Vic was recommended by my structural engineer, Efe from 4x Engineering. We removed some walls and the old kitchen to provide for an open concept and new kitchen with custom cabinets. In addition, Vic turned one of our smaller bedrooms into a large closet room, built our master bathroom vanity, and turned our master bedroom closet into an entertainment center while still provided tons of storage. Their shop doesn't have a huge showroom, but you can see all the projects they are working on. Vic is very easy to talk to, and recommended many options and ideas from what we provided him. He has brochures of different styles of cabinets and hardware, but most importantly, most of the style cabinet doors are hanging on the wall. If you are looking for something more specific, no doubt he has some project in the wood shop that may interest you, and he will happily bring you out back to check it out. I thought cabinets were very simple and quick, well, I'm sure they can be. But his team made the time and many visits from planning to finish. It's not just a one day thing. They made sure throughout the installation and process that we were satisfied. If something was off, they went back to the shop to correct the problem. KITCHEN: The primary reasons we went with custom cabinets were custom space, custom designs, and custom stains. I liked the shaker style cabinet doors, but they were so common. Vic showed me, if I recall correctly, Iceland style trim, which is similar to shaker but adds and extra groove. As you can see in the pictures, I believe it makes a huge difference with this little detail. Also, we let Vic know several stains we were interested in, and he takes the exact wood, White Oak for us, and stains it on there so you can take home and choose what is best. We did 3 rounds of 3 each for a total of 9 stains until we were happy. Here are some details of our kitchen: - Large island with Gas range/oven, storage on seating side, slide-out pot and pan drawers - Replaced old wall pantry with matching cabinetry - Upper cabinet with frosted glass (he has many types of glass to choose from) - Custom trash bin drawer with cutout for sink drain pipe cutting through at an angle - Corner carousel cabinet - All soft close hardware CLOSET ROOM: We used cheaper wood, but forgot what type, since we were on a budget and put most of it into the kitchen. With the space, we only needed the maximum shoe and clothes storage taking up the least amount of space, therefore no doors. MASTER BEDROOM: Both the sink vanity and entertainment console used matching Bamboo. The sink vanity has a custom drawer that has a cutout for a center sink drain. The entertainment console was measured for the TV mount and TV size, and the side cabinets were made to utilize the space behind the walls of the previous pocket closet. Overall, I highly recommend Fernandez Brothers for your custom cabinet needs. Obviously they will be more pricey than your standard Ikea cabinets, but you'll get exactly what you want with awesome quality! read more

I read the reviews on yelp and thought I would have Fernandez Brothers update my cabinet doors. I was hopeful until the project went awry. My project was to demolish old pantry and install pantry cabinet with shelves and drawers, replace kitchen cabinet doors, add few extra panels and repaint the cabinets. The job was to be a 2 day job and take place March 23-24. They didn't show up on March 23 nor did they call to explain why they didn't show up. After numerous calls to the project manager, they showed up at 11am on March 24. The project took 4 days and required another day a few weeks later to correct all the issues. Here is what went wrong: 1) Demo - was to remove screws and nail scratching pocket door. Project lead didn't tell crew or write it down so it didn't get done. 2) Paint cracked above the oven where they used putty to smooth the joint. 3) The counter cabinet door and panels were installed at the wrong height. There was an 1/4 inch gap exposed on the cabinet door. 4) when installing one of the panels, the screw went through the panel surface. It was poorly repaired and paint blemish was obvious. 5) Bottom cabinet drawer sides were too small. They made a new drawer but depth was too long. They took all the old drawers and were to match the sizes. 6) During the installation, they mis-drilled the holes for handles, use a dull drill but and splintered the wood in 16 drawers, which is almost all the drawers. 7) Not too impressed with the plywood used. Splinters too easy and required putty to fill pieces that fell out during cutting. They finally came back to fix the issues on 4/17. Took 3 guys the 6 hours to fix. Not pleased we had to take vacation time to resolve the issues. It was a big issue for the family as we had to live out of boxes for several weeks instead of a few days as promised. read more

Updated from 1 to 3 stars- Vic did send out some guys to address the paint peel issue very quickly. We were pleasantly surprised since we had experienced some frustrating communications issues during the install process. After the repaint, we can still see where the paint peeled, but I doubt anyone who hadn't seen it before the repaint would notice. Vic's paint guys are very talented and we are pleased with the outcome- for now. I left a 3 instead of a 4 only because our confidence is a little lost in the product. It feels like we will have to keep an eye on the paint for months to come to make sure we don't have more peeling. read more

Cabinets promised for first week of August, still not correct on October 9. They do not answer phone calls or emails from existing customers. If you call using a new phone number, they will answer. We supplied designs (drawings of plan and elevation), measurements, three on-site consultations with our general contractor. This cabinetmaker changed color, orientation, and design without contacting us. Some cabinets have been in and out three times, still not correct. They will not follow directions. We supplied dimensions of the oven and our microwave. After it arrived the second time still wrong, we marked with tape the correct location for the oven, both below and above, according to those dimensions. The cabinet arrived last week, everything still wrong. (The first time, they put the oven above my head!) They did not follow design on four other cabinets. No doors or drawers yet, two months after promised delivery. read more

The worse, if I can give them negative stars, I would. I hate every step of the way, very unprofessional. Let's start with the delay, try months instead of weeks. Then there was no meeting, I gave initial deposit when I confirm the style and color. Then no called back. My contractor got pushy because no counter top can go in when there's no lower cabinets, then finally weeks later, they came! Wrong size! They measured the kitchen 3 time, and this is the result they gave me. When it is finally in correctly, I found a huge problem, they didn't hear me repeatedly telling them I don't want any handles in kitchen cabinets. They didn't leave me with a niche for finger-pull that I specifically said in the initial meeting at the factory. They don't consult with me through meeting, they just do pencil drawing and use that as guide. There was never formal blueprint or even AutoCAD computer drawing. I ask for the installation schedule​ several times, nobody knows, not the owner, not the crew. I had so much regret going to them, and the list above is only the tip of iceburg. We gave them a huge job throughout our remodeling and all I can say is the contractor who introduced us is also finding same problems I had experienced in the past at his other clients. The finish look okay from far away, upon using it, trust me, anyone would get frustrated. This has ruined my life for several months because I was in school, working and watching over my family house remodel. Now it ruin my day because I have them do kitchen, all bath and powder room, and the living and dining room. They are horrible! read more

I can't say enough about Fernandez Brothers Cabinets. I hired them to replace my bathroom vanity, which was an ugly oak with an awful countertop. They built a gorgeous white cabinet and I picked out a white granite countertop that matched my bathroom much better. They did such a good job, my mother hired them to remodel her bathroom, which turned out fantastic. So when she decided to remodel her kitchen, she called Fernandez Brothers Cabinets. Her kitchen cabinets were so outdated and the setup wasn't as functional as it could be. We first used Rich Fernandez to do a small bathroom cabinet job. We were so pleased with the result that we hired him earlier this year to do a complete living room wall with built in cabinets to house our TV equipment, including book cases and fireplace hearth with the flat screen TV integrated into the wall above the fireplace. The result is so beautiful, it looks just like the magazine cover look that inspired it! Rich, his brother Vic, and the guys that work with them (George and Burt) all are so easy to work with. I cannot say enough nice things about Vic and all the guys that work for him at Fernandez Brothers Cabinets. We were in a pinch last year when doing our kitchen remodel - we had ripped out a soffit in our kitchen thinking we were getting cabinets from a pre-fab place. When we went to finally place the order (after numerous times of planning and asking dimensions) we learned the cabinets we wanted didn't come in the right length. After a referral from a friend, I spoke with Vic and he was happy to help. The kitchen came out better than my dreams. When in doubt - go with the suggestions that he makes. Vic is very experienced and does this regularly so he knows more than we do and his suggestions/choices were always better than what I was thinking. We had to have custom size cabinets when we moved the sink under the window because the center is a weird distance away from the wall - ended up with a bigger sink which is great! We also needed a piece to help hide a support beam and they built the cabinets around it with trim to hide so it blends in. They also added dividers to one of the lower cabinets so I could store my cutting boards and baking sheets standing up instead of stacked on each other. Finally, we added a bar cabinet to the corner that is just beautiful and ties the whole thing together. When I need cabinetry again for any reason, I know exactly who to call.
