    When I told the FHDailey service department they could blow me, this isn't what I had in mind.

    Horrid, greedy sales department, amoral F&I person, and a service department that could care less about you. Worst. Dealership. Ever. It's like owning a Fiat. In Russia. In the 1950s.

    I will never Ever step a pinky toe inside of FH Dailey service department in San Leandro, California..I purchased a vehicle from them with 5 miles on it in 2015. Bought warranties, oil changes, parts etc. you name it ...Now my car has 115516 miles on it. So I went in today 04/30/25 for yet another oil change. Anyway Justin the young man that always helped me took pics of my car & got me all signed in for my appointment. Well you know they give you a courtesy carwash, well not today GABE the AssHole service manager told one of the young men that take the cars back to the garage for services NOT TO WASH my car because my bumper was FALLING OFF...Can you believe this LIAR represents this company that I have spent 1000s of dollars with? I cannot stand a Liar...Now mind you my bumper is not falling off & for him to say that made my head spin. So I told him if you are going to lie about my bumper to avoid giving me a $5 carwash, then I can't Trust you to change my oil or anything else as for as service on my vehicle. I was livid...Do not go the service Department because if a person tells you a lie like that just imagine how he has probably cut corners in other ways. So I left vowing never ever to return, even though I have saved up quite a bit of coins because I was thinking about purchasing another vehicle, plus I was going to take my son out there to purchase a brand new vehicle, not now!

    All around bad experience. Poor communication and arrogant manager are just a few highlights. I'd never buy a vehicle from them.

    Any exp with the fleet dept? Apparently a car my husband ordered has been sitting at the dealership for weeks. He's called multiple times, with not 1 returned call. I get some people are SIP, but that didn't stop them from sending monthly bill.

    Has anyone had a bad experience with these guys? Would appreciate some additional info.

In the end he helped with my two car logistics so I could get my new car were it needed to be. The thing that stood out the most about Cal West was their cars. My car was exceptional, low mileage, one owner, dealer serviced its entire life. As I looked at their inventory I saw the care they took in selecting their inventory. I did not see any cars on the lot that would be an automatic not buy. Quite the opposite everything I saw had strong consumer ratings no matter how old. Your mileage may vary but as someone in the business I would rate this independent used car business as way better than average. The fact that they have been in business for 45 years certainly says something about their ethics and business practices.

Within the week I had to take the car in to the shop for rattling when the AC was on. Turns out something was installed backwards. Within the second week the Apple Car Play started failing. I took it to the dealership, one of the gentleman came out and did a quick troubleshooting (deleted devices and added back). Fast forward to March 2026, Car play has FAILED. I take the vehicle for an oil change and find that the engine is failing, including an engine oil leak, coolant system failing. While trying to establish the validity of the warranty and find a good shop for the repairs the car has shut off in traffic twice, continues to run hot and the breaks are going out already. I have spent $600 on a rental car. I have reached out to San Leandro several times and spoke with Boris. The last of which he offered a discount on the rental which still totaled $600 for how long I will need the rental. I asked explicitly to speak with a Regional Manager about surrendering the vehicle and submitted an online complaint more than three weeks ago and no one is responding. I have also filed a complaint with BBB. And by the list of other complaints I'm not the first person sold a vehicle that they claim has been through a rigorous "certification" and inspection and the ENGINE is failing months later.

Over the past few months, my son and I searched for affordable used cars, test-drove cars, shopped around for a good trade-in price for the minivan, and even posted the minivan on Marketplace. Yesterday, as I drove off the High Street bridge and returned home to Alameda, instead of turning left, I drove straight to Diamond Auto's lot. I recognized my son's dream car by the enormous spoiler on the back. I took it for a test drive. I sat with Alex to discuss the price. Today, my son and I test drove the car. We sat with Alex to discuss the price and the warranty (3-months, which isn't much, but it's 3-months longer than any other warranty we were offered). We came to an agreement. I gave Alex the keys to my beloved minivan (which is now for sale, by the way), a lump sum on my credit card, and drove away in a sporty sedan. It wasn't just that we found the right car at the right price today. We found the right salesperson. Alex is supporting the local community as well as his own family. He negotiates directly and clearly. He speaks respectfully to middle-aged women and teenage kids. No gimmicks. No pressure. No confusing equations. Tell him what you need, and he'll tell you what he needs. If it works, it works. If it doesn't, no pressure. I enjoyed doing business with him.

Alex only buys good samples on his lot, my Infiniti Fx50 is already hard to find in the US, but pricing was more than fair, especially considering the clean sample this car was (maintained at the Infiniti dealer all it's life). I simply adore the car, feels like a 350z on matchbox wheels. Closest thing to a street legal dakkar rally truck! Here are a few photos. Best used car dealer I had to deal with, very positive experience, they even washed the car a second time even though it was already clean, while doing the paperwork. Highly recommended!
