I first stumbled upon Fat Cat during my boyfriend's birthday last year. I was instantly drawn to Fat Cat because it easily accommodated our large group size. They have ample tables for no matter what group size you bring to them. Whenever they aren't hosting something they have the pool table out. The bar is up to date and colorful. I love that they offer daily deals that range from martini night to discounted foods on certain nights. Fat Cat is the place to go if you're looking for someone to sponsor your adult sports leagues. I had the great fortune to work with the Manager Drew to get Fat Cats to sponsor our recent Beach Volleyball team. Drew gave us shirts, a 20% off our bill, and we always had a table ready for us when we finished our games. Since we had a eight week league, I had the opportunity to try all of the different dishes whether ordering it myself or nabbing a bite from my friend. Fat Cat was very consistent with their food quality. The drinks were reasonably priced and they have a massive drink menu so there is something for everyone. The one thing that did cause frustration was that we had to repeatedly remind the waitress about the discount (even though we had the same waitress every week). The waitress would some times not give us the discount or wouldn't remember that it was 20% off and not 10 or 15% off. Once the manager that was on duty found out about the issue, she ensured we got our discounts going forward with no issues. I would definitely recommend visiting Fat Cat! read more

The food was very average. Nothing special. The only one thing that was truly bad was the "roasted" broccoli appetizer. It was just frozen broccoli with some pesto and parm on it. It was bad bad. Otherwise, everything else is just serviceable. read more

What a wonderful experience! My husband and I stopped in early for a bit to eat and a couple drinks before a show nearby. The staff was very attentive, but not over bearing. Everyone we spoke with were super courteous. We got the poutine as an app, best we've ever had! The chicken sandwich and brown rice bow were our entrees, and they were both so freaking good! The drinks were just perfect too. Sad we couldn't stay longer and live so far away. We would definitely frequent all the time! Ordered a Beyond Burger + fries for delivery, which I've done about twice a month for the past year. I ordered 2 hours (with a set delivery time) since I know they get busy on the weekends. The food arrived cold (some fries were uncooked) and soggy (the tomato had soaked significant portions of the bun). What I think happened (but hope it didn't) was that they made the food when I ordered it, and then it sat under a heat lamp until they said it was "ready" for the delivery person (I saw when it was picked up and when it was delivered, so I know there wasn't a delay in *getting* it to me). I have been here before the drinks and food were ok. I came last week for drinks before a concert. The WORST margarita ever made was presented to me. Just awful all lime juice and battery acid. I don't think she even made it. I think she handed me so old drink and charged a large price for it. Nasty! I didn't even drink it. I wasn't paying didn't want to be a problem so I gave it away. My boyfriend and I stopped here before a concert at Aragon Ballroom and were pleased with our experience. We had made a reservation and were seated immediately. Because it was a concert night, it was extremely busy for a Thursday. Despite this, the service was great! Our waitress, who had what seemed like at least half of the tables, was very attentive while also respecting our attempt to take our time at the restaurant. The space is pretty cool with 1940's decor scattered around. I loved the unique light fixtures and various decor elements. The atmosphere was chill and quaint with fun music playing overhead. I believe there were some pool tables as well, which would be worth coming back to check out. We both ended up getting burgers. I got the Chef's Burger and my boyfriend got the Hot Mess Burger. Both were cooked to perfection and very tasty. Both came with fries that were phenomenal. To drink I got the Spanish Gin and Tonic. One of the best Gin & Tonic's I have had... dangerously good! While the prices can be a little high, the food is worth it and the servings are quite large, including the cocktails. Hmm, it's just your neighborhood bar. Love the sign and name of the bar. Just the name itself made me excited to go. Sounds like it would be fun, but honey it was dry in there. The vibe was down. My gal pal and I came here before I went to the H.E.R concert. We enjoyed the $5 Moscow Mules, it was happy hour from 4-6pm on a Tuesday. I ordered hot wings and my she ordered calamari. Both were unseasoned and very bland. They came out fairly fast, so I knew they weren't going to be "that good." My wings actually taste like they were in the microwave. I believe it was an order of 8 I normally smash wings but I left 3 on the plate and didn't care to take them home. I love their food and service. Being able to have open air possibility almost around the whole restaurant is divine. Now I have not been there for evening dinner- just Sunday Brunch (Dinner menu is always available) but it usually feels mixed up. The music is over powering and makes it had to.. well..Brunch. I've been here a few times now and I have to say I really like it. The first two times I came here to drink. Thursday nights is 5 dollar special martinis. They were all really good-impressed by the fact that they make their own pineapple vodka and have a peanut butter whipped topping. The bomb pop martini stood out because it was so sweet-literally like a bomb pop popsicle and the chocolate peanut butter martini-again because of the PB whipped topping. They have a good selection of beers on tap-including a lambic a Belgian fruit beer, girly, I know but I really like them. As well as beer specials. Food-wise it's definitely above average bar food, but with regular bar specials. 25 cent wing night on Tuesdays, is a stand out. Okay decided to gove them another shot. Mistake! Ordered wings again, ordered a beer and literally from order to service was 3mins! How do you make fresh wings in 3mins? You can't; you drop old wings in hot oil and serve them. They were dry, chewy and barely edible. Now, I'm not one to complain, but you have to stop this practice of reheating your wings! It's disrespectful to your guests. If you don't want to take the time to do it right,then don't do it. Not for me because I'll never return. But, for the next guest. Came here before a show and we were surprised to get a seat. The place was packed for a Friday around 7ish. There were shows at both the Aragon and the Riviera though. Server took a while to find us but once she did she was on top of things. Two ordered the pork belly sandwich and raves about it. One ordered a chicken sandwich and scarfed it down. And I ordered a Beyond Burger which passed the test. Fries were good - if not just a little soggy. Good beer selection, etc. It's loud and bustling, but good way to rev up for a show. The server was chatty, friendly and fast. She was also good at suggesting drinks. The food was not good. The wife tried the Mac and cheese and could not tell what it was until later when she asked the person who ordered it. The poutine did not taste right, with a little rancid aftertaste; the fries had been fried in oil that clearly wasn't fresh. Despite those issues, this was a fun bar. My friend and I were exploring Old Town on a Wednesday night and this place seemed pretty crowded, so we decided to give it a shot. No staff acknowledged our presence when we walked in and we were confused as to whether we could seat ourselves; we had to wait for a while until someone finally came over and seated us at a table. Other than this, the service was great throughout the night. They have pretty extensive drink options; I ordered a Breckenridge Latte and liked it a lot (very fall-ish and festive)! I also ordered the Korean BBQ tacos, which was very flavorful and the kimchi on top was a nice touch. There were more french fries than there were tacos, but the aioli that came on the side was really good with a nice kick to it that I ended up eating the entire huge pile of fries. read more

Sadly I came in at the end of happy hour (of course I did, tear) but was able to try the 5 dollar burger special. I'm far from a burger person (I'm particular) but this burger was SO GOOD! I did load it to add but it was so good! I tried the I wanna say the Uptown Royale? Worth every penny! My sever was so nice and attentive. Other staff as well. Really good vibe. From start to finish. Two visits, two wildly different experiences. Service was good on both visits, but I chalk that up one member of our party knowing a waitress. On my first visit, I ordered a half-dozen chicken wings. They were awful. The chicken tasted like it was beyond its expiration date. Was it freezer burn? Something more sinister? My tongue was unhappy with these wings. But on my second visit, I ordered the straight-up burger and it was really delicious. Very good seasoned beef. The fries tasted fresh, but quite bland. Going to Fat Cat is like putting a quarter in one of those vending machines that dispenses plastic eggs. You might get something cool or something lame, but it's never worth what you paid. read more

We got there a little early, they made us wait in like the back of the restaurant near the toilets. Fine. The table was way too high and we were so far apart from each other you had to scream to hear each other. Our waiter was just as rude. We waited for about 10 minutes for her parents to arrive, while he badgered us three times asking us if we wanted any "snacks"- not even offering us drinks. We explained we were waiting for our party, and he begrudgingly dismissed us. When they arrived, he greeted us again, and I understand it was a busy night, but he sounded as if he was reading a script. There was no effort to be genuinely friendly, he sounded almost mad to be taking our orders- not to mention, we were a table of 8 (bigger parties=bigger tips= you should probably give them the best service). Nice place, decent beer choices but pathetically understaffed and horribly rude bar service on a night where it was well known that there was a sold out show at the very close by Riviera Theatre. Unless staff was unexpectedly out sick, or had just quit there is no excuse to ignore customers and make them wait 20 minutes for a drink at the bar or 15 plus minutes to try to get the check to leave. Female bartender was unusually rude. Would give another chance to this place but first visit was regrettable. read more

Great spot in uptown. The service was great thanks to the awesome bartender. They had a nice spiced cider for the autumnal season. The bartender used, this word, I told you, the best!! They have a nice menu, with some sort of Ruben Balls which were maybe on Chicago's best? I wanted them... but I lightened it up with the fried chicken sandwich, which was awesome! Crispy chicken, soft bun, fresh lettuce, yum! They also have an awesome homemade hot pepper vinegar, I think they give it to everyone, it is so great on fries! I bought a bottle for $10! read more

The dog days of summer are upon us and the ideal Sunday supper for local burgers and fries is Fat Cat. It was around 8 PM we arrived and greeted by the hostess. Fairy lights, lanterns and surprising industrial air conditioner putting and running adjacent to the bar. The service was passable. The food was par. The experience left me guessing if I wanted to visit again. Let's create the scenario. If you were seated prior to the consequent party, there was a certain assumption your order will be attended to first. Not this time. In terms of ordering and receiving our food, the service was nimble compared to ours. This was evident as the consequent party was sitting next to us. I wanted to visit Fat Cat as we enjoyed their brownie and ice cream dessert from our previous experiences here. Instead, we hastily cleared our table, paid our tab and left for an alternative dessert spot. Jeni's ice cream in Andersonville was better anyway. read more
