Fauna is located in the Kimpton Vividora in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona, and that is the main reason we gave it a try on several occasions. We loved our stay at the hotel - it was wonderful. As part of my stays, I generally get breakfast comped and was excited to try this spot, as the menu looked solid. I want to give this place five stars, but there is so much inconsistency that it's hard to.
The food is generally excellent. We were there four nights/mornings, and we about tried everything on the breakfast menu: redberry pancakes, Nutella crepes, salmon, omelet, eggs benedict, and some others. Each dish was fantastic, though as is normal, some were better than the others. The redberry pancakes and omelet were my favorites, but the point is, everything was great.
But the service and wait time - yikes. It's a real toss-up. There were moments where we felt invisible, as though we weren't existing in the same space as the waiters and waitresses, who would walk by us and other tables without any care or concern for ordering or bringing requested items. It was really baffling, and this was the case all four mornings. I just didn't get it and wasn't sure what to even make of it, as were most other tables.
The small buffet area was a nice added touch as well with different pastries, salmon, juice, and so forth. We stuck to the menu for most things, but there were several nice grabs there too. But if they can clean up all othe service and speed front, this could be a really solid place. read more
