I made an appointment with Dr. Andersen (as a first time patient and new to Baltimore) mostly through the strength of these Yelp reviews and also because I wanted a woman dentist. I was terribly surprised when another dentist, a man, was the one that I saw. He evaluated my teeth and cleaned them with an assistant present. While I sat there, mouth agape, I got to listen to the dentist talk about patients who cheap out and go to lesser dentists then come back to him to fix the problems encountered with cheap work. I wish I would have left the office at the beginning... More recently, I've been getting an unbelievable number of text reminders that my cleaning appointment is approaching. When I get there, I am told that Dr. Andersen is out of the office due to an unexpected situation and if it would be okay to proceed with just the dental hygienist. I can't remember her name (maybe Amanda?) but she did a good job, meaning it didn't hurt, because how else can I tell? I made my next cleaning appointment on my way out. It's really great to finally find a family dentist that's good! I received a flyer for their grand opening and scheduled appointments for me, my husband, and our 2 year old son. The office was very nice and so was the staff. Dr. Andersen was very good with our son, who doesn't usually let strangers touch him. She fixed one of my fillings that another dentist had messed up, and multiple fillings for my husband. She did really great work, and it was the most pleasant experience i have ever had going to a dentist, which means a lot since I've had a million fillings done in my life. my visit to fells dental was disappointing. the beautiful building is in a hip location and i was checked in with an iPad -- how cool! the staff was welcoming and friendly. the disappointing part of my experience was my interaction with the dentist. my expectations are high: as a patient, i want a doctor who is interested in my comfort, cares about the time i've spent coming in and gives me options. my first appt was for a cleaning only (i had made this clear when i called to make the appt). upon mtg the dentist, i was told that i should get X-rays b/c my records showed that my last X-Ray was almost a year ago. i asked to opt out (in 3 diff ways) but i was told that i couldn't get a cleaning without an X-Ray b/c "it is against the law in the state of maryland to do a teeth cleaning without an X-Ray". i didn't understand b/c it was known my last X-Ray was less than a year ago. my options were to reschedule (i had taken the time off work, come back again?) or i had "7 minutes" to have my California dentist e-mail my last X-Ray images over. the support staff there was nice enough to call my Cali dentist and they sent my images right over. i got the cleaning, but it was an overall uncomfortable experience. i felt that i was being pressured into being a "bill" vs a "patient". read more

The best dentist I have ever had. The office is super clean and modern and completely up to date. The front desk staff are always super helpful and accommodating and Dr. Anderson is fantastic, to the point, and extremely friendly and honest. I needed some caps/fillings fixed on my front teeth and she did an amazing job! The dental hygienist does the most thorough job cleaning and flossing your teeth that I almost feel guilty eating/drinking anything after! I was so lucky to find Dr. Anderson and her staff last weekend. My daughter is a student at Loyola and had an emergency. Ashley, the receptionist was amazing and the dentist called me directly as soon as my daughter was seen. Living in the NYC metropolitan area, I have never experienced such wonderful professionalism from a health care provider. Dr. Andersen is a kind and very competent dentist. I have a bit of dental phobia, and my experience in her beautiful office was easily the most reassuring and even relaxing dental appointment I've had. She cleaned my teeth and later filled four cavities. The experience was painless, and Dr. Andersen's chair side manner was excellent. Additionally, my sister is a recently graduated dentist (sadly living very far away), and when I saw her recently she confirmed that - in her opinion - Dr. Andersen does excellent work. After hearing my sister's recommendations for finding a dentist, I always look for young dentists who were recently trained and are using the most up to date techniques and tools. But after my experience at Fells Point Dental, I'm done looking! read more

I have been going here for over two years now. Before coming here I have had a lot of dental work from various dentists that simply didn't care. I've had work done on me without little explanation or a real plan. Some dentists were even accusatory, making me feel guilty for the state of my teeth even though I knew I was doing what I could. Overtime I've felt more and more fearful of going to the dentist and pretty much would have a minor anxiety attack before each visit, I knew it would always be painful and depending on the dentist they may or may not care if I was even comfortable in the dentist chair. I've had dentist and their assistants giving each other looks and rolling their eyes when I have complained of pain. By the time I moved to Baltimore I was sick of going from bad dentist to bad dentist so I searched for a dentist with good reviews and went from there. From my first visit I had a complete evaluation of my situation and Dr. Anderson started a treatment plan (that they printed out) with me to get me where I am today. Dr. Anderson, Samantha, Linda, Charlene and the rest of her staff have always been so welcoming. I never feel like I'm just another client, I feel like this is my little dental family. During my procedures Dr. Anderson always makes sure I'm completely numb even if it takes several injections, never making me feel like its a burden to keep coming back. In the beginning I was very anxious just anticipating the pain but it never came! I completely trust her which adds to my comfort and I usually I take mini naps during my procedures due to the comforting background music because I'm so relaxed. They use the newest technology to get things done, so procedures such as crowns take only two visits and barely a week in between. Even referrals to other periodontist, oral surgeons and endodontist I have been to have been just as accommodating. Which shows she has done her research to make sure they would show me the same standard of care as she does. Dental work is always expensive so dealing with insurance is never fun but Linda always works with me to make sure as much is covered as possible. She has no problem doing the research and gives me the whole picture. I don't have enough words to thank Fells Point Dental for the work they have done so far. I always tear up when I think of the contrast of how dentist have treated me in the past and the vast contrast to the care I receive now. I always refer them to all my friends that are trying to find a dentist in the area and I have never had any complaints. read more

As someone who has a deep loathing of dentists and dental offices in general, it became necessary for me to have some dental work done after relocating to the Baltimore area. It had been recommended by the University of Maryland's Dental School to check out some of the local dentists, and I came upon Fells Point Dental. I called, explained my dental situation (it had been some time since my last check-up), and was immediately scheduled to be seen by Dr. Andersen to set up a treatment plan, despite not having had a teeth cleaning or being a prior patient of record in this office. They allowed me to bring in my own x-rays, since I had recently had some taken at another facility, and they worked with me and my financial situation, as I did not have dental insurance. I was able to get all of my dental work done, in a series of three appointments, without too many scheduling issues. The appointments went very smoothly, and Dr. Andersen was very attentive to my concerns and anxiety about having dental work done. Dr. Andersen is truly a delight (interesting conversationalist and doesn't beat around the bush in talking about your dental health), and her assistant Jewel was wonderfully attentive to me, and extremely kind. There are only two things that I felt were less than ideal about Fells Point Dental, though one is a structural issue: First, sound REALLY carries in the office, so if you're having a conversation, perhaps one that you don't want shared with everyone, keep it down. I don't know how they would remedy this issue, as it's due to a lack of doors and insulation (old building that was renovated) but it did make it possible for me to hear everyone else's conversations. Secondly, the girls at the desk were delightful and helpful on the phone, but in person, their demeanor was cold and less than inviting. I'll chalk it up to having a bad day, but when I came in for my first appointment, it was off putting. As a caveat, it did improve at the next appointment. In the past ten years I had never been consistent with going to a dentist and after a traumatic injury involving my front teeth I was especially wary of going to a dentist. When my teeth started to hurt I thankfully found Dr. Michelle Anderson and she is by far the best dentist I have ever had. Dr. Michelle Anderson is incredibly caring and was understanding of the fact that I was terrified of even being in the dentist chair. Since the first time she ever had to numb my mouth for a procedure, she took her time with me explaining what she was doing to ease my concerns and anxiety. I have had to have a lot of work done in the past 9 months, (wisdom teeth removal, fillings, etc.) and will be having even more done in the future. I am so grateful to have found such a great dentist who truly cares about her patients and goes to great lengths to make sure you are comfortable while in her chair. I have recommended her to several friends who have felt the same way after going to her and I will continue to recommend Dr. Anderson! read more

Very pleased with the dental work and experience! I had a bit of a dental crisis on a Friday night and they were willing to see me first thing Saturday morning as a new patient. They were extraordinarily helpful and accommodating. Despite a full schedule, Michelle Andersen was willing to see me and do an unscheduled procedure that morning. I chose Fells Point Dental after reading great reviews and exploring their website. I moved to the city over a year ago and hadn't changed dentists because I had gone to another one in the county for years. I went to FPD for the first time a few weeks ago for a regular cleaning. This office books up fast, so I was happy that they found a spot for me in their schedule almost immediately. The office is located in beautiful Fells Point. The office layout is a mix of old Baltimore brick and high ceilings and modern decor and interior remodeling. It's very warm and inviting. The receptionist is competent and friendly. They check you in and check you out via a tablet. WAY TO GO PAPERLESS! I only waited about 5-10 minutes before going into my appointment. I didn't wait long in my room at all before the dental hygienist and Dr. Anderson came in. Dr. Anderson noticed an old fracture on one of my back teeth that I had been putting off fixing for years because it never bothered me and I didn't want to pay almost $1000 to get it crowned at my old dentist's office. Dr. Anderson took a more conservative approach and recommended I come back to fill it first, and see how that holds up. I appreciate more conservative doctors. It lets you know they have your best interest in mind and that they aren't tunnel visioned on profit. My teeth cleaning went smoothly and comfortably. I was able to scheduled my 6 month cleaning there in the room. Afterwards, I was able to go to receptionist and scheduled my filling, which I just got back from today. My filling went smoothly and comfortably as well. Dr. Anderson was wonderful at making me feel relaxed and checking to make sure I was okay throughout the process. Everyone who works in the office seems to get along. If you're looking for a new dentist, I HIGHLY recommend Fells Point Dental. Call soon though, because they book up fast--I understand why. I went to Fells Point Dental a few weeks ago and was sadly disappointed. The staff was NOT very friendly at all. The man at the front, Chris, had a very rude, stuck-up attitude and while talking to him I felt like I was getting on his nerves. I was sitting in a room waiting for the dentist to come in for 30 minutes, and when she did she was very condescending. The way she spoke to her employees was even terrible. She is very knowledgable about dentistry but could use a few pointers on how to be a decent human being. Sorry but I would not recommend this office. read more

I love fells point dental. First the office is lovely, old charm combined with modern decor. The doc is smart and clever. She's just a great find! Lastly, I have a rare connective tissue disorder and struggle with bleeding, bruising and general fragility. The entire staff is aware and very accommodating. I highly recommend it. I've had a lot of fillings in my adult life, and my experience recently at Fells Point Dental was the worst yet. I've only been twice- once for a cleaning, once for fillings. Everyone was friendly. The space was clean. The office was difficult to find because it's not visible from the street, and I don't drive, so I don't go into parking lots generally looking for doors. The patient intake forms were completely inaccessible. During my fillings, the dentist was distracted, often talking about what was going on around her, and what her next appointments were, referring to fillings as "boring". She made jokes about "drowning" me and waterboarding because I kept gagging up water, and blamed me for not breathing through my nose enough. Again, I've had a lot of fillings in my life- this was a first. The dentist also made some ableist comments about my disability. I spent the time while getting my fillings repeating the phrase "don't panic, don't panic", which is not in any way a common issue for me. I'll be finding a new practice. read more

Great office with very friendly staff! I have had a lot of dental work in the past and am alway a little nervous going to the dentist. They made me feel right at home and relaxed during my cleaning! He was very friendly and made me feel apart of their family! He referred me to this state of the art practice & it's really a gem of Fells Point! So let me start off with I NEVER leave reviews, I think this is my first. I just loved my service at Fells Point Dental so much I had to write a review. First off let me start off explaining that I am a daughter of a dental hygienist and I have never had dental insurance, nor have I ever really made my own dental appointments. I am also from Texas and that's where my mother lives. A month ago while visiting my family I got a cavity filled at my mothers work in Texas, and a few weeks later my tooth was really bothering me. I have allot of medial issues so I have to be super careful to avoid possible infections, so I had to find a dentist near by. A friend referred me to fells point dental. I had never been to a dentist that wasn't my mothers work before and I honestly figured I always felt so comfortable before just because I knew everyone, but WOW I feel like I had known everyone at Fells Point Dental for years. Everyone was so amazing and they were so understanding when I was late. Dr.Anderson made sure to fit me in even though I basically missed my appointment. I was also so impressed by her profound knowledge and education. My mom had worked for great dentists but Dr.Anderson was so compassionate and so so smart. She knew so much more then I even think she needed to know about my other medical issues. (She could of told me she was also a family physician and I wouldn't doubt her) Which made me feel so much more comfortable, since it gets tough for me to have to understand all of my own medical rules and such. I have decided I cant wait to get dental work in Texas anymore and I have to get some dental insurance and believe me I will be a Fells Point patient until I either move or Dr.Anderson does. read more

Such a fantastic experience! I needed a new dentist and found this place just around the corner. Dr. Anderson and her staff were extremely helpful and friendly throughout my entire visit. Dr. Anderson took extra time with me to answer all of my questions (of which I had many) and she even took time to really educate me on best dental hygiene practices and how exactly cavities and other problems form. The office is very cool from brand new dental technology, to ipads for patient information forms, to beautiful exposed brick and wooden columns adding great character. I asked some neighbors for recommendations and almost everyone recommended Fells Point Dental. I just had my first appointment yesterday and now I have no idea what I was so worried about! Everyone was SUPER friendly and made me very comfortable. Dr. Andersen seemed very knowledgeable and very sweet. I wasn't in there for very long even though it had been so long since my last appointment. I highly recommend Fells Point Dental. Another great experience with them sets them apart from other dentists. The night before leaving for my bachelorette party, I chipped my tooth. Very freaked out I went on their website and saw that they have a number that you can send text messages. I sent Dr. Anderson a text explaining my situation and she got back to me within a few minutes. Dr. A fit me in first thing the next day and my tooth was fixed.
