Nice staff. What a neat place. We did the wine tasting with 5 wines for $5. I only like the ports and dessert wines and they had 8! Most places only have 1 or 2. They said they change their selections so its not always the same. I was surprised they had a local winery by me (Madera,Ca) If you like sweet wines try the ones from Quady winery on the list. They need to carry the ELYSIUM black muscat from Quady too.. Yum!! They would sell a lot. If you have kids there is an ice cream place next door. We sent our teens to get ice cream and we had wine :-) read more

Come for the name, stay for the wine and service! We were wandering around town in the afternoon and on a spur of the moment decision, decided to stop for a wine tasting. And thank goodness we did! The wine selection here is amazing! Never before have I had such a consistently good selection of wine at such a great value! And if you happen to be here, see if Sherri (Shari? Sherry?) is working. She was such a delight and had great suggestions and information. We tasted some whites, then reds, and snacked on some cheese and salami (also very well priced!). If I lived here, I would 100% become a member, maybe I will do so regardless. Nevertheless, it was an afternoon well spent! Do yourself a favor and carve out a little time to stop by at the counter and enjoy this lovely shop! read more

In lieu of driving all over Paso searching out great wineries you should definitely spend an afternoon or evening in downtown Cambria at this amazing wine store that has a great selection of local wines. 5 for $5 tastings of super-local, really good to amazing wines from wineries in Paso, SLO, and Cambria. You get to choose which 5 wines you'd like to try from their ever-evolving list of at least 20 wines. You can also just buy a glass of any wine off the list. Or a bottle from the selection of hundreds in the store. The host, Keith, had great California stories, great advice on Cambria eats and places to go, and great local wine knowledge! He was the best! The owner has a great palate and picks really unique and delicious wines to showcase. Definitely worth a visit every time you're driving through or staying nearby. Plus it's one of the few places in Cambria open until 8pm :-). For real! read more

This place is full of cute stuff to peruse while you're tasting. Helpful hints from the staff on which oils/vinegars/dips to try with each wine. Neat that they feature so many local wineries. Walked away with some yummy fig lemon balsamic vinaigrette. read more

Warm and welcoming vibe in the heart of downtown Cambria. Fermentations is a lovely little tasting room/shop with the friendliest staff located in this charming little town (definitely worth visiting on your back from Hearst Castle). The tasting fee is only $5/person for 5 tastings. That's an amazing deal! And so many varieties to choose from! read more

Great place for a stop for a quick $5 wine tasting while walking through the neighborhood shopping around. The woman was friendly and informative. I will definitely be back!! And there's some pretty cool Vino related merchandise... read more

Totes 'dorbs wine shop right in the heart of downtown. $5 tastings with lots of great local options on the menu! They also have samples of their fancy mustards and sauces placed out in the shop. Our server was so nice and friendly, she recommended some good stops in downtown Cambria as we enjoyed our flight of tasty pinot, bubbles, and other reds. Ended up buying a bottle for my parents, and there's tons of cute knick knacks in the store to look at as well. Great little stopping place! read more

What drew me and my girl in was the cool artwork in the window display and the chalkboard sign inviting us in for a tasting. What made us stay was the ambiance; nice open floor with a gracious host, kitschy things to look at while tasting and just a general relaxed vibe (which is nice after driving 4 hours from LA after a 65 hour work week). Wish they provided crackers or something to nibble on, but that's probably just me being hungry at that time :) Definitely worth a stop read more

Here for a couple nights and thought I'd mosey on over to check out some wines, and the place did not disappoint! Monica and Connie are so sweet and nice and the Reds I tried were very good. I ended up chatting for a while with Monica and enjoying a couple glasses of the petite Syrah, also bought a couple bottles to take home. Friendly people, and a great shop. read more

$5 for 5 wine tastings? Yes, please!! Great local wines, generous pours, tasty snacks available for purchase. Friendly staff in a relaxed atmosphere. Nice selection of wine and wine-themed merchandise and gourmet food items. Enjoy a $5 sampling flight, then purchase a glass of wine and relax at one of their high top tables and snack on some prosciutto, cheese, and crackers. Great light lunch :) Don't forget to buy some bottles to take home!! read more

Lovely place. Good wines, very inexpensive tasting, and great prices on bottles and accessories.

Great wine tasting and place to shop for wine related items. $5 for five tastes, and you get to keep the glass; what a deal!

Connie was the best! We didn't stop laughing the entire time. The wine was amazing and we ended up getting 4 bottles.

Such a nice place with nice people and a comfortable down to earth atmosphere. Connie was so friendly, helpful and such fun. She had us laughing and talking with the other guests. We felt like we'd known her for years. Don't miss this place on your trip to Cambria. read more

Super friendly and knowledgable staff. Check prices before you buy though. They are definitely on the high end for the same wines elsewhere. Plus, they did not waive the tasting fee even though we bought two bottles. read more

Love the wine and the people! Really unassuming and friendly to share their opinions or let you sit back and enjoy the wine. Thanks!

Amazing wine tasting deal and great wines!! We had a splendid afternoon with Kathie and we each went home with a bottle of wine. Definitely going to sign up for the wine club. Can't wait to go back! read more

Amazing choices of wine. Ask for Connie. Exceptionally friendly staff. First time visiting Cambria. And this place made the trip worth it.

Excellent selection of wines and ports! We like to getaway every few months to the central coast and always stop in to Fermentations. It's only $5 for the wine tasting and the manager, she's always so sweet and pleasant! We will be there again in March for my birthday and we will definitely stop in to enjoy a casual wine tasting! read more

By far the best place to wine taste in Cambria! They have a good selection to choose from and the best part is if you want to keep your wine glass its only 2 bucks! Great price for a glass! Every time I go I always buy a glass to add to my Fermentation wine glass collection! read more

Interesting concept ... a chance to sample any of a variety of wineries. Our hostess knew nothing about wines, but was friendly and was able to get what we ordered. read more

Let me start by saying this: I don't drink at all. Never even tasted a beer. Went inside because my friend loves wine tasting. Then the lady said, I think I have something you might like. I was asked if I like chocolate. Who doesn't like chocolate. It was chocolate wine. OMG. I walked out with 3 bottles. Hope I don't end up at Betty Fords House. The place is actually very quaint and adorable. read more

I love this l stop. They have everything. Valeria was very informative on the places to eat. Cute little store to pick up gifts. You have to go here. read more

Extremely disappointed with the man at the counter today. I went in hoping to find two bottles of wine. I asked if he had a sample of the selected white wine. He told me "I have 150 different bottles here and I can't open all of them!" Nice, huh? I asked a simple question and got a smart ass response. Terrible customer service. I walked out. read more

Wonderful service and great wine. The wine tasting is a steal at $5. Went home with 3 bottles and can't wait to enjoy them again.

This place is awesome. It's a wine store that offers tastings. The people there are so friendly. We didn't love all the wines but some of the reds were really good. We also did the dessert wine tasting and the milk chocolate Cabernet was delicious. We ended up doing two tastings because they had a really good selection. We bought two bottles and had a really nice time. Definitely recommend stopping in!! read more

Some friends & I stopped at Fermentations on a Sunday afternoon for wine tasting. We selected two places at the bar where a glass and tasting notes had been set out. After being poured our first tasting, there was a bit of commotion as a rather loud patron pushed his way up to the bar next to us hollering "EXCUSE ME!" to anyone in his path, pushing us aside in the process. We moved down several feet to allow for him and his companion, and he continued to press against us talking so loudly we could not hear each other or the server who came by for our next pour. We exchanged words with the gentleman, pointing out we had already moved and that he was continuing to push into us. He became quite angry and proceeded to make very rude remarks about us loud enough for everyone to hear. Management seemed to know the gentleman, made sure his wine glass was full and whispered to us, "Thank you for understanding." We stated we felt his and their behavior was uncalled for, put our money on the bar and left. Not a word from management to us to try and stop us from leaving or return our money even though we did not complete our tasting. Epic fail Fermentations - We DON'T understand as we visitors ARE your business too and our patronage should be just as valuable to you as your regulars! read more

This place is one our favorites in Cambria, the wine can be hit and miss (but normally a hit), and it is always a great stop. The pours are healthy and there are lots of choices. The staff is really friendly and super helpful. It is located right in town and a fun stop while shopping. Thanks for the fun times! read more

It started off as a great experience, but unfortunately the locals became very rude and pushy! If you want to attract your tourist visitors you will certainly need to step it up. At this moment I don't believe I would EVER recommend any one visit your establishment!!! Your visiting patrons ARE your business!! :( read more

What a wonderful little shop! My hubby and I were in Cambria for our wedding anniversary and popped in and bought something. After walking all through town came back to do some wine tasting. Was great that for $5 we got five wines so we each picked 5 different ones. We really enjoyed chatting with the helpful staff and ended up joining the wine club too. It was a reasonable price and only 3 times a year which is perfect for us. Plus, you get a gourmet food item too. Ended buying quite a lot to bring back for us and gifts as well. Definitely a great place especially if you want to taste wines from different wineries instead of all from the same place. Wonderful to get to keep the glasses as a nice memento from our anniversary weekend. We will be back! read more

USED TO BE our favorite spot. Had tasted there many times, even went out of our way to stop by. We went to their new location on opening day and we happened to have our newborn with us in her stroller. As my wife was walking around their store a man asked her to leave because they don't allow anyone under 21. We then went to MANY other tasting rooms (with the newborn) and wineries with absolutely no problem. Owners would welcome use with open arms! Very disappointing. Won't be recommending. read more

I LOVED THIS PLACE!! After a tour of Hearst Castle, a friend of mine found this place here at yelp and suggested we go before getting lunch and heading home! I am not a real wine lover but this place had me hooked on all the "sparkling and dessert wines" 5 tastes for $5 plus you get to keep the glass is a steal. The person who helped us was so very nice and actually gave us more like 8 tastes, I left with 3 bottles and a new appreciation for wine. If you go there try the Electra Orange Muscat YUM! read more

Great place in a cute little town to do some wine tasting. You can't beat the selection to try 5 wines for $5. Don't let the name "Chocolate Port" fool you though, it's not that good port. All of the others that my Mom and I tried were quality, great wines. They also have some good food items for snacking during your tasting. The person working was friendly and knowledgeable. read more

Great little wine bar and super cute items in their shop. The lady helping us was very knowledgable. Would come here again!!!

Definitely a great stop if you're in Cambria and want a nice bottle of local wine to sip as you watch the sunset. The tasting is $5 and you can choose from a wide variety. I found a delicious Grenache, a tawny port, and a late harvest Chard, all for under $75. The Grenache was polished off within the next couple hours. We'll be back. read more

Best of our whole trip!!!!! Don't miss this!! My husband and I stopped in for a tasting yesterday after having done a few tastings in paso Robles the prior day. Michelle was so much fun!!! She made this tasting the best of our entire trip!! Thank you so much!! Generous pours! Great stories! Cute shop! read more

Stopped by here with a friend of mine, we stopped in Cambria for a rest from our trip to Big Sur. Wine tasting is $1 per glass, so we went ahead and did 10 tastings each, it was a lot of fun and it was our first time ever wine tasting. The whole shop is adorable and full of cute gifts and knick knacks for wine lovers. The staff was super friendly and was more than happy to answer all our questions about wine terminology and all our other curiosities about wine. It was a really good experience, one of the best stops of our road trip. read more

This little store is a gem, my favorite in Cambria. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable about wines and the region. The wine tasting is great - they always have an interesting selection of wines that you would have a hard time finding elsewhere. There is also a selection of quirky but not kitsch wine-related merchandise. Next time you are in Cambria be sure to add Fermentations to your must-visit list. read more
