Time & time again we've had bulls**t service - ghost delivery attempts, delivering my package to the WRONG address, delivery exceptions for whatever reason. When we complained to this location about how we never received the notice they left (because it went to the wrong address), the workers at this location had the audacity to be rude & obnoxious. When they were the ones who made the error!! Imagine that!!! Even the website is full of BS. I opted for pick up after a "delivery exception" and it time stamped it to be earlier than the delivery exception. How brilliant of you to screw your customer Fedex!!! Just like everyone else stated. I was desperately waiting for a package to be delivered yesterday and no one ever showed up. I checked the status online every 30 minutes and noticed an update stating 'customer not available or business is closed'. There were several people home and no one heard the door bell ring or a knock! I was furious and called customer service where they said I can go to Maspeth from Bayside to pick up. Inconvenient, no regard for your time and waste of money to have an item shipped via FedEx when in the end you have to drive out and pick it up. FedEx get it together! When I told her my ID didn't match the package because it was a work address she laughed at me and said "well that's gonna be a problem". Additionally when I mentioned that the driver left a door tag but never attempted to ring the bell she simply said "that's impossible". She was wildly rude and provided no guidance advice or assistance. This is a terrible location and I have had the worst consumer experience of my life. And I asked her how long it would take she told me it would take 2-3 days. Oh , my God, I got the return stuff to my address yesterday. Now that I've actually quested forth to the Maspeth center, I feel duty-bound to update my prior review. And actually, the star rating remains the same. I must've gotten very, very lucky. Well, I was not fortunate in that I needed to go to Maspeth at all before my package was returned to Thailand, but fortunate in that I was in and out in five minutes flat. There was one other person in the place at 4pm on a Monday. The lady at the counter was very courteous, and my California driver's license was ID enough. I suppose the moral of the story is: Try to go when you suspect it'll be the least busy, and you'll be fine. read more

Worst service ever!!!!! I'm so mad at them! My sender payed for a 2-day delivery on a Thursday. On Saturday I was expecting the package and it didn't arrived. I called and they said it was delayed and I had to wait until Monday because they are close on Sunday. It told them I had left a note for them to leave the package because I wasn't going to be home on Monday. The lady said it was fine and she would put the request.They told me that the package would arrive on Monday before 4:30 pm. This building has no ring bell, so if you need by any reason to contact me here is my cel number .... Thanks.. My signature I came back home Monday night, and the package wasn't there. Not only that but there wasn't even a tag or anything to sign. I tracked the package and I saw an attempt of delivery at 3 pm. Didn't the driver see the note on the mailbox?? He didn't even called. I called again and told them to put it on hold and that I would pick the package tomorrow, they said that was fine. The next day (today) I went in the morning to the office, and the lady tells me the package is not there and that the driver must have missed the request and put it on the truck, and that there was nothing she could do! Usually use UPS and they're solid, but this time a shipment went FEDEX and I discovered the two are definitely not the same deal in Queens. The tracking log says the driver left it at the door at 10:30am. I call BS - I was there the whole time and it never came. The next item in the log says the shipment was picked up again at 6:30pm and sent back to sender. That doesn't make any sense! OK, but stuff happens. I called them to find out what happened. The first guy says "maybe he went to the wrong address. I'll try and contact the driver and get back to you in the next 2 hours." The call comes and it's some guy telling me what I already know. "Yes, I know it went back to sender, you can't tell me what happened? "Maybe we can talk to the driver." Good idea. I hold and a woman comes on. It's a woman at the "HTOA" office in Jamaica, who seems to know even less that the earlier two. Can I talk to a supervisor? Nope "he's busy". No one seems interested in talking to the driver to find out what happened. Nobody wants to find an explanation for why my package was returned. The best they can do: "Contact the shipper to have them resend it." It's not the mistake...we all make mistakes. It's the apathy and run around and total lack of interest in correcting anything. After reading all the negative comments, I felt I needed to leave my feedback, which was POSITIVE, as I had to go through my own experience today. I was annoyed at the fact that I received 2, not 3 slips, saying that FEDEX attempted to deliver my package, and since there were '3' attempts, the package will now be placed at location to pick up. I was even more annoyed that the location chosen was not convenient for me at all, especially since there were locations that were walking distance, or 10 minutes away by train that could've been chosen. Fortunate for me, I have a brain, so I did the research on how to get to the location, and planned in advance. I called FEDEX today to CONFIRM that my package was definitely at the location since I intend on picking it up today. The caller said that it is at the location, so I was hoping for the best that it was and there was no miscommunication on FEDEX's end. As I was preparing to head out, I received a call from the FEDEX location. A lady with an accent called and confirmed with me that the package is at the location and is ready for me to pick up. I wasn't expecting a call, so I guess it was cool to see that they were at least letting me know. I began the journey, choosing to take the Q39 bus. It wasn't such a bad ride. Fortunately for me again, I have a smartphone, so I was able to keep track with Google Maps to make sure I'm going the right way, and get off at the right location. I get off the bus, walk a few blocks, and before I knew it, I was at the location. While I was fortunate enough to get here conveniently, I'm going to admit that if I didn't have a smartphone, I would be PISSED because this place is in the middle of nowhere, and I'm not going to expect people who aren't savvy or have the technology to find this place as easy as I did. I would've been even more pissed if I had to take a cab and pay big money like some reviewers did. I get to the location, random entrance, creepy staircase up the location, go inside, and it's just 1 lady, and about 5 customers. Now I know why people were upset when they had to pick up their package, or drop off packages, etc. HOWEVER, I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt because I know what it's like to work by myself, and deal with impatient customers. Not to mention impatient customers that don't know what they're doing or don't know what they want/need. I can also see why people may have perceived the lady who was working there to be rude, or at least I assume the lady who I dealt with is the one that others dealt with. I'm also going to assume that her name was Regina, but I can't confirm because I didn't ask for her name or look at her name tag. I assume that because that is the name of the manager of the location. 'Regina' has an accent and is a little spunky/sarcastic, but I'm ok with that, because I got smart with her first. Basically, if you don't want to be spoken to rudely, don't be rude first. Have respect. Also, if you can't take sarcasm, they you're probably going to hate coming here and dealing with her. After I provided my information, she gave me the package, checked my ID, asked that I sign for approval, thanked me, and that was that. Overall, the process took almost 30 minutes, due to it being 1 worker versus 5+ of us. This is the worst Fedex location on earth. They "mis-sort" packages, fabricate delivery delays, do not even attempt deliveries and pick up (I waited by the door for an entire day with no sign of a Fedex truck), create fake delivery exemptions, and state your building is closed when it is open 24/7. Since figuring this out, I have actively tried to NOT use Fedex when shipping packages to NYC. This place is a nightmare and should be shut down. read more

I was getting a delivery from Apple Inc. that required a signature. I saw from the tracking number that it was going to be delivered on a Monday, a holiday that I actually had off from work so I said perfect, I can wait at home for my package. I waited and waited and finally saw the FedEx truck a few doors up from my house. I watched him drop a package off to my neighbor and then SAW THE TRUCK DRIVE RIGHT BY MY APARTMENT WITHOUT DROPPING OFF MY PACKAGE. I thought maybe they have different drivers but a few minutes later, I checked my tracking number online and it said I WAS NOT HOME. WHAT THE HECK!! He didn't even leave a door tag so I know he didn't even try. I called them and they said they would try to get in touch with the driver to have him come back. He never showed up again and I wasted a perfectly good holiday off from work doing nothing. The driver supposedly came back two more times and left a door tag but of course no one was home. I pleaded and yelled at them on the phone to have him try again since the first try was not a real try and they could not do anything for me. I had to go to Maspeth to pick up this damn package. I get to Maspeth where i had been once before and I am told I am in the wrong location, that my package is FedEx ground and I have to go to a different warehouse. I am so annoyed at this point. The woman at FedEx asks if I have a car, I said NO and she gives me directions and then tells me that its good I am going in day light because "it gets a little lonely over there." Great. Thanks. After walking for about 30 MINUTES, I get to the FedEx ground site and I am told I need to show proof of address for the address on the package. My license still has my old address on it so now I am freaking out, thinking they won't give me my damn package after all this. THANK THE LORD UP ABOVE, I had a Bed Bath and Beyond coupon with my address on it in my wallet which was sufficient ID for them. I finally got my package and made the long haul back to the bus stop. I spent over $100 having a package shipped to Jackson Heights. This package made it from Mexico to the Maspeth location in 3 days. It has been sitting in the Maspeth location for 5 days. The website regularly reports that it has been sent out for delivery. However, the package is never delivered. The Maspeth location has chosen to list their phone number as the main 800 number for UPS - a call center location whose information is limited to the same tracking information available online, and is therefore generally useless. It was only through finding phone numbers posted by customers in their customer complaints that I was able to get a phone number for this location (FYI it's (718) 706-3099 and (718) 706-3143). One rep at that location told me that there was a system error and that the system was listing my package as being out for delivery although it wasn't. Following this call, some of the entries were deleted from the system. Another rep told me today that the package has been left behind many times, but that going to the location to pick up the package was not an option because it is "impossible" to know where it is. He would not commit that the package would go out for delivery tomorrow, or when the package would go out for delivery at all. So there is no accountability, no information, and absolutely no one taking any initiative to resolve this. If I did my job this poorly, I would be fired. read more

On May 2, 2008 I ordered a new phone through my carrier and had it shipped to my house in Jackson Heights, NY, a suburb of Queens. As many might not expect, Queens is a pretty difficult part of NYC to get through if one does not have a car. On May 5 upon discovering that FedEx was unable to deliver and leave the package at my home address without a signature, they left a door tag. When i got home i read the door tag which stated that I needed to travel to a receiving location across the borough of Queens to pick up my package. After reading this i immediately called 1-800-GOFEDEX, and they assured me that my package could and would be delivered to a location a few blocks away from my house (which as a matter of principal, they should have done in the first place but i digress) as of the next day May 6, 2008. Not only would they do me that "convenience" they would also notify me via telephone and email when my package would be delivered so i could come and pick it up. They did neither. I called later in the day to inquire on the status of delivery and the operator informed me that not only did they not put a forwarding address and number to call, but yet again it was back on the truck to be delivered. FedEx only delivers 3 times and then returns it to the sender, which would have been a nightmare. So i decide to suck it up and make the trek to the Maspeth location. Upon arrival I was never greeted, and rudely asked, "What do you need?" I handed the woman my ID and the Door Tag. I stated that i had a package i needed to pick up. The woman promptly pointed the sign that read, "Customers Must Present Proof of ID and Verification of Address". Then she yelled, "Next Customer".. I couldn't believe what i was hearing and reminded her who was the customer in the situation to which she responded, "I don't give a SHIT if you are the customer or not, im not gonna be attacked by customers today, no i won't". Finally i asked to speak with the manager and received not only the same attitude, but this statement, "Unfortunately it is what it is. The policy between AT&T and our company is that we can't give you the package until you show us a bill with your address. You'll have to call them and work that out otherwise." I asked him if he could show me such policy that he was quoting, and he said that it could be found at FedEx headquarters. I also told him that if it was of such GREAT IMPORTANCE that I need proof of address that they HAD TO HANG A SIGN, why was he unable to relinquish the FedEx/consumer policy he was attempting to pawn off on me? To which he responded, "Look, there's nothing i can do God Dammit, now if you have any other questions call the customer service line, NEXT CUSTOMER". Furious, irritated, and feeling hopeless, I asked for the first employees name, his name and email, and his district manager's information and all i got was his business card and a grin. COMPLETE NIGHTMARE. I will never go back, and now due to the fact that i will be at work when they come for the "FINAL DELIVERY" tomorrow i am forced to take off time from work just so i can get my package. This place is nearly impossible to find (its like a few hundred feet back from the main road and unmarked) and is surrounded in razor wire. When you do get there, you have to park under the tree because they dont allow you to park in the spots for cars and wait at the guard station. The employees are rude and lazy. I dont get Fedex in NYC anymore for fear that I may miss the package and have to go to this terrible place. By contrast, the UPS pickup is much nicer (and, frankly so are the other Fedex pickups I've been to everywhere but here). Package that was supposed to be delivered to my home at 10:30am labeled priority overnight was delivered at 2:45pm 4 hours late - unacceptable. When I called the fedex 1800 number at 12:30pm the agent did not have an ETA on when the driver will come and bring my package that was supposed to be delivered at 1030am. The agent called the maspeth depot as there was no direct number on the website - and apparently the manager of the depot said there was traffic and there is going to be delays 3 hour delays on deliveries. That's BS. From maspeth to wood side is a 10m drive ! It's impossible to get caught up in traffic for 4 hours when the drive is local 10 minutes top!!!! I am blown away by the number of complaints about FedEx. I thought it was just a few people who had the problem with delivery drivers who were sloppy and just plain lazy. Last week I purchased an animal carrier on Ebay and the seller notified me that they would be using FedEx. I was a little apprehensive because FedEx delivery drivers had a habit of leaving packages in front of my apartment door without knocking or ringing the doorbell. I would get a little annoyed but I never complained. This week things were different. I waited at home all day for my animal carrier so I could take my dog to the vet. I would periodically track my package online and the message said that my package would be delivered by 8pm. When 8pm came and went and I still hadn't received my package I didn't make a big deal about it. I just figured they would just leave it (they never knock or ring my bell) the next day. At 11pm that night something told me to check the FedEx tracking number and I discovered the delivery driver claimed the package was delivered at my front door. I checked and I didn't see my package anywhere. I had a bad feeling that the FedEx driver must have left my package downstairs in the lobby. When my son checked my package was there sitting on the table where anyone could have walked off with it. Needless to say, I was furious. I was home all day waiting and making sure to listen for the delivery driver and he couldn't even bother to take the elevator to the 5th floor and bring me my package??!! I thank God that this was only a 40 dollar animal carrier and not a computer or printer or any other expensive item that I usually order from Ebay. From now on, when I shop there I am going to ask the seller if they use FedEx. If they do and refuse to use UPS or USPS then I will NOT purchase the item. I wish it was possible to give this FedEx zero stars. The delivery people are the worst. I was tracking my package for 8 hours only to see a "delivery exception". I was home the entire time and no one rang my door bell. I even taped a large sign marked for FedEx and the buzzer to press at the front door. All I got was a door tag claiming they made an "attempt" at delivery. If you know your package is coming from the Maspeth, your best bet is to call the 1-800 FedEx number and request they hold your package at the Ship Center. Otherwise they will try to fake or "attempt" a delivery and fail, and you wind up going to Maspeth anyway. This is the normal business practice for this site because this happened to me THREE TIMES already. They do NOT care about you ever getting your package. read more

So my son was expecting an important 2-day Fedex containing tickets to a concert the following night. When it didn't show up, he checked tracking to find out that they claimed they attempted delivery but no one was home. In fact, I'd been home all day and there was no doortag on our door. When he clicked on the link to find directions to the Maspeth location, the computer gave a starting point two blocks away. So apparently they had brought the package to the wrong house. After reading other Yelp reviews, I was very worried about going to Maspeth and was almost ready to give up hope of ever getting those tickets. My son has no valid government-issued photo ID, we moved recently and don't have much proof of address, and if they have the wrong address anyway, how will we ever prove it? And I really didn't look forward to being berated and given the run-around by obnoxious staff the way other yelpers have been treated. So I drove out to Maspeth with some trepidation. Google maps sent me to the truck delivery entrance, but you really have to stay on Grand Ave. for the customer entrance. To my surprise, it was well marked by a sign, and after a brief climb through a clean stairway we found ourselves in a well-lit, nearly empty office with an employee behind the desk. After a very brief wait for her to finish up with the customer in front of me, we were ready. Boy, was I in for a surprise! She was friendly and helpful. She took my son's school ID even though it had no address and even though it had a slightly different spelling of his name. No need for passports and utility bills! At the end, she wished us a great day. For customer service at this center alone, I would give the place 5 stars. So why only two? Because it was their job to get my package to my house on time and in that regard they failed miserably, requiring me to make a 10-mile roundtrip to Maspeth in the snow, totally unnecessarily. They got one digit in my address wrong instead of checking thoroughly. I'm sure the previous yelpers who had hellish experiences at this place were accurate in their descriptions. I just wanted to report that the place has improved a lot, and apparently, the nasty people they dealt with have been relieved of their positions. read more
