My wife and I loved this place for many years. We travel to the area pretty frequently. Most of the time we pop by, taste wine and leave with multiple bottles and unique gifts. We decided to take my elderly parents there on this occasion. There were two females working in the tasting area. One of the employees has been in the industry for many years and was very kind to us. The other one was very rude to my parents. She said some inappropriate things and threw out some digs at my mother. It was bizarre. We were all taken back by her behavior. The other employee was clearly bothered by her behavior and apologized. We are definitely not sensitive people or the type to complain, but we will never come back to this business and I intend on sharing our experience with as many people as possible to prevent them from going through an experience like this on what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation stop. read more

This is an amazing little wine shop. $5 wine tasting! We got to choose 5 different wines from a wide variation of local varietels. We left with a tasty bottle of cab from Paso Robles, Forces of Nature. Lyn was incredible. She was very sweet and helpful. She answered all of our questions that we had about the wine, Cambria, Paso Robles, etc., and had quite a few suggestions on fun things to do around the region. The shop had lots of tasty sauces/marinades and oils and vinegars. that were available to sample and all kinds of other cool stuff for the vinophile. My fiance refused to leave without the Ginger, Lime, Sesame marinade. We can't wait to use it on some fish and grill it up. I highly recommend Fermentations if you're in Cambria. My fiance and I are planning on taking another road trip up this way in April with some friends and can't wait to take them here. read more

My friend and I did two tastings each.. so may choices!! we had some cheese with our wine and at the end of the evening we walked out with 15 bottles of wine and we are now Wine members!! A bit more of a knick-nacky place than an actual wine bar. They do have an ok selection and apparently the wine tasting is a good deal (unfortunately I cannot comment on that). However, most of the front of the store is filled with little "cute" wine related items. It's a good place to go if you're looking for a little souvenir or something. read more

Fun little place to stop in and chat with Margerie and the other clientele, especially since she helped me get into a nice place to eat later. The wines were decent enough, though I only liked one enough to pick up, but for such a small tasting fee there was plenty to go around and offers to pour more, as well. Not so much a wine bar as opposed to a tasting room and gift shop. I'd been hoping to find a place where I could sit and order wine by the glass, and that wasn't available here. I was also surprised that most of the wines available to taste weren't particularly local - most were from Monterey county, and two were even from France! That said, the staff was very friendly, the wine selection was tasty, and it stayed open a bit later than most stores in Cambria, so I am a fan and would happily return. read more

Very helpful staff at this wine store. They offer wine tasting as well. Interesting edible gifts. They sell Frog Balls which are spicy pickled Brussel Sprouts. We passed on those, but picked up some cherry balsamic vinegar "salad drizzle" for a souvenir. Loved doing a wine tasting here! We were waiting for our reservations at Linns which is right across the street. Decided to pass the time with the 2 for 1 tasting that the Pines Lodge has given us as part of our package. The thing I loved about this place was that it wasn't just one winery's wine, it was a whole mixture. So you pick your five wines from a whole list - reds, whites, sweets, sparkling. My boyfriend and I have very different tastes so we were each able to explore our own options. The woman pouring was very nice and we were the only 2 in the shop at the time so we wandered between each pour. Just a great casual environment with a fun variety. We ended up returning home with a great wine that we both liked. I'm told they change their menu every so often, as my parents went the next month and it was different so you can keep trying new things. read more

I absolutely loved my wine tasting experience here. I have never done this before but me and my family decided to go for my aunts 50th birthday. The ladies behind the bar were amazing and hard working. They were really busy but somehow throught the crazyness, all 9 of us were attended perfectly. we purchased 2 wine bottles, kept two glasses, purchased cheese and crackers for the tasting and wow, amazing time. They seemed mostly like they didn't really want to be there or perhaps didn't know much about the wines. But, nevertheless they were not interested in pouring. At least the wine tasting was only $5! My husband and I stopped by for a wine tasting and to ask for a few winery recommendations in the Paso Robles area. We were treated so poorly by the employee that we ended up turning around and walking out without any tips or tasting service. It was honestly the worst customer service my husband or I have experienced in years. The man working at the shop completely ignored us for the first 5 minutes of being in the store and when he finally did address our presence he was extremely condescending and refused to give us any clear information about the area. I went in to use the coupon I got from the Cambria Pines Lodge but had managed to leave it in the hotel room. An old guy with white hair said there was no coupon from my hotel but I was sure I had seen one. I ended up buying a small packet of sliced cheese and a small one of Prosciutto for $6 each without the coupon thinking I was confused. When I got back to the hotel room, there was the coupon. I was disappointed that they care to include a coupon then deny it even exists. I felt kinda dumb for spending so much on those two items. This kind of thing is never cheap but still it was a bit pricier here. Oh well. read more

we've been here before. today our wine server was Trina. she was great. very friendly and welcoming. she was the only working the counter today so we waited for her to f up with her current customers. no problem waiting it's a fun shop to walk around. The wine tasting was $10 per person and you got 5 tasting of your choice. ou favorite wines of the current sel were the santo Italian wine, the pineapple and peach wine were also tasty but if you don't like very sweet wines then avoid the pineapple/ peach wine. The santo wine would be great with fish or chicken dishes. this place isn't a restaurant. if you like very very sweet wine and like port wine you should try the ruby port wine it a sipping wine not chug it down wine. we lik it so much we bought 2 bottles to take home. if you're new to wine and don't know what to try just ask your server and they will gladly recommend wine selections for you. we'l be back next time we come to Cambria. remember to tip your server. read more

My girlfriend has been coming to the Central Coast for years and she wanted to show me Cambria. She is a wine drinker, I was not. We were kicking around town and asked where would be a good place locally to do a bit of wine tasting. Every single person down Main Street said check out Fermentations. We were told it's not a winery, but a wine bar with five tastings for $5! Sold. We walked in and were greeted by Cheri. The entire place is warm and inviting. Not the least bit intimidating to the novice. Cheri is amazing. Her vast knowledge of the regions wines was beyond impressive. And her genuine kindness is rare! So much so, we visited the shop every day on vacation. We also met Linda who was exactly like Cheri. Warm and inviting! And you could tell these two were trouble in the very best way! If you are on the Central Cost, stop on in to Fermentations, have a glass and strike up a conversation! You will not be disappointed! read more

Stopped in here a few days ago and still feel the need to post this review. My hubby and I are wine buffs and we were told to stop in here and check it out by another merchant. We had our small Peke with us, but there was a small white notice on the front window which said they are pet friendly. When we entered the shop an older woman behind the counter said we couldn't bring our dog in. I then offered to carry our dog in my arms, but she shook her head saying no. We were flabbergasted. We wanted to do the wine tasting. Well, we ended up going to another winery and buying a case of wine and a membership with them. We went back to the merchant who told us to go here to tell them about our experience with this shop, he was dumbfounded, as are we. read more

I love this place. There was a great selection of boutique wines and the prices were reasonable. The owner was very welcoming and congenial. She recommended some wines I had never tried before and gave me an extra sample because it was my boyfriend's birthday. She even offered us some chocolate to pair with one of the tastings. The employees are always very patient and kind and they've never directed me to the "more expensive" wine just to make an extra buck. The store is clean, and the prices are decent. Come for the name, stay for the wine and service! We were wandering around town in the afternoon and on a spur of the moment decision, decided to stop for a wine tasting. And thank goodness we did! The wine selection here is amazing! Never before have I had such a consistently good selection of wine at such a great value! And if you happen to be here, see if Sherri (Shari? Sherry?) is working. She was such a delight and had great suggestions and information. We tasted some whites, then reds, and snacked on some cheese and salami (also very well priced!). If I lived here, I would 100% become a member, maybe I will do so regardless. Nevertheless, it was an afternoon well spent! In lieu of driving all over Paso searching out great wineries you should definitely spend an afternoon or evening in downtown Cambria at this amazing wine store that has a great selection of local wines. 5 for $5 tastings of super-local, really good to amazing wines from wineries in Paso, SLO, and Cambria. You get to choose which 5 wines you'd like to try from their ever-evolving list of at least 20 wines. You can also just buy a glass of any wine off the list. Or a bottle from the selection of hundreds in the store. The host, Keith, had great California stories, great advice on Cambria eats and places to go, and great local wine knowledge! He was the best! The owner has a great palate and picks really unique and delicious wines to showcase. Definitely worth a visit every time you're driving through or staying nearby. Plus it's one of the few places in Cambria open until 8pm :-). For real! read more

I went here a few weeks ago during a trip to Hearst Castle. I don't recall the tasting being only $5, but maybe it was. Yes, you get to keep the glass, but how many "XYZ Vineyard/Tasting Room" glasses does one really need? I'm going to start letting them keep their glasses when I go tasting. But then I do have a tendency to break glasses...But I digress.... The staff were very friendly and helpful (unlike the lame people at the Cookie Crock market!), giving us a map of the Paso Robles area and recommending wineries to visit there. Cute shop with super-cute items for purchase, including very reasonably priced corkscrews and yummy dips and such (free tastes). Our host was a little distracted and poured a little out of order, but it's all good. We were really glad we stopped there. Good place to get started if you're just getting into town/the region off of PCH and want to get oriented. Drink on, fellow winos! p.s.
