I just wanted to update that my 20 year old daughter had a cut with Natasha about a month ago. She has the complete and total opposite type of hair than mine - hers is straight, thin and short where mine is curly, thick and long. The result? She looked fabulous and couldn't stop ranting and raving about how great Natasha is. She got a cute little short shaggy cut and advice on what types of product to use (not a salon sales pitch on specific name brands but generic types of products) and advice on different ways to style it. One month later and the cut is growing out well and she still looks fabulous....of course I'm biased. read more

I was going to be around the area and I had 2 hours to kill so I decided to get a much needed haircut at Fez. Oh my!!! I have no regrets of doing this. Lissette took me in and made me feel very comfortable. I just told her what I wanted and she gave me some new suggestions ...in the end, she made it happen. By the way, the hair wash and massages she gave to my head made me feel in heaven so as I now call it a "cerebral massage". I'm in love with my new hair style and I'm definitely coming back to Fez and to Lissette even though I live about 55 miles away from Brooklyn but it's worth the trip. Thanks Lissette!! read more

I just got a cut with Roxie, for the first time at this salon. She was super sweet, really listened to what I wanted, and most importantly, my cut came out great :D read more

Heather is fabulous with short, straight hair. She listens and recommends. She's careful and skillful. I get compliments on every haircut. I can't recommend her enough. read more

Yet again I'm giving 5 starts because this place is truly FABULOUS! I love love love this spot. As soon as you open the door the stylish air fills all your body. It's so cute and cozy in there and the people are so friendly that I wouldn't mind spending all day there :o) First of all, they don't just wash your hair prior to cutting, they give you a whole new experience - the amazing head massage lasted like 15 minutes and I didn't want it to stop. Then, half sleeping, I fell into Rudy's chair and he worked wonders. He is so creative and he really enjoys what he's doing. After his magic touch my hair was stylish and cool and I just loved what he did with it! I was at this place several times and I was always satisfied, planning to go again soon. Price is around $50-60 (without tip) for a woman's haircut, which (I think) is great considering the final high quality great looking product. As for appointment flexibility, I can't complain because on my first visit I needed a haircut that day and they managed to squeeze me in, although they're quite busy :o) How did I find out about it? Two people I knew had such a cool hair style I had to ask where they got it - and they said "Fez" ... cool, I stopped by and fell in love ;o) Note: I have dark, almost straight hair (a little wavy when humid :) shoulder length at the moment and I always get a hair cut by Rudy (usually a brand new style). read more

I would have been better off to just cut my hair myself, I'm hugely disappointed with my cut. Its bye bye to this salon for me. read more

I love this salon! Rudy always gives me a great haircut and I am never disappointed. Especially since I am never 100% clear on the haircut I want but after listening to me, Rudy always knows exactly the type of cut I want. They always take me at my appointment time. read more

WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! Please don't tell me that this is the best Brooklyn has to offer! Rudy is wonderful and gives a great haircut, but watch out for Laura's highlights... Ever heard of "slicing"? Yeah, don't try it. Yikes. read more

I have enjoyed going to this place over the last 6-8 months, but I just called and my favorite stylist has quit! No more Roxie!!! Rudy was also pretty good, but I didn't feel like he took as much care when listening to what I wanted done. I have always liked my haircuts from here...but without Roxie, I might give another place a try. read more

I've never written a review on Yelp before, but this haircut is so bad that I feel compelled to write one. My old hairdresser quit to go to law school last year and I have been looking for someone new ever since then. I read lots of reviews and people said that Rudy at Fez was good so I decided to give him a try. I won't go into details about the specific cut I wanted, but I described it to him in great detail and we had a really long consultation and I felt confident that he understood me and that it would be just what I wanted (and what I've been growing my hair out to do). Well, he butchered it. It is the absolute worst haircut I've ever gotten. Not only is the haircut bad, but he cut it all off so short that it can't really be fixed until it grows out in 5 or 6 months. It is so bad that they didn't charge me. I cried when I left and got horrified looks from the two friends that have seen it. read more

I haven't been back since Reina's moved on to Dhaga Salon, but my roommate continues to go there and enjoys his haircuts there.

Rudy is the king of hair ninjas. I'm told stylists are like, lifetime contracts. I got my hair cut before my wedding, & mostly I will just clipper this old mop myself, but I went to Fez for a nice cut & I'll keep going when I need more. I had no idea of washing/cutting etiquette, but I didn't feel like an idiot, which is a big perk. Also: my barbershop small talk was about the Babylonian Captivity. Can't go wrong, my friends. read more

The BEST Color 'n' Cut in a looooong time...Jodi is a Star !!! I have been to various salons trying to find the best Stylist for myself. Recently a close friend recommended Fez Salon, and to specifically ask for Jodi. Being in entertainment, I tend to be a little fussy so wasn't sure what to expect. From the second I walked in I was greeted with smiles, a welcome change. I loved the feel of this place, intimate, warm and trendy (artwork from the owner, Rudy, is a nice touch) Jodi has all the positive energy and passion you could ever ask for. I needed a change but didn't know what. Jodi talked me thru styles and looks that would suit me and made me feel comfortable and not rushed...so much so that I left it in her own hands. I got some color and a stylish cut that made me feel like a million dollars. I've been there a handful of times now and it's always been a great experience. Jodi has now become my go to Stylist...I won't go anywhere else !!! Highly, Highly recommend ! read more

Reina is a goddess. She makes my hair oh so pretty and cool looking. I've been to Fez twice, and both times I felt completely comfortable with the fact that someone was taking scissors to my hair. This is saying a lot as I have had a number of bad experiences (If I do not ask for bangs, don't give me bangs). There's something about her that makes you feel like she could do no wrong. read more

Got a great haircut from Reina. Reasonably priced too. $60 for a women's cut. Would definitely go back.

I got a cut with Roxy. She was amazing and was even able to style my very short limited style hair. I give it 4 out of 5 stars only because I think the price is just a little over the top. read more

Had a great experience here - wonderful attention from both my colorist Lauren and my stylist Manny. Manny cut my hair wet before I got my color, and then again after the color was done - such attention to detail! read more

Reina is still fab. Love her conversations. She cut my hair (which was looking nast to say the least) and it looks wonderful. I've got the bounce back in my curls! She made me realize that I should never be tempted again to let a 2-bit haircutter go at my curls ever. read more

Everyone in this salon is present, helpful and SO nice. I obviously love Rudy and he is the first (and only) person that makes my curly confidence BOOST! I haven't found anyone as spot on as him. He will take the look you have in your head, always gives you some helpful tips and/or criticism when appropriate, and then the look comes to life even better than you expect. He's the kindest person I know and I can't imagine going to any one else with my curls! (I make sure I get a shape up every time I come back from California). Love you, Rudy!! read more

I had my hair cut with Ismael several months ago. He did a nice job and it has grown out very well. We looked at some pictures first and he gave honest recs for a new style for me based on the pictures I had brought in. I have very straight hair in a longish bob. Anthony colored my hair and I thought the color came out gorgeous. I am extremely picky about color and have gone to the same colorist in Manhattan for 7 years. He did a rich auburn on my light brown hair which has a few greys and it came out very rich. Auburn is a pretty tough color to do right and I was pleased. I may still try a few more Brooklyn stylists before settling down with someone but I was impressed and would definitely go back. read more

Moving here from Boston I was wary of leaving my favorite salon and stylist behind. After one bad cut elsewhere and a bunch of inexpensive cuts at my Mom's salon in CT, I finally decided to give this place a try. I have fine hair, which I keep short and a little funky. Everyone with short hair knows, you can't afford to mess it up. A pony tail is not an option. Per the recommendation of a friend I have Rudy a try and he did a fantastic job! He took his time to make sure everything was cut evenly and textured perfectly. I'm about a week into my second cut and am still pretty satisfied. It's a little shorter than I wanted, but since most stylists tend to not cut enough, I'm certainly not going to complain. My last cut there was $50 (without tip), which is a great price for the quality. read more

I recently moved to Brooklyn and have been looking for a new hair stylist. I was hesitant to rush into anything, but the situation was getting serious as my hair was growing out too much and unlike the Beatles I cannot pull off the mop-top look. Finally I decided to give Fez Salon a try. I was hoping to book an appointment with either Reina or Roxie (both of whom have been mentioned in rave reviews on this site) but was slightly disappointed to find out that the only appointment I could make was with a stylist named Emanuel. I decided to give him a try and I am so happy I did! First off, he was graciously forgiving of the fact that I was late to the salon. After I had my hair washed, he took me through a quick consultation and started to cut. I didn't have any strong thoughts about what I wanted, so I sort of let him take over. I felt comfortable and at ease with the job he was doing at every stage of the cut. (You know that point midway through a haircut when things don't look so good and you feel like jumping out of the chair for fear that it will only get worse? I'm sure that never happens in Emanuel's chair.) Emanuel is friendly but not overly chatty (thankfully) and clearly very skilled. He ended up giving me the best haircut of my life--and in record time! My next haircut will definitely be at Fez, and I will make sure it is with Emanuel. read more

I started going to Rudy a couple years ago based on a recommendation from a coworker. Rudy is the best. I always walk out of there with an amazing haircut! read more

I heard of Fez on Yelp and gave Reina a try. Yelpers were right -- she's great! The experience is so chill.. It's always easy to book an appointment, they bring you water while you are waiting, and the small talk isn't awkward when she's cutting your hair. The test of a good haircut is whether it still looks good when it's growing out, and my Fez cuts always pass the test. read more

Fez is a great salon. I have been getting my hair cut by Rudy for years and I always love the cut. He isn't afraid to suggest new ideas and always knows what to do for your face type/body type. Ive been to many hip and overpriced salons and in the end I highly recommend Fez. It's the best haircut by far regardless of price or location. read more

I have very thick, very curly hair and it's always impossible to find anyone who knows how to deal with it. Heather at Fez Salon has given me great cuts the last couple times I've gone. She cuts dry, knows not to overhandle the curls, and takes her time. My last cut was $50, which I think is totally reasonable. read more

This is a very unassuming, no-drama little place. No glitz, music or attitude. Thank god. My husband and I have both been going to Reina at Fez for almost 3 years now and she is AMAZING (my cuts are $60, his are $45 I think). I pretty much just let her do what she thinks is best, although she is very careful to explain it to me beforehand and ask me for all the input I have. I have very fine, brown hair and Reina layers it beautifully and always makes me look cooler than I am. She is the only stylist who has ever given me bangs, which I never thought I could pull off. She is also a really smart, interesting person and fun to talk to. She only works Thursday and Friday now, which is terribly inconvenient for me, but I make it work with my schedule because when you find a place this easygoing and a stylist you trust this much, you never. let. go. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE & LOVE Rudy!! I have been flying back to SF to get my hair cut for 3 years and finally said enough was enough! In my desperate search for my next "Angela" (the lady who has been cutting my hair for about 4 or 5 years in sf), I found Rudy! I have the thickest & curliest hair (truly high maintenance!!) and have had my share of bad/ not so impressive cuts ..... Rudy really listens to what you want and need.... Go to Rudy!! read more

Rudy is the best. The salon was highly recommended to me by a dear friend, and since my first visit a few year ago, I have kept returning. Rudy listens, has fabulous ideas, and will give you a hair cut with the perfect style for your features that works with your life. This past week I had the good fortune of getting highlights from Joni to complete my new fabulous look. They are brilliant. Joni is also a talented makeup artist and will give you the perfect look for your next event. In addtion to the talented staff (everyone that works there is awesome), the salon itself is charming and often features some of Rudy's art, which in and of itself is worth exploring. read more

Rudy is a genius and the rest of his staff is good. Convinced me to let my hair color go natural (grey!) and when I let him give me the cut he suggested (short!), I consistently get compliments on both the color and the cut. Prices are great. read more

Rudy and the entire staff of Fez Salon are amazing. Rudy has been cutting my hair for 7 years now, ever since I discovered this gem. He always asks, "So, what are we doing today?" and I answer him by asking him what he thinks. I trust him because he knows which cut will be chic and flattering on me. Jodi has colored my hair several times and I can't recommend her highly enough. I just love this place--good people, good vibes and great service! read more

just got my hair cut here. Really fantastic, worth every penny (not that it was very expensive at all).

I've been going to this salon for years. Rudy is able to give me amazing haircuts. He knows what to do with my extremely dry, curly hair. He has a really good eye for what would suit me and comes up with great suggestions if I want to try something new. When I discovered this place, I felt that I had finally found someone who knows how to cut my hair. I wholeheartedly recommend Fez. read more

Since moving here three years ago, I've gone to a different salon every time I've gotten my hair cut because I've never been totally satisfied. I even just stopped getting my hair cut for waaaay to long just because I was tired of walking out disappointed - I figured it was worth it to wait until I was back in Los Angeles to have my old stylist do it right. I found Fez on Yelp and FINALLY have a salon I'll go back to. Roxie cut my hair, and she was great. She talked to me about my styling habits before starting to cut, and made sure I was happy as she went along. I went in with low expectations, and left feeling amazing - my hair hasn't looked this good in years. read more

Fez is my TOP choice for NYC hair salons! It is adorable, clean, reasonably priced and I always come out feeling like a movie star. Have been going to Lissette for about 4 years now and literally would not let anyone else touch my hair:) Oh and top of the line products for sale too! read more

Rudy is amazing! I went to him, dreading a new stylist after a salon experience from hell (pissy mood, yanking, tearing hair, ice cold/scalding water), arriving with a cut that looked as though I'd chopped off 2 inches myself. Rudy intuitively sensed what would fit me, and worked wonders with what had been a no-style cut. On top of that, he is warm and kind. Highly recommend. read more

I've been going to Anthony, the colorist, for many years as well as some of my friends. He is the person that brought me to Fez salon. I love how he does my color, he listens to you and you get the results that you ask for. He's a good conversationalist and I always have a lot of fun with him when I'm there. read more

I have never had a better cut in New York City and I've been hair-stylist "shopping" for four years. Fez also has a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that is really non-judgemental...a rarity in this city! I'm so happy that I have *finally* found a place I trust. read more

I know there are a lot of good reviews of Rudy on yelp, but I'd have to disagree. He is nice, that's true, but he certainly feels he knows best when it comes to hair. This led to a discussion about what I wanted done with my hair and, in the end, I partially conceded to Rudy because I figured he's the expert. I should have trusted my gut. He asked me at least 4 times if I was "sure" I didn't want bangs. Yes, I'm sure, maybe you think they'd look good, but they are more work for me and I've had bad BAD bangs in the past. I stuck to my guns on that one. I told him I didn't want much length cut, so he gave me this crazy 80's rock/choppy layered/mullet sorta thing. I tried to give it a few days to fall in love with it, but I am not the kind of girl who can rock an old-lady haircut and make it look like it's hip and fresh. I look old. I grew to loathe it more as days passed. I didn't even want it fixed by Rudy. I went to CT and got it fixed by a woman who acknowledged the botched cut and did what I asked to fix it (even though it could not be fully salvaged due to the type of cut). Like I said, he's nice but he really didn't listen to me and the reception is snarky. I just can't go back. read more

Eight years ago I googled "best colorist in Brooklyn" and Anthony's name popped up. I just went to see him today and, as usual, he did a fantastic job. read more
