I used to love heading to Ferguson Brewing Company for great beer and good food in a cozy atmosphere. Sadly, it's not quite the same. The space feels much more sterile and basic than before. There's no longer art by local artists on the walls; it's all goofy metal art (big letters spelling BEER), their own growler containers, and mass-produced printed canvas pieces depicting the usual kitchen/beer themes. Between the two of us we tried five beers (a flight and a full pour), and I had a hard time distinguishing some from one another. Every one was mild and watery--even the bourbon porter, which was dark in color but mild in taste. It's pitched as having a 9.8 ABV, but I definitely didn't feel like I consumed that much alcohol. The food was lackluster as well. As shown in my photos, the pretzel bites were served with a trio of dips, and the nacho cheese was cold with a solidified "skin" on top. The "beer cheese" did not seem like cheese; it was more like cheese-colored Ranch dressing--salty, with specks of spices and such, and liquid at room temperature. The flatbread was an odd format--as if the thin crust was baked in advance, then they put on toppings and maybe microwaved it. The meat was tasty piled pretty generously but didn't get near the edges of the crust. The cheese wasn't quite melted, and definitely never got bubbly or browned. The Cobb salad was as described on the menu; it includes bacon but not chicken (that's a $4 upcharge.) Both food and drink prices are reasonable. Our server was competent and cordial. Parking is easy; there's a big lot in back, plus plenty of street parking in the area. read more

My family and I came here after a graduation at UMSL. We got there right when they opened and we had 10 people in our group. The waitress got a table together quick for us which was nice. I can't drink because I'm pregnant but everyone at the table that got a beer really liked what they got. Some of the men especially liked the Hefeweizen! To share we got the local brat board and loaded tots. The brats and pretzels were soo good. I really liked that Ferguson Brewing gets their brats locally sourced. I was so pleasantly surprised with this place! I came here after my graduation and i immediately loved the vibes here. It felt very homey and had so much character. I didn't get a drink but my family did and they were all happy with their beers and their seasonal ones looked fun. I'd love to go back and try them! The food here was the star of the show, it was delicious and everyone was so pleased with what they got. I got the chicken tenders with baked beans and fries and wow, it was very elevated and just so delicious. The baked beans had so much flavor and fries were crispy as well as the tenders and I was so happy about that. My favorite part of the meal was the bbq sauce, it is up there with my favorite barbecue sauces now and that says a lot as an avid barbecue sauce lover. The sides I chose were potato salad and seasonal vegetables. The potato salad measured up to the meatloaf and I scarfed it down pretty fast. The seasonal vegetables though? Horrible. Like MUSH. We went to Ferguson Brewing Company on Saturday February 20, at 5:00 PM. The restaurant had just a few people in there, yet service was incredibly slow and disorganized. Apparently they were short-staffed, so the hostess had to double as our waitress. I might be more forgiving if the place was busy, but she wasn't even seating anyone, and yet still could not even be relied upon to do something as simple as bringing beers in less than a half an hour. We ordered two of the exact same type of beer at the same time, and yet, 20 minutes later she brings back one beer and walks away. I went to the bar and got the other one myself. Later in the evening, after waiting over 20 minutes for my beer I went up and got it myself. Our waitress arrives 15 minutes later with the beer I had ordered over a half an hour ago. I got the smoked meat platter which was very dry and had no smoky flavor that I could detect by smell or by taste. I ask management to take this criticism in the helpful spirit it is intended, and coach your team to be more mindful and efficient. When your hostess has to substitute for being a waitress, perhaps give her a pad of paper and teach her to follow up on orders. read more

Came here on a Sunday in the early afternoon, kind of late-ish for lunch, and it was hard to find parking because the place was busy. The host/hostess was also nowhere to be seen for 15 minutes, so we couldn't even put our names in to wait for a table. He apologized for any long waittimes (e.g. for food because the restaurant was busy and the kitchen was backed up). The heifeweizen was tasty and had a very fruity note to it. The Cuban sandwich came on a really soft, fluffy bread that was just so pleasant to bite into. Wasn't expecting that because I'm used to Cuban sandwiches being pressed? but the different bread seemed to work. I thought there could have been more ham, but the pulled pork was flavorful enough to make up for it. We made it in time for a happy hour and dug into a plate of Italian Beef sliders for $4. Yum!! Our group also enjoyed the Pouteen and Pulled Pork sandwich. The onion rings looked delicious but we found the batter too hard for our liking. Seriously thought I could break a tooth if I ate them.
