I have gone to this place in the past to get my nails done with Kay, the manager, who was very sweet and did an all-around good job. I'll be the first to admit I'm super picky about my nails, so saying she does a great job says a lot. I wish I could say that of her other employees - that is what this review is based on. Today I was with Jenny and some other lady (didn't catch her name). I needed to get a no chip in a pinch because I had guests coming into town. I called about 10am and scheduled an appointment for noon. I ran in over on my lunch break. I arrived 5-10 minutes early for my appointment and both employees were with clients who were at the beginning of their appointments - one was a no chip and one a manicure, neither had polish on their nails yet. I was told it would just a be a minute, to pick a color, and wait. So I did. Unfortunately, I waited about 20 minutes past my appointment time before someone even saw me. They acted like this was normal. No apologies. Even then, I was sharing the two employees (Jenny filed/buffed and did my cuticles, the other did everything else) with their customers who were now being polished. Another customer had also arrived for an appointment, so they were now really busy and behind. Needless to say, they rushed through everything. My nails were filed down to the nub and filed so far on the sides that I can't even fix them, they look like claws. There is polish all over my cuticles, I tried to clean it off - it already ripped the polish on one of my nails (it's been 20 minutes....this service is supposed to last 2 weeks). Since I came over my lunch break, I had to skip the massage completely - but still had to pay the full price. Again no apologies. At the end of the day, I left with mangled, horribly painted nails (that I can't even remove because they're no chip) that I paid $40 for, didn't even get the full service, AND I was late back to work. I immediately called back once I got to my office and explained how unhappy I was. Jenny answered the phone. She blamed me and hung up on me. Needless to say I called back and asked that the manager called me. In the meantime, I have picked off my no chip. I know that is horrible for my nails but they are that bad. read more

I've been going to get pedicures here for awhile now. I tend to go on the weekdays nights when it's a little quieter so I can unwind and I'm never disappointed when I'm done! I absolutely LOVE the service here. The girls are fun to talk to, never rude and encourage me to stay as long as I'd like (and with those massages chairs I literally could stay for hours). I don't recommend going late, but they will accept all clients and stay even after they close to accommodate you. If you don't come here for the service at least come for the massage chairs! You will thank me later. read more

This is my favorite nail salon in the suburbs! They are very clean and detailed. Anytime I am in the suburbs and able to come here, I do. I don't have a preference because everyone I great. I get no chip manicures and have never had an issue. They always last 2-3 weeks, I highly recommend this place! read more

I have been going to Fedora Kate since they opened, actually followed Jenny from her previous high end salon. Let me tell you, this salon far surpasses the other one she worked at, massage chairs are awesome, the salon is immaculate and very pretty. The staff is very very nice, Jenny does an awesome job, I have had nails on sinc 1984 and these are the best ones ever I almost never have a broken nail unless I really do something serious to it. The polish always stays on and she is quick, I have gone to salons that I have sat in a chair for 1 1/2 hours, way to long for a fill. If you are looking for a great salon look no further this is the one. And make sure u get a pedi u will love the chairs. read more

Rey mixed reviews on this salon. I came in on a Sunday for a mani and pedi, just the regular cheapest one they have and paid $45, little pricey, but the girl who was doing my nails was taking her time and really doing her best work! The only hung I will comment on negatively is I wish the massage was longer. It literally was 3min for BOTH feet, bummer if you ask me. She was good at massaging to just wish it was longer. I have been getting pink and white done on my nails for a long time and it wasn't until I found the owner of this new shop that I was always happy with the results. Every time I leave I am completely satisfied. I have tried other inexpensive salons in the area and within a week my nails are lifting and look terrible. This is highly recommended!!! read more

DO NOT GET A MANICURE HERE! Never have I been treated so poorly. I came in for a manicure with a girlfriend (on a weekday - the place was empty). We asked to sit next to each other and the male nail tech rolled his eyes...um, okay? He rushed through my manicure and told me to move to the drying station. I asked if I could please dry next to my friend who was still getting her manicure and he insisted that I had to move (remember the place is empty!). The woman, who I think was the owner/manager, finally came over and said it would be okay for me to dry and wait for my friend. Eek. Not a pleasant experience...oh, and my nails looked horrible. No attention to detail. Get your manicures elsewhere if customer service and quality are important to you! It was...underwhelming. The chairs are the most comfortable I've been in, true. But, the actual Mani/pedi was mediocre, color selection was minimal and while my service only started a couple of minutes late, there were 7 women who all walked in saying they had 2 pm appointments...and there were only 4 techs working, who were already helping those of us who had 1 pm appts. I went there for a mani/pedi with a bridal group last week and the service was terrible. We waited for a 30 minutes with an appointment and one of our girls didn't even get started on until the rest of were done. Also, one of us accidentally dropped a bottle of nail polish when we were waiting and it shattered all over the floor. We were handed a roll of paper towels and acetone by the manager and told to clean it up because they were too busy. I also can't believe they charge $65 for a mani/pedi. If we didn't have Groupon's we would have gone elsewhere. I could go to a MUCH nicer place and spend that much. I've had a better mani/pedi at the cheapy $35 places in the city. Yesterday was my first time at fedora Kates, and Although the end product was very nice. She overcharged me by 10 dollars. I checked in the beginning before I walked in how much the grad total would be for the nail services I was given. it totaled $75, so when I went to pay and she told me it was $85 I was a but confused. I paid and left because I thought maybe I was wrong. I went back once in the care and she did over charge me needless to say I'm happy I didn't leave a tip because she obviously gave herself one included in the total. I went here because I bought a Groupon, and thought - why not try a new place? It said by apt only, so I made one for 10:15 with my mother. We showed up to find out that they only had one girl free to work on my mom, and left me sitting in cold water for 45 minutes while I watched others walk in late and get service right away!! Once the girl who I was scheduled with showed up to work, she was very rude about everything- she did not look like or act like she wanted to be there. The nail polish selection was small. The spa pedicure was good, but I've had better. I had to request someone to re-do my manicure b/c the polish didn't over my entire nail. Kate (the owner) re-did it and repeatedly apologized for the wait and having to have the manicure redone. I can appreciate that she did realize that I hasn't had the best experience. Sadly, I will not be coming back here again. I'll keep going to Orchard Nails in Lisle, which is about the same services for cheaper and from nicer people. read more

The first time I came here was to see Kay for a mani pedi, and I had a wonderful experience. The second time I came in I went to see Jessica for a manicure pedicure and I also had a wonderful experience. The third time I came here I had an appointment with Jenny for a manicure and pedicure. The pedicure came out just fine, however, my manicure looked horrible the next day. My nail polish is chipping and on two fingernails the polish peeled off completely. Besides that, she cut away too much of the cuticle and now I have hangnails. I would have given this place five stars except for my last experience. read more

Terrible! I made an appointment for my mother and I for manicure/ pedicure for 2pm on a Saturday. I was told that was the time they could accommodate us both at the same time. We got there right on time and saw that there were only two other clients - one getting a manicure and one a pedicure. I thought that was odd since we were told we could NOT be accommodated at 1pm....but, whatever. We were told to pick our color and wait....and we waited and waited. After about 15 minutes of waiting....still just those same two other clients at 215 on a Saturday....I asked when. They finally got us soaking in some lukewarm water at 225pm. Around 230, they were about to start on my mom while the woman who was getting a pedicure got her manicure started. The meant that I would have been waiting another 20 minutes or so for my pedicure to start. At that point, since we both were annoyed and had places we needed to be....hence the appointment.....we left with no services. A flurry of apologies followed and the explanation "sometimes we run behind." More like "we tried to squeeze in a walk in and hoped you would wait but it backfired." No wonder this place was empty. Avoid unless you have nothing better to do but wait for them to honor your appointment. read more

Very disappointed in this nail salon. The first strike was back in March when I made mani/pedi appointments for my mom, sister, and I on my mom's birthday. In the time it took for one technician to do my mom's pedicure another technician did both mine and my sister's pedicures. Which means we obviously did not get thorough pedis. Then at the end of my manicure I noticed that all of my nails were full of bubbles. The woman offered to redo all the nails but I didn't have the time for that. Then on 5/31, the day before my wedding I made a group appointment for me and 7 other people to get our nails done for my wedding. I made sure to ask and confirm with the lady I spoke to that they had the staff to accommodate a group of that size. I was assured that they did. The appointment was at 1:30, we got started at about 2. By 3:30 they had not even started working on my mom or my aunt. As you can imagine the day before a wedding there are a lot of loose ends to tie up and that was 2 hours that were wasted, on top of the time it then took to get their nails done. Then my cousin also ended up sitting around because she had them stop her manicure so they could get started on mine so I would be done earlier. This was meant to be a relaxing time of pampering for myself, my bridesmaids, and some family and it turned into more of a stressful event. I got a no chip manicure which is supposed to last about 2 weeks. After a little over 1 week I had a lot of tip wear and then the polish peeled off of one whole nail so I was walking around with one unpainted nail. I also know that you have to have the polish specially taken off, by the end of 2 weeks I was able to quickly peel the polish off the rest of my nails. Very disappointing, especially when they knew this was my manicure and pedicure for my wedding and honeymoon. read more

I walked in without an appointment on a Tuesday around 5pm. I was greeted right away by Jenny, who was very polite about the fact that there would be a wait. Only Jenny and Kay were working that night. Now, I've never been here before. I was simply hoping to get a botched set of gel overlays that were done somewhere else fixed before they could cause serious damage to my nails. Busy, with appointments expected to show up, they still fit me in. The polish selection is a little limited compared to larger salons but I found it adequate. Every color in the spectrum had multiple choices and they were grouped together, which I liked. The salon was clean and elegant. I liked that Kay and Jenny seemed to know their clients very well, I listened to them on the phone and with clients a bit. They asked questions that only a tech who actually *knows* their client would ask. Jenny evaluated my nails and the damage the last set had done and she took steps to make sure this set works out better. When her appointment arrived, she passed me over to Kay to polish my nails. This didn't bother me because, as I said, I was a walk-in. Kay did a meticulous job on the polish, I mean, really. She made sure the color was applied perfectly and that the free edge was painted over the gel. Their prices were very reasonable - actually a few dollars below the average that I've been paying. We'll see how the overlays hold up, but for service and friendliness, as well as the professional and technical aspects of my nail job, I give this place a HUGE thumbs up. I would recommend making an appointment though because this isn't one of those salons where there are 50 techs working who will never remember your name. read more
