I'd give this place 1/2 star if I could. We had a small group attempt to eat dinner here on 25 September, 2020. When we approached the hostess outside the door, it was clear she was very, very upset. Basically had a meltdown right in front of us. Throwing menus into the kiosk, and Berating the younger coworker that was also working the front desk. After witnessing this for almost a minute and a half, we commented perhaps we wouldn't want to eat there after all. The hostess heard us, and yelled "Like I care" as we walked away. My boyfriend took me here for my birthday dinner and I'm so glad he did. It was really great. I had the one pound baked potato stuffed with brisket, and all the fix ins. My boyfriend enjoyed his sandwich (can't remember which one). The renovations to this old building were done so tastefully. There's a patio that faces the river. Very well done! read more

Tried this place out as ther reviews were really good. Hmm..the ambiance is great, the welcome wagon when you walk in were really friendly. Then the food arrived. We were there at 7PM. The food came out and was ice cold. The roll on the plate was rock hard, the bbq was stone cold, potato was over cooked. Tried again, was ok second time around. Superb. Absolutely, superb. Myself, and two friends, came from St.Louis to Hermann for the first time to enjoy wineries and see the town. Around 2:00pm on a Saturday, we were ready for a meal, and randomly selected Fernweh. Immediately impressed with the ambiance and general atmosphere. This segued into being more impressed with their drink/food menu. The menu is thoughtfully created to appeal to all appetites; the wines/beer/cocktail selections was excellent as well. We ordered pretzels and seasoned fries to start, followed up with the 1lb baked potato, brisket grilled cheese and burger. 10/10. Whomever is working the kitchen is doing it properly. Top it all off with impeccably clean/maintained bathrooms and dining area. DON'T MISS IT!!!! If you're debating between Fernweh and another place, just go, and thank me later. We were here for a trip to Hermann in July with a group of 6. We sat on the patio. They were having a luau with a DJ. Our service was fantastic- He was so nice that we tried to invite him to hang with us the next day. Lol. The food we all enjoyed and the drinks were delicious! We ended up staying to dance and had an amazing time kicking off my birthday weekend. Will definitely be back! read more

People here are nice. The burger was a grand display of height but the flavor just wasn't there. Bartender can make some good cocktails but skip the whiskey tasting. read more

When we came in we were greeted with a lot of enthusiasm, and then they brought us to the bar for our tasting ($10 for 4 pours). The bartender was making drinks while giving us our very small pours. I felt like I was trying to pull info out about the product while she was muddling mint for tiki cocktails in front of us. I think that the smells of all the stuff she was making totally effected the way the whiskey tasted. I guess reading other reviews on here it depends on who the bartender is at the time. read more

So let me start with the atmosphere, such a classy and comfy ambiance. Next, the bartender Mr. Eli, go to him and ask for a Fortune Teller. He made the most spot on cocktail that was perfect for me just by telling him what I typically drink. I highly recommend, this is a must in Hermann! read more

We really enjoyed our meal at Fernweh Distilling. We also tried their whiskey, which was excellent. We started with caprese skewers which had great components. We then had brisket and pork from the smoker with a couple of sides, all delicious. I had one of their signature cocktails, Old Earl, which I enjoyed. My husband had their rye whiskey, which had a wonderful smoky flavor. He liked it so much we bought a bottle. read more

We arrived to this restaurant post the Bacon and wine walk. When we arrived we were moved to three different tables due to a "dj" and/or "large party" (we were told two different stories) the drinks were subpar and the food was ok. Expected much more from other reviews on Yelp but I personally was disappointed. read more

I will NEVER go here again! Six of us came in around 7:00 p.m. on a Friday night. A woman (maybe a manager) immediately told us it was "worth the wait" to eat their food. She said since we were "such a big party" - again, SIX of us, there would be a wait, but please don't change your mind about eating here because our food is really good." Age wouldn't tell us the wait time until we asked. 30 minutes. The two women told different people in our "big party" to go across the street and have a drink. Did you catch that? Fernweh is a DISTILLERY and they told us to go to a different bar! So, we did. And they served food and we ate there. 45 minutes later I get a text that our table would be ready in 15 minutes. This is the THIRD time (pre-COVID, mind you) the wait has been long (expected in a popular town), but also the third time the staff did not seem to care if we stayed or not. So, I can't tell you if the food is good...I wouldn't know. read more

Food for dinner is good; our group of four all enjoyed our meals. Cocktails are good, though the whiskey leaves something to be desired; it has an odd flavor, not bad just odd. Definitely not a traditional rye or bourbon. Dirty martinis were great. Front staff may need a little training on estimating time and on telling people who are being rude about the wait to go pound sand, because a certain segment of our population has spent the past 4 years being taught by an orange buffoon that acting like a jerk and stomping your feet like a little pissbaby will get you what you want 95% of the time. If you can't just hang out and have a cocktail and have a nice time while you wait, then stay home and let the rest of us enjoy ourselves without listening to you bellyache like a toddler. Great Experience! Sat on the patio for a Sunday lunch and had a great time! We started with the fried pickle spears....so delicious! Then split the chicken avocado sandwich! HUGE! I had the best Manhattan of my life my last visit. I didn't bother with their gimmicky Manhattans on the menu... but instead had a plain Manhattan, traditionally made... t was the best I've ever had --anywhere. First stop! Fernweh Distillery! Ok, my mother and i did a whiskey tasting and got educated!! Lol! It was so much fun! We were the first large group to be hosted by Fernweh! All 30 of us were very impressed with the food quality, the service, and the speed of service. You would never guess Fernweh had been open for less than a year with the organization! I loved the brisket gouda grilled cheese. The appetizers, including the fried pickles were very good. Staff couldn't have taken better care of us! The specialty drinks were very good and we tried several different ones without being disappointed. Definitely worth the trip and as a visitor we look forward to heading back the next time we are in town! read more

The brisket Mac was very good. Friendly staff. All staff wearing a mask which is appreciated
