However, as it turned out my water heater type didn't need an expansion tank, but a pressure relief valve. The tech explained the problem very clearly, installed a pressure relief valve, and was even creative by installing a pressure gauge where the previous plumber incorrectly installed an expansion tank. He was the first person to respond to my request on Yelp and offered to come out and diagnose the issue but recommended that I call the manufacturer to see if it's still under warranty and find someone familiar with the brand. He spent several minutes talking with me and it felt like he was really trying to help me with the best possible solution--not just get my business. That's rare these days and if I ever do need to replace my system or get other work done, I will be calling them!
