Got a slice here after the portnoy video. It's OK. Too overdone and overly Krispy. Tasty sauce and fresh basil and cheese on top after. My slice was poorly cut and uneven. Small venue. Standing room with tables. 2 tables outdoors My plain slice was a fair $4.08 in cash. Competitive area with joes, Lindustrie, Mamas and slicehaus all walkable.

I don't know how anyone could give this any less than 5 stars! My goodness this is some of the best pizza I've ever had in my life. Cool little spot right downtown with friendly staff and a nice space. I'm surprised the pizza made it to the car before I opened the box and chowed down. Wish it was closer to me I'd go every day! Don't change a thing!!

Fermento offers a gluten free pizza in a way that makes you feel like you're eating a real pizza. The gluten free pizza was fluffy like a real pizza. It also had crispy edges *chef's kiss* The inside of the restaurant was clean and offered 3 standing tables. The staff were professional and nice and you can tell they are passionate about pizza.

Ate here with a friend who cant eat gluten. I was impressed by the gluten free pizza. You can hardly tell it's not made of flour. The only give away is the softer/fluffier texture when you bite into it. It doesn't have the same toughness/bite that gluten has. It did take 25 minutes to come out of the oven (we were initially told 15). I appreciated that the guy making the pizza changed gloves while making it (limiting gluten exposure/contamination). I also ate a slice of the vodka upside down (gluten), it came out quickly and had the perfect thin crispy crust.

Fermento's Pizza is outstanding! The crust is perfectly fermented (3 days to be exact) to give the crust a unique light, airy, and crisp with incredible flavor in every bite. It also does leave you feeling stomach feeling bloated. Really high quality crust. They also have a very high quality tasting gluten free crust. You can immediately taste the quality of the ingredients, from the rich, balanced tomato sauce to the fresh toppings. The attention to detail really sets this place apart. Everything feels thoughtfully made and authentically crafted. Ask for Hector who is absolutely the best, and welcoming, the vibe is relaxed and inviting! Perfect for grabbing a slice or sitting down to enjoy a full pie. If you're in the neighborhood, Fermento's is definitely worth a visit. Easily one of the best pizza spots around the West Village area at 226 Varick near the corner of Clarkson, across from Shake Shack .

One of the many artisnal pizza places that have popped up. The slice isn't bad. On a Portnoy scale 7.8

Fermento Pizza's reasonably priced, outstanding Vodka Upside Down (left) and NYC (right) slices

Wow! Walking around downtown and not expecting to discover such a fantastic 5-star pizzeria! Fermento makes amazing, memorable, reasonably priced slices!!! A bit hungry when I walked into this really small space, so decided to try a slice of their basic NYC slice and Vodka Upside Down. Paid in cash and noticed when that the prices for each slice were oddly and without explanation, slightly higher than posted even after tax, amounting to 30 cents, but thought it petty to question. Regardless, after receiving my beautiful slices, it really didn't matter. Both slices were topped with fresh basil, fresh grated cheese, and olive oil light drizzle plus perfect crusts (from my understanding using long-fermented dough, hence the name) - the flavor of each was unequivocally outstanding! As I finished, the young guy behind the counter walked out and asked how it was. Needless to say, I really look forward and may even go out of my way to grab more, delicious Fermento slices. I wish them well-deserved success, although not those lines of obnoxious, IG/Tiktok obsessed, FOMO tourists that dissuade us locals and kills the pleasure of being your customer!

Excellent new spot (opened Nov end 2025) in West Village! There are many pizza spots around here (ie: joes pizza, johns of bleekers, prince street, artichokes, made in New York, etc), but i am glad this one opened as it provides great flavor for great value!!! $3.75 reg slice $4.50 roni slice **Credit card vs cash payment is about 4% difference** Same owners as Ninos Beach in Port Washington! Great sourdough style pizza. Undercarriage is great along with its crust. Not too cheesy like neighborhood pizza (not that that its a bad thing either!). Bread to cheese ratio is great. VALUE AND FLAVOR ARE THERE! this is a must try and come back situation! :)

Sourdough crust pizzas are all the rage. The lines at l'industrie wrap around the block, so it was inevitable that similar spots popped up. This is one of them. No lines and very similar flavor. We tried a roni slice and a cheese slice. It's definitely a sourdough crust. The slices are good, a tab salty. A good alternative you want your pizza with more flavor than Joe's

Crispy crust great flavor( 72 hour fermentation time). Excellent sauce not too salty not too sweet. Excellent acidity. Definitely great price and the toppings slices as well are not overpriced!! Very friendly staff and very informative about the ingredients. Also has knowledge about business in general. Obviously he cares about the place he works at No seats but you can stand and eat a slice. Establishment is very bright and very clean. Put this on the Pizza NYC map.

Came back for other options and wasn't disappointed! The broken burratta might be my favorite so far. Take a lactaid before and after if you're lactose. The truffle pizza was good but a bit salty but not bad at all. Try for yourself.

An excellent pizza experience! We stopped here on our way to Joe's and John's and this place is a MUST stop and have a slice. The crust was crisp, cheese was sharp, and a little drizzle of olive oil put it over the top. Run by people you can tell really care about their product... you don't want to miss this one. We will be back for sure!

Amazing new slice shop in the East Village. Thin, crispy and flavorful, like a good slice should be. Very unique options too. For the quality, very good pricing. My new go to!

Best gluten-free pizza I have ever had. [Full Stop]…read more I've had a lot of GF pizza. I've tried to come here in the past -- but it didn't work out. I ordered via Uber Eats this time, and MAN -- I was blown away. I honestly thought that they had screwed up and sent me a gluten version. I checked the order and receipt. It was so good -- the crust so chewy with bite -- but light and airy and tight -- the cheese and toppings all great and fresh and delicious. It tasted like an awesome piece of NYC pizza. I was so happy. I did some Claude sleuthing -- and think I'm onto their magic with the crust -- and am excitedly going to experiment in my home kitchen in the coming weeks (Neapolitan oven, be damned!).

Located at 309 West 50th Street in New York City's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood, the casual eatery has an extensive list of pizzas. Don Antonio has over 30 types of Neapolitan pizzas, and the menu is a little bit daunting at first due to so many options, but even the pickiest eater will find something they'll want to eat. To top that off, Caporuscio recently debuted a brand new pizza tasting menu that features a curated lineup of never-before-seen pizza napoletana, and seven varieties of pizza fritta (fried pizza). Lastly, the entire pizza menu is now available gluten-free. With vast offerings, they are ambitious, and every dish is outstanding.

RIGHT BY THE DOOR. Do people not realize that putting a bar near a door on a freezing cold night benefits no one? Good thing I did not order alcohol or I would have froze to death. Seriously, none of the pies stood out in grand memory. All I can think of is, well, nothing. Nothing positive anyway. The names of the pies are funny, and the staff is friendly, but besides that, the quality of the food for lack of a better word, dare I say it, sucks. Hoping to salvage the meal, I ordered their Chicken Parmesan. It was the Hail Mary pass that unfortunately did not connect. The cutlets are overcooked and dry, and the red sauce cooked with it has minimal tomato flavor. At least the spaghetti is cooked to a nice al dente and mellow garlic butter flavor, but like the sauce cooked in, it is also minimal. Part of the problem I feel is they are trying to go for a vibe that has a New York and modern feel. It does not work. Stay true to one or the other. Or at least look at other business models. I will use another pizzeria in Bushwick that exemplifies it perfectly. It is a hipster pizzeria in a hipster neighborhood. Through balance, it creates an ambiance both welcoming and warm without losing any of its Bushwick character. It does this by not beating you over the head with hipster vibes, just enough to let you know that you are in Bushwick. The band Franz Ferdinand was playing as I was wrapping up. Rather than take the pizza out, I suggest you throw it out. Overall pizza rating: 1.7/5

I have to say the centerpiece of the entire narrow room is the bar itself, and let me tell you, it is an absolute stunner of a contrast. Instead of the usual dark, sticky tavern wood, they've dropped in a long, continuous slab of pristine, elegantly smooth white stone. It glows under the soft lighting like a block of polished marble. There are no strobe lights and no obnoxious, skull-rattling bass in this joint. Instead, the room is wrapped in a blanket of incredibly chill music that matches the pulse of the room perfectly. It's just loud enough to drown out the noise in your own head, but quiet enough that you don't have to scream over the smooth white counter to be heard. People aren't here to be seen on TikTok; they're here to disappear for an hour or three. You slide into a chair, order a proper Old Fashioned from a bartender who doesn't rush the pour, and watch the ice melt against the amber-lit brick. It's the ultimate underground exhale--a perfect, narrow slice of peace in a city that never shuts up. Cheers!
