I've always loved supporting Fat Cupcake, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I've purchased cupcakes for birthdays and even recommended them to friends--one of my friends even used them for her wedding instead of a traditional cake. Because of that, for my birthday this year I asked my mom to pick up cupcakes for my second grade class--50 mini cupcakes with specific flavors I had chosen. One of my students has a severe egg allergy, so it was extremely important that the vegan cupcakes were clearly separated and labeled. Unfortunately, the experience in the store was very upsetting. The staff member helping my mom was scrolling on her phone the entire time and came across as very rude and dismissive. My mom even asked if she had done something wrong because the employee was being so rude and inconsiderate , but the behavior continued. The boxes were placed on the counter aggressively , and my mom was rung up without much communication. The total came out to about $200 for 50 mini cupcakes, 6 regular-sized ones, a small piece of cake and two cake pops, which felt especially frustrating given the service. After leaving, my mom realized the vegan cupcake had been mixed in with the others and not labeled or separated at all--this is a serious safety concern. She returned to the store to clarify, and the employee took a cupcake from the case and handed it to her in her bare hand, without a box or container, saying, "this one is vegan." My mom had to ask if she was expected to just hold it in her hand. Later that evening, I had to go to a grocery store and purchase a separate set of vegan cupcakes that were clearly packaged and labeled because I no longer felt confident in the safety of what was provided. The lack of care and attention from the staff made it impossible for me to serve my student their cupcakes. I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was honestly sad. I've always wanted to support this business, but the lack of care, professionalism, and attention to something as serious as a food allergy was very disappointing--especially after spending so much. I truly hope this business can do better for its customers in the future. read more

Went to get some cupcakes for my Valentines today. Fat cupcake has excellent cupcakes. A friend of a friend is the owner and we've been coming here since the day it opened. The guy working today appeared very confused. He kept stating things and then changing the answer. He told me that a box for a single cupcake would be a dollar if you did not order a seasonal cupcake. He then pointed me to the seasonal cupcakes and I chose one and then he said it was a messy real cupcake to the cash register. I will start to use a different cupcake to suffice and then he said that cupcake was not seasonal either. Wow.... Absolutely ridiculous. I did notice that the cupcakes have shrunk. At $4.75 a cupcake It shouldn't be that hard to get some cupcakes and a box. If you order a single cupcake, why do they need to put it in a big box? It seems like it would make sense to put it in the smaller box which costs them less. I also gave him $20 cash, and he didn't give me a receipt. read more

A somewhat underutilized upscale cupcake store in SE district. The Suite and Tie flavor focuses on caramel: "marble cake, caramel buttercream, sea salt, caramel drizzle." Definitely tasted a little toasty, and the flavor of the buttercream was definitely multilayered. The Raspberry Rex, with "chocolate cake, raspberry mousse, chocolate buttercream" was good too. I like the contrast of the gooey middle with the cake texture. Finally, the standard Lemon Doodle, "white cake, sugar cookie baked on top, lemon buttercream" was decent; I tend to like more elaborate flavors but was curious what they did with the basics. We had the best experience ordering mini cupcakes for our wedding reception. Sierrah gave above and beyond great customer service! We were so thrilled with how they turned out, and we should have gotten more. People inhaled them at our party! The cupcake display tower was super easy to put together, and simple to return for our deposit back. Everyone we worked with during all of this was super friendly and helpful. We ordered 140 mini cupcakes for a baby shower. I thought the price was a bit steep, but when I was able to customize the color of frosting, and add custom sprinkles, and alter the fillings of the three different flavors, and more importantly when we snuck one before the guests arrived, "just to make sure they were good enough to serve", and yum!!! Moist and flavorful. Definitely tastes like they look, delicious! The staff was very sweet as well as far as helping navigate the online ordering system, and the boxes I brought them home in were awesome, no sliding around and getting smooshed on the way. My mom got cupcakes from here for my baby shower and they were pretty disappointing. First off it was $68 for 24 mini cupcakes, secondly they don't let you pick any of their fun flavors for a "bulk" order which seems silly. The only options were vanilla or chocolate and you could pick a filling and a frosting which had to be the same for all the cupcakes. The cupcakes all fell out of the little holes they are supposed to sit in in the box and frosting fell off so they ended up not looking very good due to poor packaging and they were just pretty basic. For $68 we expected better than a store bought quality cupcake. If you just want a fun cupcake this place is great, but if you want them for an event or something I wouldn't suggest getting them here. read more

Fat Cupcake makes the cupcakes we all dream about...yummy, moist and gorgeous. They have mini ones which are perfect if you want to try different flavors without purchasing a large cupcake. Sometimes I get my favorite flavor and then a mini of a flavor I hadn't tried before. They are so good and don't have that horrible fake taste that you get at alot of places. The flavors are amazing and you have many to choose from. I'm actually giving boxes of them for Christmas treats. Everyone is always super nice and helpful. I love this place and every time I got the cupcakes are perfect and delicious. I love their flavor options, and the ladies are always so helpful. The only thing I really don't like is their punch card system...its really cheap on their part. You have to come in 10 (however many) times to be able to redeem their punch card and its regardless of how much you spend. Shall return the next time we need a treat. Went after work on my way home to pick up 7 mini's. It was my first time and I think the cute billboards around Oregon City are what drew me in. My wife and I usually love this place. Today was different and we haven't been in awhile. The cupcakes regular size for a dozen was $35! Yes they are gourmet for the most part but so are donuts and they don't cost that much. I remember going here for the first time, and it was very awesome, as well as very inspiring too. What I like best were the cupcakes and how delicious they looked (and still do, from my perspective). Basically, I tried the "Pretty in Pink" cupcake for the first time, and I took a liking to it. To be honest, it was delicious, or "délicieuse" (as they say in French). Also, the young lady working there was very nice, sweet and friendly. Both the service and the food are what I would give five stars (although ten stars would be even better). Okay so one of the cupcakes was demolished so fast, I didn't get a picture of it. But wow, such moist cupcakes! Good line between density and moisture. The icing is good too!
