The movers wrapped everything incredibly well including many large paintings etc. they didn't damage the house we left or the house we moved to or even 1 piece of our furniture! It was very hard to believe actually with the volume and size/weight of many of the items. My project was immediately responded to and they were able to help me move two weeks later on their soonest available date. The three movers, Pat, Renaldo, and Kevin were incredible. Communication leading up to the move and theday of was great. They were able to move all my large furniture within 2 hours. Everything was wrapped carefully and efficiently. They were kind and thoughtful, helping me make adjustments to the furniture layout once we got to the destination. Their positivity through one of the hardest situations I've ever gone through was much-needed and made me feel confident in entering this next chapter. I even had a last minute change to the destination (originally everything was going into storage but I ended up finding an apartment just in time), and the professionalism and patience from the entire Bookstore team through this change was excellent. Pricing was reasonable yet again and came out to about $500 (excluding tip) for the truck fee and moving of 16 large items. Thank you Bookstore Movers for helping me when I needed it most!

We had a dedicated elevator, yet workers often brought items down only one or two at a time. I also saw team members on their phones or standing around in rooms and hallways instead of actively moving things. These delays added up quickly. The crew also misplaced parts of our bed frame, and the pieces had to be found before it could be reassembled. That alone added nearly an hour to the move. Because the move took much longer than expected, the final cost was significantly higher than the estimate we received. We were also charged based on an arrival time that was recorded as ten minutes earlier than when the crew actually arrived. The team was courteous, but given the inefficiency, added time, and higher final price, we would not use Bookstore Movers again. This is unfortunate, because we had been happy with them in previous moves.

They even went above and beyond in disposing of an old piece of furniture that we ran out of room to store. I have also had past moves with them that were very short notice and small. In turn, IMRG hired Zip Van Lines to move us from Louisiana to Michigan. They used a bait and switch tactic to draw us in. The first estimate was within our budget. Right before the movers arrived, they bumped the price up by 50%. It was too late to cancel then. All of my family had passed away. I raised money for the move by selling off their furniture and other belongings. These companies drained our savings. We couldn't pay the final charge at delivery. They put our belongings in storage and refuse to deliver them. They have my family photos and their military funeral flags. I've been in talks with them, they have one lie after another. The load pictures show that our load was much less than they claim, they actually owe us a refund. They still claim the load was larger. Zip Van Lines falsified the Bill of Lading and now they are lying about the size of our load. They are even claiming that the truck holds 1952 cubic feet of space, but there's no evidence that Zip has a truck of that size! These companies are scammers and I advise staying far from them! They're holding our goods hostage and our evidence shows it as theft and the money they demand is extortion. DO NOT HIRE EITHER OF THESE COMPANIES!!!

As someone who takes faith seriously, I find that deeply offensive given how this company actually conducts business. There is absolutely nothing about my experience that reflects honesty, integrity, or accountability--values that are foundational to Christianity. Using faith as a marketing tool while operating like this is misleading at best. After my move, multiple items were lost and damaged. I went through their claims process in good faith and ultimately signed a settlement agreement for $1,549. The company confirmed in writing that payment would be processed within 3-4 weeks. It has now been over nine weeks, and I have received no payment and no meaningful communication. At this point, I've had to escalate the situation beyond the company itself. I am in active discussions with the Fort Belvoir transportation office, and this company's handling of claims and failure to pay is being reviewed in the context of their eligibility to continue handling military PCS moves. Service members and their families deserve far better than this. Let me be clear: this is no longer about the money. It is about principle. A company that signs a settlement agreement and then ignores it is not operating in good faith. If this is not resolved immediately, I will be pursuing legal action for breach of contract. If you are considering using this company--especially for a military move--I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere. There are plenty of companies that will treat you with honesty and respect. This is not one of them.

So after receiving a few quotes from a handful of businesses, I went with Potomac Moving due to the speed of their response, clarity in communication, pricing and overall warmth and professionalism. In our first phone call to walk though my needs, they were very assuring and accommodating, which is a such a relief in the midst of stress and coordination that comes with planning for a move. They were also always very responsive in the few times that I reached out between the time I paid the deposit and the actual move. A night or two before, I sent at email regarding wardrobe boxes, since I was debating whether or not I should buy and have a few delivered to me. The owner responded quickly, assuring me that wardrobe boxes were tried, true and if I wanted to buy any directly from them that I could. That ended up being a great call, because they were able to properly enforce the boxes so that even the boxes filled with my heaviest coats remained in tact. On the day of the move, the movers were communicative regarding their arrival time. They were also very nice and hard working. I had a few large furniture items that needed to be disassembled and they ended up being quite beasts to tackle. But they worked diligently to break them down. Once it came time to move things to my new place, that was a breeze. One gesture that I thought was just so classy, was the owner called in the middle of the move to check-in on how things were going - I really appreciated that. Overall, would definitely recommend PMC - they're easy to work with, fair and transparent about pricing and you're sure to be met with professionalism!
