My wife and I decided to celebrate our 17th "together" anniversary by having dinner at Fatty Fish, and we couldn't have been more happy with our choice! We sat at the counter and ordered the omakase at $80 per person. We were treated to one of the best sushi experiences of our lives. We've had omakase several times and this was by far one of our top five, if not top three. The chef took us on a culinary voyage that surprised and delighted. The hot house sake was perfect. We finished with their signature pan-seared edamame, and I don't think I can have edamame any other way now. We can't thank the chef and the staff enough for such a wonderful evening!! read more

If you want a downtown sushi experience they can deliver that. If you want value/budget bang for the buck they can help that happen. Nice lunch specials. Closed on Tuesdays. Excellent food and above and beyond customer service. We ordered a pot of green tea and several maki rolls to share. Everything was delicious. Tea was very tasty and I loved the cast iron pot in came in. It was a little heavy but our server was so attentive, we never had to lift it. He kept our tea filled. Although it's very difficult to go up against Kashiba for Seattle's best sushi, Tommy at the bar here at Fatty Fish gives Shiro San a run for his money. The menu is imaginative, the fish is fresh, and the knowledge and skill by which it's delivered is top notch. I highly recommend this restaurant. Let me start off by saying if you like sushi go to this place, you will without a doubt leave with a smile on your face, I went here for the first time last night and all I can say is wow! I can still taste the freshness of this sushi. My wife and I had never heard of fatty fish and had been going to some other local sushi places that we found to be alright and we figured we would try a new place out. When we first walked in the staff was busy so we waited to be seat and most people might complain that they had to wait but something happened while we waited that made me feel as if they really care about the customers here, the sushi chef saw that nobody was able to attend to us and to took it upon himself to walk out and greet us and said we could sit anywhere and grabbed our menus, a waiter then greeted us and took our drink orders, and then another waiter did the same and they communicated to each other very quickly about the drink situation, we got our drinks and gendered at the menu seeing what our options were. Unlike most sushi places they have some interesting options on the menu such as sushi pizza I did not try it but it is nice to see they are trying other things. Once my wife and I were ready to order the waiter came over and took our order and let me say I was impressed he just stood there and listened and walked away he didn't have to write anything down. I got a Tammy roll and a California roll and my wife got a philly roll and two orders of sashimi as well as her miso soup and my gyoza. All of the food was outstanding, the sushi was so fresh you could just tell the rice was perfect and I haven't had fish taste like that in sushi before. While we were eating the waiter suggested that if we have any room left over that we should try the créme brûlée he said it was the best he had ever tasted, so we went ahead and Oder after we were done eating, and let say it was so good the top was crystalized perfectly and mixed with the strawberry it came with was perfection with a very creamy layer underneath. So let me end this by simply saying just go and try fatty fish it is a great price for great food. read more

I visited this place today with my wife. We ordered some soup and asked for two extra eggs which I've done at many other restaurants. For some reason, the waitress and I believe manager (an Asian lady) were arguing in the back of the restaurant that we asked for extra eggs. It seemed like the manager was upset about it for some reason. After they were done, it continued at the front of the store. I am sad and disappointed. I had waited 6 months since I first saw the "coming soon" banner until my first and possibly only visit there. I was excited that a sushi place was opening up less than a mile from home. We understand with new restaurants there would be growing pains so I'm going to excuse a few unpleasantries but one thing that is outrageous is the price. $30 for a tiny chirashi bowl? $12 for udon?? Last time I spent $100 and still left hungry was at Shiro's in Belltown. Granted the quality was good, this place is a far cry from Shiro's. Next time I'm craving sushi, I'm going to drive the extra couple miles to Sushi Zen. Better food, better selection, better price. Sorry not sorry read more

I love this place, the regular server and the food are fantastic, we come here often and are always happy and full afterwards. That being said; the new server that they had on this evening was a fuckass. I have been in customer service for over 20 years and this idiot will cause me to turn around and leave if he's there the next time we come in. If I had ever behaved the way that he did to a customer I'd be fired. I hope they get rid of him as soon as possible, because it will definitely affect the frequency of our visits. We NEVER don't tip. My husband made sure the regular girl was given a tip of course, but this new guy was my first time not leaving one. read more

Go here! This rivals Sushi Zen, which is a great compliment. There aren't a lot of really good sushi restaurants in this area, but there are a few who are contenders. Fatty Fish is close to home, so it's wonderful that the food is so good. The place is small, yet super clean. Comfy chairs and inviting, simple decor. The staff is friendly and welcoming. My only teeny complaint would be that the music is too loud. But that's a simple fix, and I'm hoping they read this review. :-D The sushi is beautiful. Looks alone can't carry a restaurant, so be assured that the flavors are equally as beautiful. The dishes are put together with such care and decorative touches, yet everything came out very quickly. I hope they put umeshiso maki on the menu. That is one of my absolute favorite rolls that you don't find in every sushi joint. They are open on Sundays, and when we went, it was too quiet for my liking...in that I want a place like this to flourish and have many repeat customers!! Please, eat here and keep a wonderful business going. My son is a picky eater and wouldn't dare eat anything that resembles sushi. I'm happy to report that he absolutely loves their gyoza. read more
