Ok, the reviews of this restaurant were not fair and accurate of this establishment. The ambiance was right of a Goodfellas scene. It was clean and the service was fantastic. Our waiter was attentive and helpful with suggestions. We ordered the spaghetti, chicken parmesan, and canneloni. Everything came out hot and delicious. The sauce was a rich marinara. Simple and perfect! The salads were fresh and Italian dressing was yummy. Oh, the garlic bread was so good. Buttered, fresh garlic and toasted made it fantastic! Simply a delicious meal! Thank you! I adore this place. One of the very few locally owned eateries in Charleston.. Family owned and run for over 50 years. From the retro furnishings, celebrity autographed pictures and family mementos this beloved landmark is the place for excellent food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. This was our first time to Charleston and based upon a recommendation, had dinner at Fazio's. We were seated within a few minutes and promptly received crackers and pimento cheese spread, which brought back great memories for my Sicilian wife. The fried ravioli and minestrone soup very well prepared. Being from California, we were also quiet pleased with the nice selection of wines. I had the Veal Marsala - excellent! And my wife had the beef filet - exceptionally good, and would easily compete with many steak houses! Fantastic! We were so happy to find this family spot, and happy it was open for our late dinner. Our server was great. Cadie was fun, suggested all the right dishes, and attended to our every need. Two of us had the fresh veal prepared parmigiana style with spaghetti, and others had baked lasagna with fresh noodles that melted in your mouth and topped with meat sauce. To begin, the site claims appropriate attire is required, year many guests were wearing sweatshirts and t-shirts. We walked in at 6:15 on a Saturday evening and were seated immediately. They have more than enough waitstaff which was fantastic, our waitress did an amazing job! The acoustics are really off though, my fiance and I couldn't really hear each other. The food was good, my fiance's steak was cooked absolutely perfectly. I had the seafood fettuccine in wine sauce with clam strips, shrimp and crab meat. My only complaint is that for the $28.75 price tag, the portions are quite small. Thwre were plenty of the clam strips, but i may have missed the crab meat because i didn't see any, and it only comes with 3 shrimp. I'm a person who always has leftovers but I managed to finish my entire meal AND a piece of Cheesecake, which was fantastic with strawberry sauce. Side note, the garlic bread is also fantastic. Last thing, no thanks to having celery in my salad any in my fettuccine, not sure why that was there. read more

Recently went here for my first time ever (I know, wtf right?) for my birthday. Our server was so friendly and had a great personality and took great care of us. The filet was sooo good. I was a little bummed they ran out of baked potatoes by 7pm on a Tuesday. I got a side of the manicotti to try. I expected it to taste better but it was still good. Tiramisu was delicious. My daughter and I enjoyed this lovely restaurant with a great vibe. Even better than the surroundings was the staff. Everyone that we interacted with seemed happy to be there and it showed! You know what was even better than the staff? THE FOOD! The waitress recommend the filet to me and it was the best steak I've had in a L O N G time. My daughter had the salmon and was so impressed by the food that she proudly told our waitress she was going to "give this place 5 stars!" Since she is 7 and likes to tell poop jokes still, I thought it was better I penned the review. If you go here, make sure to take home the bread. It is amazing in the air fryer later when you are eating your leftovers! Our waitress gave us that tip. I think the only drawback I could find was the location. The location is great, don't get me wrong! I'm just sad that I live in MI and will only be able to enjoy this place again if we do another road trip. My husband and I just tried this place for the first time. The atmosphere is very appropriate. Nice music playing overhead. Good service from Curtis and the food was very good. I have eaten at this restaurant several times. Each time the staff got more hateful. The seating host is terrible. We had an extra person come with us and it was such a burden for her. She wouldn't allow us to be seated when we didn't have 2 people in our party present. I could have been drinking wine with my friends while I waited. Then when we were seated they took the placemat out from in front of my friend who is black. Finally they returned with a placemat. We won't be back anymore. My apologies to the locals that love this place but it stinks. All of the poorly-prepared and poorly-served food is further diminished by an overly-sweet tomato sauce (tons of sugar, diabetics beware). I had an antipasto salad which was iceberg lettuce with salami, pepperoni, and a slice of cheese! Aren't there any Italians in Charleston to guide these people? I am obviously an "out of towner with stuck up palate" because I think this place shouldn't call itself an Italian restaurant. I've been eating at Fazio's since I was literally two weeks old. My grandmother loves to tell people how I ate spaghetti sauce off of her finger the first time they took me there. That was twenty eight years ago, and I still love that place just as much as I ever have. In twenty eight years I've never had a bad meal there, and I've never had bad service. I haven't been to any other restaurant with that kind of track record. Their spaghetti is the best you'll ever have. I've eaten spaghetti all over the country, and never once have I had any that comes close to being as good as Fazio's. Their steaks are also incredible. Their filet mignon is always amazing. By far the best in the Charleston area. I would recommend Fazio's over any resaurant in Charleston, and over any other Italian restaurant in the country. I called tonight at 9 PM to find out how to place an order to send a plate to some bereaved friends in the area. "We're closed!" "May I call back tomorrow?" "We're going on vacation!" Now, it's OK to close, although 9 seems a bit early, and vacations are OK, especially in the summer for a family business. But I really didn't take too kindly to being yelled at for having the effrontery to try to do business with them. But clearly they need the vacation more than my custom, so I guess it's a good move to refuse my request. Eventually they'll return and you can then get some very ordinary red-sauce Italian. I'm not going back, so you can have my seat (or place in line, with reservation) and make up your mind for yourself. Note that most of the positive reviews are from the regulars; I'd suggest that maybe there's some signal there; it's a pretty sure thing that the three stars are not from Michelin, or Mobil or AAA, for that matter, with all due respect to the self-proclaimed globetrotters. Key quote from one of the fans: "I don't go to this Italian restaurant for the Italian food." That says it all. read more

Last time I went (and it is the very last time I'll ever go) the dining experience took more than 3 hours, and not by my option. When we went to pay our bill, we'd been overcharged by nearly $30! They ended up fixing it, but I'm not going back. In reality I'd really like to give this place 2.5 stars because 3 is too high and 2 is a bit low. If you are in any kind of a hurry, this is not the dining establishment for you. The service is probably the slowest of any restaurant I've ever been to. The food was a bit overpriced and nothing beyond average at least for the pasta my wife and I had. It's all in the gravy and theirs was ok but not great. The garlic bread they bring is good and plentiful. Salad was good and homemade Thousand Island just right. As far as attire I saw everything from people in shorts to old ladies dressed up as if they were going to church. Definitely make a reservation if dining on a Friday or Saturday night. The interior is dated as other reviewers have said but I think it gives the place character. Nothing wrong with tradition. My main complaint is with the service. Also, they'll add 20% to your bill when you receive it regardless of how large your party is. If you get Dustin as your waiter, you could be in for an adventure... This is one of those places that has been around for generations and has a LOT of regulars. I think if you're from Charleston, you might mistake this for really great Italian but if you've been to enough other areas of the country you probably won't be wowed. I would try it again because I've heard good things about their steak. I just won't make any immediate plans for after dinner. read more

They seem to have been caught in the late 70's it's dark and not very inviting dark carpet(?) paneling and lighting. It is so unfortunate because of the reputation they had for years. There's not many restaurants like Fazios. It's so stuck in time -- and I mean that in a good way -- it has become a true classic. The food is great: it's all of the Italian-American classics that you grew up with, but there's been no attempts to "update" them or add "fine dining" twists. Very poor experience at this dashing location. We had reservations and were greeted by a hateful older woman, I'm assuming was a manager or owner. Every time I've been to Fazios it's been subpar. I don't have huge expectations for Charleston but this would be an awesome spot if they knew how to utilize it. Their choices without pasta are limited, but I tried it again with some family just because and I ordered their market price "Angus" peppercorn New York strip. The steak was not seasoned other than the chunks of pepper on top. The sauce tasted like water, and my steak was borderline medium well. I always order my steak rare to mid rare. The waitress seemed stressed so we were very lenient, but she had an undeniable attitude that was unwarranted. My family and I are always kind yet honest about our food and service. When I asked about my steak she came back and declared "that is the way we make medium rare here." So almost brown is mid- rare!? I thought there was a temperature standard for everyone. To be honest applebees has better tasting steaks than this "AGED ANGUS" NY strip. The waitresses continued her Tirade by explaining we should have asked for separate checks in the beginning. Wtf? Really? She proclaimed she had to hand write the checks and had no way of making another. Somehow I got charged for 2 glasses of wine and 2 drinks, which I only had one of each. So exhausted at this point I just gave up and paid. Also we were asked what bread we wanted with our meal and they tacked on 3 bucks per person for roughly 8 slices of bread. Needless to say I won't be back. I wanted to reach out to management but because of the hateful and aloof attitudes I didn't waste my breath. Please don't waste your time with this restaurant. I enjoy good dining experiences and I think Olive Garden could have delivered better unfortunately. read more

If you are like me, and have the misfortune of being in her way, I empathize. Her nastiness sometimes appears to make its way into the souls of employees, so beware. For being West Virginia's "Most famous Itlian restaurant" it was pretty pitiful. I had the simple spaghetti and meat sauce because you can tell a lot about an Italian restaurant just by this simple dish. That is one of my favorite foods and the spaghetti and meat sauce here tasted like the Ragu you get from a jar. The noodles were definitely cheap spaghetti you buy from a store, which is no problem but when you pay 15.95 for that it's a disappointment to say the least. My girlfriends dinner was about the same. The shrimp in her pasta was still cold when you bit into it and the sauce was hardly tasteful. Nothing wrong with service, just food. Very over priced for what you get. read more

Golly Ned, where do I even begin. Disappointing across the board. I had never been there before, and our fellowship group of 25-30 was having dinner there, so I decided to give it a spin. The prices! Good lord! $40 for a steak dinner, which says "market price" on the menu, and comes with one small side and a salad. Sorry guys, you're not the kind of restaurant that can get away with charging market prices for your food. My father got the chicken parm, mom got the steak, and my wife and I got the seafood platter. My dad didn't care for his dinner, mom enjoyed the steak, and the seafood was so-so. Then we got two of the chocolate cake slices for dessert and split it. Nothing special at all. I had a few questions to ask, but they only put two servers on our party. One of them (Marselle or Marchelle) was aloof, seemed kind of pretentious, and was never around. Neither was the other server that was taking care of other end of the table. So I had to flag another one down. He admitted the chicken on the chicken parm was a frozen patty, much like a Wendy's chicken sandwich. None of the pasta is made in house. And all the desserts are frozen. I had to practically beat these answers out of him. You could tell he was real hesitant to talk about it. He did say proudly that the meatballs and salads were made in-house. Lol Goodness, I'd hope so! Also, the decor is just tacky. It's very dimly lit, almost to the point where it affects your sight when looking at the menu. And it gets extremely loud. Like a casino on a Saturday night-loud. Between the four of us, we spent right at $150, and never even had a drop of alcohol. Oh, and after the bill came, we noticed that the tip was included in the price. I normally wouldn't have had much of a problem with that, but they certainly did not deserve 18%. 18-20% is for when the service is exceptional, which ours was not. IDK, I guess it could have been worse. There just wasn't anything about this restaurant that told me they were worthy of charging prices like that. Oh well, you live and learn. read more

Fazio's is a Great Family Italian Restaurant. They have a wide variety of Italian from Meatballs to Colossal Shrimp, which my wife loves! They also have Great Salads and Garlic Bread that's to die for! The food is always fresh and hot! The do take walk-ins if seating is available, but I would suggest calling ahead. The downfalls of the Restaurant is that it's pretty expensive. Our bill for 2 adults and 2 kids usually runs around a $100 with no alcohol. The only other issue we've had in the past is poor service. We've waited almost 20 minutes to be greeted and give our drink order....I feel this is a little excessive for it not being busy. Our waitress constantly would be MIA or sitting at a table with Another family chatting away. The last 2 visits have been much better and service has been Great! read more
