showed up we were convinced to come back here as much as we could. The mac and cheese had just the right amount of flavor and the pizza was absolutely fantastic! I wanted to keep eating more but know I would have a huge stomach ache if I scarfed down any more food. I finally made it to Fiamma! I've been hearing about it for months and passed by a hundred times without stopping. Good pizza. Nice establishment. Good service. Indoor and outdoor seating options. It's definitely good pizza, but I can't say that there's anything extraordinary about it. $16.50 for a medium pizza with tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, and cheese. Not a bad rate in this town. The menu is big without being too big. I appreciate the fact that they carry local cider. I won't go out of my way to come here. It's been a couple of years since my last visit to La Fiamma, but I ended up back there for dinner last night and I must say: they are cranking out some delicious foodie goodness! On previous visits I'd only had the pizza, so I decided to swing out and ordered their meat lasagna instead. OH. MY. GAWWWWWD! Yep, that about sums it up. And without going into the monotonous details of what a huge lasagna fan I am, and how the meat-to-cheese-to-sauce-to-noodle ratio has to be JUST RIGHT...let's just say whoever's cooking it up at L-Fi should get some kind of award 'cuz he/she has NAILED IT. The portion was also quite large, so I will be enjoying one of life's biggest pleasures for lunch today: leftover-amazing-lasagna. Oh, and it came with two slices of slathered-in-buttery-goodness garlic toast which were also quite delicious. The tapenade appy was no slouch either. But really...that lasagna! Others in our party ordered pizza, pasta, salads, and appy's and I heard no complaints. One friend got the smoked salmon pasta and said it was amazing. There were also plenty of options for the gluten free folks in our group, and a full bar. The menu is quite extensive (some might say Biblical in length), which to me felt overwhelming and yet made me look forward to returning and trying something new. I would be remiss not to mention the seriously awesome service our large party also experienced last night. This place is pretty awesome because they open late. I came in at 9:30 and still got served. I noticed people coming in at 10 and they still took their order. Now wondering what time are they really close. The decor is unique. It reminded me of a diner place at one end and pizza brick wall place at the other end. They have seats outside which is great for nice sunny days. I love this place. Definitely coming back. Too bad I have to travel far for their pizza. But really worth the trip read more

Excellent reward after a hike on the Interurban Trail. We had not been to La Fiamma in a while and really wanted some pizza. Back in the day, we used to get half Bella (grilled veggies with goat cheese and sesame seeds) and half Fiona (lamb sausage, red peppers, feta, kalamatas). We were disappointed to learn that they had taken the Bella off the menu. The waitress was nice enough to go dig out an older recipe book to see if she could make it happen, but they no longer have yellow squash or zucchini. Bummer. So we "settled" for a medium Fiona. It tasted great, as we remembered, but I must say that we were disappointed in the "craftsmanship" of the pizza. These pizzas used to be works of art - perfect distribution of beautiful ingredients. This one was just a bit messy, and the uneven distribution means someone (me!) ended up with a mostly naked piece of pizza. Service was great. My husband was in need of a meaty pizza while in Bellingham. La Fiamma fit the bill both with Yelp reviews and local recs. Note up front -- this is a very popular spot on the weekend. Get there past 6 pm u may be waiting 45 minutes. Worth it? Well we only had a 20 minute wait and beat the crowd. But yes - great ambience, family friendly, diverse menu, prompt, friendly service, and of course - excellent pizza! My daughter loved her Alfredo pasta, our shared salad with the house ranch was super fresh and tasty and the wood-fired meaty pizza a hit and not too heavy. They have a wide variety of specialty pizzas (in my opinion though seafood does NOT belong on pizza) and classics like the Brooklyn we got. Oh and the homemade lemonade is worth the free refills. I was having to fast the next day so I went for broke and also ordered the specialty dessert. Who doesn't like be a good molten chocolate cake topped with cherry chocolate ice cream, whipped cream and sprinkles? Warning: this was big enough for 4 people.
