I had to temporarily stay in a private board and care. When it was time to go home I needed someone able to transport a hospital bed, especially one that is bariatric. I reached out to thid company and the staff were very willing to help me witb the move. They were also very willing to work with the medical transport team bringing me home. I am not in a great state as far as my health so I appreciated this and wanted to be sure good service is rewarded. read more

I had a good experience when moving from Glendale to the Westside. However.... when moving 600 feet down the street from a (MOSTLY PACKED/AND ALREADY MOVED) apartment into a two bedroom apartment. It took EIGHT HOURS. It was basically Two Schmucks and a Truck. They were inefficient and made off color remarks. All the boxes had rooms labeled on them but they still had no idea. Things were not treated with care and they moved at a glacial pace. It was a good thing I had personally moved a ton of stuff already or who knows how long it would take. I was surprised because the first move seemed so well done... I did have a third guy but I also was moving more stuff then. When I reached out with my complaints the owner or whoever answered the email told me I had been undercharged the first time. Well, if I would have known that I would have not used them again. Good thing they shook me down for over $800 this time because I will never use them again and have already told people I had recommended them about this ghastly experience. Absolute worst experience I've ever had with any moving company. I've encountered some three star ones before, but I've never been screamed at by one of the movers. Edgar lost his absolute mind when I asked for extra help to stretch to the four hour minimum. He started yelling about rushing to the next job, shouted at me about getting a break, then he threw some wood doors I needed moved to the trash. He was getting visibly upset, shaking, and I felt extremely unsafe and uncomfortable, and told him if he wants a break, he can have it. I have never yelled back at anyone providing me with service in my life. I did today. I paid them the full amount for 4 hours with a tip (even though they were here for 3), because up until then both Edgar and the partner Tom(?) were very sweet and helpful. The partner was apologetic for his behavior. I called the office to complain, and I received no apology until I specifically mentioned it. I also could have sworn I was told 3 hour minimum on the phone when I set it up. Unfortunately, I never received an email confirmation of the terms and when they arrived, we were already at a disagreement about the hours. But I still agreed to pay the 4 hours anyway, and ended up only getting 3. I cannot believe I was yelled at for asking to get what I paid for: four hours. Next time I move, I'm going the extra mile and paying for the best I've ever had that I kept going back to many times. No more looking for the best deal. read more

I used this company for a cross country move earlier this month. I called in and spoke to Sarah explaining how I got scammed by another moving company. She was very understanding and gave me a quote, which included National van lines to finish the job. My movers Tom, Jose and one other guy were very nice, and handled my items with care. It did take a bit longer then I was told, but they did a good job. There were a couple hiccups, but Sarah and Michael handled them. Father and son's moving truck blew up and a fire burned everything we own to the ground. NOTHING WAS SAVED. WE LOST EVERYTHING. At the scene drivers refused to discuss what happened or give us any of their personal info (their names were held from us) Micheal (owner) is avoiding giving us any insurance details. If one truck is not maintained to the extent of this, you should expect the truck that comes to you will be no different. I had to change moving dates several times due to escrow delays in selling my home and buying my new one and Father & Son Moving was very accommodating with all the schedule changes and very committed to working with me during this transition. First, let me start ny saying the owner is a caring and honest person. They packed our entire house, and when we went to unpack at our new house, I couldn't find my Wedding ring and other special jewelry. When I called him to see what box, he was extremely worried and said he would find out. Thankfully, I found it. The box had shifted and there was a small hole. When we moved 7 years ago, we were recommended to Father & Son. They did a great job at a fair price. Time to move again. We decided to go with a known entity. Based on the price for our prior move (we hadn't added any new furniture) and the distance involved in the move, Michael was able to give us an estimate over the phone. Jose and his team (Miguel, Edgar, and Tom) showed up right on time. They treated our furniture like they were priceless antiques with an abundance of shrink wrap and moving pads. The move came off without a hitch. NO BREAKAGE!!! The team was very accommodating in terms of placing the furniture where we thought we wanted it and then where we finally placed it. Out of all these moves this was by far the smoothest and most pain free. From the moment I spoke with Michael on the phone I knew we were in great hands. He was understanding, fair, transparent and most of all, honest about what to expect. Anyone who has moved will understand the importance of these simple things. When we first hired them, we were given an estimate price, during the 2weeks they had our furniture I called them, they never returned any phone calls, until I said I was going to report them, I needed to find out when my furniture would be arriving, I moved from Calif. to Ontario New York, they lied about everything, and the price went up over $2000 from the price I was originally given, they were contracted through Colonial Van Lines and then when I was told because I was treated so poorly that BOISSELLE CHARAI which was a supervisor from Colonial Van Lines was going to contact me. All she did was argue with me. They said she was gonna compensate me in someway because of the poor service lack of communication and all she wanted to do was argue so I suggest no one use Colonial Van Lines do not I repeat. Do not use father and son moving storage and they are contracted through Colonial Van Lines poor service they lie they overcharge they don't return calls and you don't know whether your furniture and belongings will ever get to you so do not use these two services. it wouldn't let me post unless I gave it a star rating. I used Father & Son Moving for a local move (20 miles). The movers themselves did a fantastic job - they showed up at the tail end of the time slot, were super efficient and professional, and all of our belongings made it to the final destination in the same condition they left. However my experience with the management was not as seamless. Prior to selecting them, I called several companies and disclosed that we may need to hoist a couch to the ground floor, and most said this would require 4 movers. I knew this could be done with 3 movers because that's how many we had when we hoisted the couch during move-in. F&S was one of the few companies that said they could do it with 3 movers. They sent me an email confirming the same. Fast forward to moving day and 4 guys showed up at the job. I was frustrated that F&S didn't disclose to me they would be sending an extra mover and that there would be extra costs associated with this. They made excuses ("you could have called us to tell us, it's been a busy morning...") and argued that the job got done faster so it would have been the same price as with 3 movers. But at the end of the day, as the customer it should have been MY choice to make. I might have gone with another company if I wanted 4 movers. Not to mention, the movers didn't even need to hoist the couch after all. I also had an issue with how they calculated the moving time. The total time, start to finish, was 4.75 hours, inclusive of the driving time which was 45 minutes. Most moving companies double the driving time, which means the total job time should have been 5.5 hours, yet they wanted to charge me for 6.5 hours. It took entirely too long to convince them that their math was wrong. I also didn't appreciate the guilt trip about how they had to drive from the Valley... if you don't want to drive from the Valley, either don't take the job or build it into your pricing. In the end, they agreed to lower the bill and I paid what I believe is a reasonable amount. But I would not recommend F&S simply due to the lack of transparency and their argumentative demeanor when I raised these issues to management. read more

We had a move with another company from Van Nuys scheduled 3 weeks in advance. 2 days prior we reached out a number of times for confirmation, with NO Communication in return. The day prior to the Move, he did confirm saying we'll see you tomorrow. On the day of the move. They were a "No Show" I called 3 times, sent text messages and emails. He completely ignored all of our calls/texts. How Stressful!! In a panic, I reached out to two other Movers, knowing it would be a long shot getting it done that day... I contacted Mike at Father & Son Moving... They were busy that day (of course, its End of Month). Mike said give me a few minutes to try to work something out. Within 2 hours of my call to Mike, he had a truck on site with two movers. They completed the job in a truly professional manner! Crisis Averted!!! Moving can be one of the most stressful times! If you are moving long distance save yourself the headache of using this company. They out source my move to National Vanlines. This is one of the moving company's you hear horror stories of moving companies upping the price once they have your load. They raised mine by $2300. When i got my stuff yesterday boxes were smashed, fragile marked boxes were flipped upside down and things are broken. When I reached out to Father and Sons about the damage they passed the buck to National. They broke my dining room table, my wife's expensive electric bike is all twisted up, and some of our boxes were smashed. Also when they were unloading the truck i walked onto to the truck and to my horror the driver slammed a heavy box on top of one of my wife's Nightmare before Christmas limited edition disney piece. When I called him out on it his response was why you policing me on the broken items and continued to tell me that is what is wrong with America. I took photos. They were able to provide the certificate of insurance that the HOA rules required for the condo move. The movers were very nice and very efficient. For one move, we had an extremely tight timetable (closing escrow in 14 days) during a time when all movers seemed to be booked for weeks. Michael was able to work some magic and find us a crew for a few hours to get the things that we needed to move out of the unit to clear it for the sale.
