My card was recently compromised and the bank informed me I would not need to update automatic payments with the new card number. The location called me for the first time on Aug 9 that payment was late. (NO earlier calls as they claimed). I immediately went and paid it in person but they refused to waive the late fee. Considering I was paying automatically and the circumstances for the late payment, I felt the 'Excellent Customer Service' that Smart Stop promotes on their website, was in fact not provided. This was a one-time issue regarding a missed payment, and not a repeat issue. I pay all of my bills automatically and in full each month. I have 800+ credit and this was a corporate card paying for the unit. LaLa was the manager on site at this location who refused to waive the $16 fee and risk losing my business altogether. Sometimes mistakes happen, but I immediately rectified it as soon as I was contacted. Very disappointing customer service.

I have been renting here since July of 2023. I originally secured this storage because they were…read morerunning a great rate for a 10x20 drive up storage unit. It was priced at $170.00. My mom had recently passed away so i even condenced her storage and put it in with my things as we were to be homeless for a few months waiting for our new place to give us keys. After 4 months the rate increased almost $100. They provide little to no warning about this. I would have never taken my things there had i known that the "good deal" that they advertized was so incredibly short lived. I am terminally ill and am physically unable to move out of there. Since then my rate has gone up every 6 months. It is now 381.00. Yet new customers are stil able to rent my same spot for less than $200. In addition to their price gouging, my unit was broken into. I had a bunch of family airlooms stolen. We caught the break in with in 48 hours of it happening yet they have zero survailence footage of my unit getting robbed. Their insurance that is mantatory extra $15.00 is a joke. It covers nothing. I am so pissed i am at a complete loss yet i still pay them religiously every month because im not about to loose my things that mean so very much. This place is jacked up. They took advantage of me. My husband's coworker had previously worked for Square Cow and recommended them. We are so glad he did! The entire process was easy and went smoothly. They gave an estimate and that's exactly what we paid, no surprises. The movers put our stuff on one truck and drove directly to CO, no other moves, just ours, door to door. They took their time carefully wrapping our furniture to ensure no damages, and everything was delivered perfectly intact. No scratches, nothing- everything just as we sent it. The movers were super friendly and respectful. They showed up on time and everything was well-communicated. We will definitely use them if we move in the future and give them our highest recommendation. It's hard to find customer service this good, they are really on top of their game!
