I've eaten here about a dozen times. It's fairly upscale but quaint. The dress code is fairly dressy to formal. There's a huge selection of cocktails. The whiskey is really good here. The service is always good and the staff is always extremely knowledgeable about all the of food, drinks, and specials. It's right next to the river so the views are really nice. I've never had to wait more than 30 minutes to get a table and we often sat in the bar to eat. The restrooms are very clean. The menu is simple, which I admire a great deal. The food is fresh and very cutting edge modern. The brisket is always juicy as well. read more

My wife and I really enjoyed the brisket and shrimp tacos. In particular, the brisket tacos were exceptionally flavorful and packed full. Our drinks were excellent. Highly recommend The Gardener for a light, refreshing gin-based drink. I also had a maple pecan old fashioned, per Kimberly's recommendation, which was phenomenal. She even provided the recipe and hooked me up with what I needed to recreate the drink at home. Kimberly's service was fantastic - personable, attentive & insightful. We will definitely be back. read more

Best cocktails in Hermann, Missouri. We started with a sampling of their whiskeys and vodka then headed to the bar for some appetizers and cocktails. The pretzels were outstanding as was the spinach artichoke dip. Don't miss this venue if in the area!! read more

Came here for a quick cocktail and was pleasantly surprised. I tried the taste test and the different liquors they have to offer are very complex and flavorful. The bourbon was by far the best. I ordered a Manhattan and it was a very high class cocktail that had a delicious flavor. The bartender, Loren, was also very helpful and super friendly!! read more

This place is hands down my favorite lunch & dinner spot in Hermann. Great food, large portions for the money and excellent service! Shalonda did an outstanding job of taking care of us in addition to her excellent recommendations! We stopped in to try this restaurant on the recommendation of a local store owner. The atmosphere was very nice inside and out. It appeared that if you are into Whiskey tasting it would be a quite enjoyable place to visit. The food however is lacking in variety. Literally no side dishes are even available for sandwiches or entrees. Very strange. Only one unusual salad is on the menu. The brisket dinner was served with 2-3 slices of dry brisket and a triangle of Texas toast and a small pile of pickled onions. The zucchini starter is tasteless. The chicken skewers are fine but super dry with a minimal amount of tasty sauce and arugula. Service was very good at the beginning but as they got busier the service got slower. I would only recommend this place as a nice bar but don't go for a meal. read more

Fernweh Distilling was very impressive. A diamond in the rough in Hermann, Missouri. The spirits and the mixologist were absolutely great! The food was spot on with the brisket and flavors. No complaints from me. I am more surprised that Hermann is performing at this level. We will be back. Cheers! read more

This place is absolutely amazing their food and drinks are some thing you'll never forget about definitely must try and you will wanna go back!!!! I would suggest reservations on busy/wine tour weekends especially after 6. Outside seating if offered and service was on point.... So delicious!! I had the mushroom sandwich and it was flavorful and well seasoned. The sweet potato fries were a tad bit salty, but it was still good! The chocolate tarte is to die for! We went 2 nights in a row just for the dessert! read more

We tasted the spirits and they were good. Just a short wait for a table on a busy Friday at the start of a very busy season for Hermann was unexpected. The service was great! Decent cocktails are offered as well as wines and beers. The food was very good read more

We came for the tasting tour. Very lacking in luster compared to the tours in Kentucky. No tour of the distilling process and honestly not much history about if they local source their products or not. I had to ask. The "bartender" wasn't very animated and didn't look like he was enjoying himself at all. The had shirts and candles to purchase in their gift area. We did not sit and eat, however the view of the river from their patio looked magical. They are a fairly new distillery. Spirits were ok. Spice and bite to the taste for sure. read more

We came here for dinner our last night in Hermann. My fiancée had previously done the whiskey tasting here- he said he liked all the samples except for the moonshine. The service was wonderful- our server was very patient with us since we took our time to order! We had the warm pretzels to start, which were ah-mazing! The cheese sauce was not good but the warm honey butter was fantastic. I ordered the kc strip steak, which came with a baked potato and side salad, while he ordered the brisket grilled cheese with a side of green beans. Both entrees were very good; the steak had good seasoning and was cooked well, though it was a little fatty. This place was little pricier than other restaurants in the area, but worth it! read more

Good is decent, but pricey. $10 for a very small slice of pumpkin pie is a bit ridiculous

This place has a great atmosphere and good drinks. My only complaint and reason for the 3 star rating was the food and service. When my main course arrived at the table it was cold. I was with a rather large group of people and I feel like my dish was probably sitting there for awhile. It tasted great but it was not hot at all. A lot of the people in my group had the same problem. The distillery was not busy either, we were one of the only tables eating for lunch. It was also slightly over priced for what was being offered. We did a tasting after we were done eating and the bartender seemed like he was not wanting to do it. He seemed almost annoyed by our presence. I think there are better places in Hermann to spend your money when it comes to food and drinks. read more

Very limited menu and overpriced À la cart options. Everything is an up charge. Another new age Herman restaurant milking tourists and locals for everything they have. We can't wait for more food options to open up later this year in Hermann. The only reason this place has survived is because there are only 2 options for dinner unless you do the amazing 4 course dinner at alpenhorn. read more

First off ... Eli is the shit! Never met a more friendly and knowledgeable bartender that could do so much and still keep drink orders straight and get them out fast. He kept conversations flowing all while taking orders, making orders, and delivering drink orders. Second off ... the food is amazing. We stopped one night just for drinks and appetizers and came back the next day for lunch. Simple menu with dishes that are full of flavor, well proportioned, and just damn delicious :). Come for the food, enjoy the entertaining and friendly staff, and stay for some drinks. You won't be disappointed. read more

This place is a bustling place with a lovely cozy atmosphere. We visited during a chilly weekend. They dimmed the lights with candles made for a great evening. We started off our night in the tasting room. They were very nice and helpful. I'm not a bit fan of whiskey but I found that I enjoyed it. We then dined in the restaurant. We were at a high top where the bar tenders were assigned to serve. They were very nice abs helpful, just very busy. We did get our food and drinks fast. The drinks were so pretty! I had one called Peru to you, and I loved it! I had brisket, which was tasty. My one complaint is just that, since our servers were the bar tenders, they got busy making drinks for the packed restaurant and we kinda got left. We had to ask for our bill several times. Another cool thing they have is each month they have a themed meal from different counties around the world. I would be a fun event to attend if in Hermann! read more

We stopped in for a tasting today, and Michael did a great job walking us through the different types of whiskey. Although I didn't participate in the tasting, my husband was impressed with the whiskey offerings and the drink sample that came with the tasting. It was nice not to be pressured into buying a bottle, but we did buy a bottle of the rye to take home. When we go back to Hermann, we will definitely try the food! read more

This was a FANTASTIC choice for dinner. We ate on the outdoor patio and even though it was a little warm, fans were on. The view of the Missouri River was fabulous. I had the 1/2 rack of ribs with the Honey Rye sauce and it was fall off the bone tender. The sauce was spicy sweet and delicious. The steamed veggies we tender crisp. Service was a LITTLE slow but they were really busy. If you go and choose to sit outside just be prepared for three noise from the trains. This is right across ride street from the tracks and a LOT pic noisy loud trains go through. Overall, I would definitely go back. read more

Fun atmosphere, great drinks and excellent food. Very friendly staff. A must try after a day at the wineries.

As a local, I had high hopes for Fernweh. Let me start out with the good, the cocktails are great and any time I sit at the bar I have no issue. I'd like to consider myself an epicure, not to imply that Fernweh by any means is fine dining, but I have never been met with such consistent horrible service. Every time I have gone, the wait staff has been consistently neglectful. One time in particular, it took nearly a half hour for my friend to receive her cocktail. Then half of the table received their food and had to wait close to 20 minutes for the other half to recieve their food. When we brought the issue to the manager we were met with obstinance. The most recent time, my guests and I arrived at 8pm on a saturday hoping to grab a bite and were immediately turned away because the kitchen closes at 9pm and was told "we won't be able to catch up". Never in my life have I ever encountered such a ill-managed and ill-prepared restaurant with an ill-mannered staff in my life. read more

Wow! Impressive! My husband and I went twice! The first night we stopped in for a cocktail and the very sweet 'hostess', Sable, showed us around like it was her home and then took us to the second floor. It was beautiful and classy and not a bit stuffy. We sat in the leather seats by the fireplace and had their signature cocktail, Old Grey, and it was amazing! Spring was behind the bar and was very professional and pleasant! The next night we made sure and went back for dinner. I had the Scallop Bowl and my husband had the Jalapeño Burger. Both 10/10! We got to talk to Sable again, who was behind the bar that night and she filled us in on the story of the beautiful place. We can't wait to go back! read more

I have to agree with another reviewer.....Eli is the shit! The man is amazing and makes a wicked cocktail. He made me his special go-to cocktail (I believe it was his take on a Moscow Mule) and two Bees Knees that were, quite frankly, the Bees Knees! He is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and a master mixologist. Our server was also amazing and she comped our dessert after I asked for it 2x (which I thought was very generous). The outdoor space is incredible. It is right next to the river and was perfect for both our baby and dog. Finally, they have a great happy hour with a good list of cocktails for $6 (HH is 2-6 PM and 9-11 PM). Would highly recommend checking it out! read more

My husband and I tried this place today and it was AMAZING!! The turn around in that building is what drew us in at first, they have done an amazing job cleaning and remodeling what used to be Simons. When we came in we were seated right away and our waitress Ros came right over!! We ordered and got our food very quickly. I got the brisket grilled cheese and he got the burnt ends both of which where sooo good! Ros was so attentive and never let my tea run out and got us anything we needed!! I absolutely recomend everyone try them!!! read more
