We were on our way to the north shore and stopped here for lunch. I got a chicken salad which was really two meals and my partner got the special, chicken strips. My salad was great. Okay so it could be named better! But this place was very nice. We were traveling and we did like we usually do; we yelped us up a place to eat. Took a chance on Fat Boy's. The sign outside now says Fat Boy's Family Restaurant. They do serve more than pizza but we both ordered a pizza. While we were waiting, one of the owners comes out and places an appetizer which had 3 mozzarella sticks on it. He said, "It looks like your first time here! I've never seen your faces before, here's a free treat for you" What an awesome treat! These things were great. The special dipping sauce which was probably their base sauce for the pizza was superb. I kept it to dip my pizza in. We both loved our pizzas. It tasted fresh! It tasted like it was wood-fired but the owner said it was baked in a special pizza oven. I will also say that while i was eating my pizza, someone at another table was served a hamburger. Right away i almost regretted ordering my pizza as this burger looked HUGE! I thought it might tip over before it got to the table. I'm getting this next time i have a chance to come this way. If you are near this place, you should stop in. This place is amazing! My coworker and I stopped here for lunch and it is the bomb.com their cheese curds are the best that I have ever had! From the outside it looks really small, but on the inside it's really quaint! There so many pictures over the walls that show it's one of those hidden gems! The pizza I got was an all meat and the ground beef, was REAL ground beef!!! Our meal was so delicious! They have Coke products, beer, and the owner was very warm and welcoming while we were there. The restaurant is a great experience and the staff are amazing except for one of them. The waitress with blue and purple dyed hair is extremely rude. She has hung up on me multiple times when Im trying to make an order. She also slammed my food onto my table while also intrumping my conversation with my wife and to top it all off when the bucket for wiping down the tables went missing she asked my and my wife if we went into the kitchen and moved it with the rudest attitude. We ran into car trouble in Bloomer Wisconsin (which felt like in the middle of nowhere to us). Walked over to Fatboys as the car got fixed and Jay immediately turned our frowns upside down. Got the wrong food and sent it back. Waitress returned and said "I know it's not what you ordered. I have it right here on my pad that it's not what you ordered. But Jay said I have to charge you anyway because he already made it". So, yep, I got charged for food I didn't order because the kitchen already made the wrong thing. Our experience with this place is quite different than others...could have been the night but highly doubtful. We stopped in on a Wednesday night and they were busy. The pizza flavor was just ok...on par with those from Costco. Our pizzas could have easily used another 4-5 minutes in the oven as the dough was obviously undercooked and cheese was barely melted. The breadsticks were interesting and definitely the best part of the meal because they were actually cooked. The owner is obviously a sociable guy and really enjoyed making my family feel awkward. You know the kind of awkward where you smile and nod because you're afraid they'll spit in your food. He does like to touch people and make off color jokes about the local patrons (at least I hope they were local). He proceeded to bash a couple that was in earlier because they didn't appreciate his rhetoric and poor taste in bible verses.He didn't let us enjoy our meal with a couple interruptions. read more

This Place has it all small town atmosphere great food and they even had my Angry Orchard. I was in town for a basketball tournament a few of us heard about this place as a must go to if you are in Bloomer. We arrived a little before they opened and Mr. Thompson Opens the door and we asked are you open yet? He says get in here I opened the door we are now open. It was 15 minutes early. He was very welcoming. You really can tell he does what he loves for a living. I would recommend this as a motorcycle run destination as well. It has windy scenic country roads. This single star rating does not reflect the quality of the food. The food was fine. It was, however, the most uncomfortable dining experience I have ever had. As we were waiting for our food to be delivered I noticed someone come out of the kitchen and talk (loudly) to people waiting for a pickup order. His tone was very confrontational but I figured, hey, we're in a small town, obviously this guy knows the people he is talking to. As we neared the end of our meal, however, he came out again. This time he talked to the table next to us. Again, he sounded very confrontational. At this point he started quoting the bible; a verse about how a woman should bow down to her man. The people he was talking to seemed uncomfortable. He then seemed to get defensive and state that he had a bible in the back if they'd like to fact check him. It then got worse. He came to our table. Mind you, we had never been to this restaurant. We'd never even been in Bloomer before. He leaned over our booth and loudly asked if my girlfriend was in a bad mood. Because we didn't find him amusing? He then looked at me sternly and asked if I didn't like the owner's sense of humor. This man was the owner!! I simply stated I was just trying to eat my meal. He then 'jokingly' slugged my girlfriend in the arm and asked how the food was. We said it was fine, and when he went back to the kitchen we promptly paid our bill and left. We would have taken the leftovers but felt the need to leave as quickly as possible as we felt as if we were being chased out. I have never been treated like that at a restaurant, and as a restaurant owner myself I would be incredibly ashamed if I ever made any of my customers feel the way he made me feel.
