The Road Not Taken*…read more Two streets diverged in a busy road, And sorry I could not travel both For the day ahead left me with none to spare. But a brief stop was nonetheless taken For I have not eaten since the evening last. I took the path that was less taken, And having perhaps the better claim, Because this path was unseemingly tranquil. No hustling, no bustling Of tourists in my way. A restaurant stood out in this peaceful alley. Grateful for a table Since many were taken. At 23 euro their "Paella Menu" indulged my hunger. A glass of Rioja, make that two, was what I desired. I shall be telling this with a sigh For I do not think the locals here Fancy us tourists to flock on their turf, and I... Well I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference :-) * My version of Robert Frost poem because his came into my mind as I walked through the deserted alleyway, then finding this quaint local gem.

The space is cozy, stylish, and has a relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy a slow dinner. We liked that the menu wasn't just traditional Spanish food and it mixes Mediterranean flavors with Belgian influences, so there are plenty of dishes you won't find elsewhere in the city. We tried something a little more creative, like "Crispy Argentinian Prawns" which was surprisingly delicious. The cocktails and drinks were delicious and refreshing. The service was friendly, the staff were happy to answer questions about the menu, and we never felt rushed.

We ordered some tapas, 2 lemon drops, water, 2 servings of seafood paella, and 2 servings of the red shrimp paella. The paella has a note on the menu stating a 30 minute prep time. The water and tapas arrived without much delay, And were very underwhelming for the price. In this area there are many tapas places, that advertise much lower prices. Our party had to repeatedly flag our waitress about the missing drinks, who responded each time that she would get them. She finally brought over 2 empty glasses with ice and a slice of lemon inside. We then tried to attract her attention, to point out that this was not what we ordered, only to watch her repeatedly look away from us. A different server brought us our food, and stated that she would have the drinks removed from the bill. During this time, I had to use the restroom and walked into what looked like a filthy dungeon. (Photo attached). We left a great portion of our over priced food on the table, requested the bill, paid and left. The food that was eaten was acceptable, poor service, and dirty conditions ruined the experience.

It was loud so we could hear it just fine. We had FC Barcelona vs Paris playing on the tv (Barca won) which was fun to experience while visiting. We ordered a little too much food but everything tasted so good and it was all cooked to perfection. We ordered: Mutabal, Hallumi, Warak Inab, Fatayer de Espinacas, Kabsa de Cordero, and Maklube Vetegal. We also ordered a kettle of black tea with sage and a kettle of black tea with cinnamon. We also ordered an apple with mint shisha to finish dinner with. We loved everything we ordered, especially the black tea with sage, mutabal, and the shisha was nice. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and felt so welcoming. The service was outstanding and even with the language barrier, we got by just fine. What topped off a wonderful visit was that the waiter gave us two types of baklava for free! Absolutely wonderful place and a true gem!
