I for sure found my new place to shop. What a great local store for gifts, clothes and art. Although small, it really does have so much, there is literally something for everyone I picked up some great postcards of DC monuments to display as art and to send to friends back home. The person working was really nice and helpful, and I can't wait to go back and see what new things they have. read more

I stumbled upon this shop last year, back in October. I bought a couple prints, and my girlfriend always wanted to come back. Since they were a "pop up shop," we never could catch them while in the city, but this weekend we got lucky! They're now more permanently there, but not permanently, I guess the way to say that is. This is a Hispanic & black woman owned business, YAY! And they have so many cool & eclectic pieces, from prints to vintage drinking glasses, to records, clothing, crystals, greeting cards, etc... lots to see and look at! We will definitely be back next time we're in the area. We love it here. read more

This is a very cool little local shop in Cleveland Park. There are a lot of great, useful, and artistic products, and the staff was very helpful in talking about the products and suggesting things. I'm very happy with the aromatherapy products and coasters I got there. They also have books, household products, and other neat things to look through. Discovered the Femme Fatale pop up on my way to Union Market. Nicely filled out space with things to eat, buy and craft. Its tagline is "by womyn, for womyn", and the storefront is not only a market place, but a community space where lounging is encouraged. The location is in the old Union Social space in Florida Ave, so there's a nice bar space with a long counter at the front. To your left are several vendor spaces with jewelry, scarves, clothes (gently used and new-to-you; I don't think anything was artisan made), lotion, candles, stationary. The back of the building has a really cool artists lounge with another bar featuring teas and kombucha, lots of paintings on the wall for sale, tables and mounds of pillows to sit on, and crafting events. Today there was a sew your own monster toy activity. One of the woman mentioned they have an Oracle come in on Thursday nights and that they have a slate of seasonal activities like witch movie screenings planned to celebrate the spooky season. Cool concept and fun to check it out. Keep this place in mind when you're in the area and support your local womyn businesses! read more

A playhouse for anyone that identifies as female. This is a very chill place to spend an evening. Giant pillows and bohemian rugs on the floor, this is a great place to view art and also make some of your own. You can do some shopping for local DC goods or check out the vintage shop (a bit overpriced). There are alcoholic drinks and teas for sale. There's also food if you want a snack. The vibe in this place is AWESOME! I came on a Friday night and there was even a female DJ. Overall, this is such a cool place to just relax and be around amazing artistic women. IF YOU'RE BLACK, DONT GO HERE! I came into this store over the summer as I was intrigued by the outdoor signage. Walking in, I admit that the items were cute- tote bags, colloquial buttons, etc. I couldn't help but notice the amount of paraphernalia that was being sold that had Black women on it. Keep this in mind as I continue this review. I was browsing the store when I spotted the Egyptian perfumes that I've seen online. I stopped to smell the scents on the display (which is towards the back of the store). A lady, which I now presume is the owner, walked toward the back where I was (and the only person back there might I add) and she verbally indicated that she "forgot what she came back there for". Noting her comment, I continued to smell the scents but I noticed her doing menial tasks behind me, clearly pretending to search for something to disguise that she was watching me. I proceeded to turn around to look at the clothing display and turned back around to see her checking the display I was previously standing at. At this point, it was very clear that she was checking to see if I had stolen anything. I became extremely uncomfortable with the realization that I was being profiled. On the way out the store, I kindly turned to her and let her know my discomfort. She proceeded to chase me out of her store yelling at me to come back. Outside of her store, I turn to engage in conversation and she proceeds to offer me a disjointed explanation for why she was in the back of the store, to which was met with me telling her yet again to have a nice day. Walking away, she continued to chase me out of her store and I responded that she was now harassing me. Her last few comments to me were that I needed to be detained and that I "shouldn't bring that up into her store". I was extremely disappointed by this experience- the store has such great potential but as a Black women I am continuously disappointed by these experiences that force me to call out this awful behavior. I hope in the future customers aren't treated this way. I wrote this review not to be spiteful but to encourage the owner and staff to be cautious of this and to be aware that this is not acceptable! read more

This was a fun and artistic space with a very creative vibe. I was able to shop AND enjoy a fun evening where we learned to dye fabrics with food-plants. We had vegan catering (delicious!!) as well as the dying instructions. I left with new shorts, a handmade bowl, a full belly and a new silk scarf/napkin dyed with cabbage, turmeric and other plants. read more

The vibes that this amazing womyn run business gives off are enlightening and encouraging for all. This place takes the definition of girl gang to a new level with turning one space into multifaceted levels. Femme fatale is ran by over 40 or more women owned businesses. They house under one roof artists, jewelry makers, skincare lines, food (traditional and vegan) and to top it off an in-house vintage boutique. They hold mostly activities and events featured towards women but do hold coed things regularly as well, everyone is welcomed!!!!! If you are a shy person get ready to have unicorn glitter sprinkled on you to make you come out of your shell when you come in. They are a few blocks from the metro and do have fairly convenient street metered parking but you must, pay attention to the signs and rules. The space is composed of 3 different buildings with the market place in front, art gallery space in middle and art lounge in back with outdoor patio. They have interactive installations through the whole space and wall to floor murals done by local dmv artists! Art is wired throughout the Soave from ceiling to floor and you won't wanna miss any opportunity to take selfies! Activities are held daily some free and others paid. What unique is a lot of times you get to meet the actual artist or womyn entrepreneur bosses in house as they are there regularly to manage their spaces. Great place if you are vegan to go because most of there menus when food is served is focused on that lifestyle! A great place to just come hang out and have a good time taking in all the artistic and positive women bawse vibes!
