Day 1 of brought a crew of 7 terrific guys - all friendly, polite, and careful with our prized possessions as well as the stuff if everyday life. On Day 2 they arrived early, again with a crew of 7. By midday they had finished up and we all enjoyed paletas on our front porch. Moving is exhausting and stressful. I thought…read moreI was dealing with Fast Moving in Hackettstown, but somehow ended up with Fast Movers in Lee. Brian was my contact for the entire move. I wanted to be able to give a great review because Brian was so nice, and I thought trustworthy. But it was a debacle. The drivers showed up at 3 when they were scheduled for 8. We took down the beds they were supposed to disassemble and reassemble because they were so late. My quote from Brian was $556 downpayment, and $2200 total in 2 parts. 1/2 at pick up, 1/2 at delivery. I intended to pay by cheque or credit card. When the drivers got there, they were not driving a Fast Mover truck, but a Penske truck. They stated that the cubic footage was double my signed contract quote, took a video, and told me I'd have to pay a total of $4495, $1950 CASH on the spot, and another $1949 CASH at delivery (I used Zelle) The paperwork they had me sign was on Home Run Van Lines. MY son and I spent hours BACK AND FORTH on the phone with Brian who also answered to Michael, as well as to a female 'dispatcher'. Brian and I had gone over the contents of my move the day before, nothing was added, in fact some was brought in our 3 cars. Although their handling of the furniture was excellently done, one side table got damaged, and it took them 5 hours to load the truck with all the confusion and time spent on upcharging us. We didn't leave until 8:30 pm when it was dark and pouring rain. It was a treacherous drive, and we didn't get to ct until 2 am. I had to take a $325 dollar hotel with my son and my cat. The movers came at 6 am on the 30th. They wouldn't unload the truck until I paid them the balance of the upcharge The whole experience felt like a shakedown. I have been dealing with Brian since the move to make me whole for the upcharge I had no choice but to sign for. I trusted him, but I now feel like I am being played. I asked to speak to the owner who he said was ´Dave', no last name, and he would not give me his number. He said he would call me. He did not. I reported this to the Federal Trade Commission, because the whole experience was feeling very shady. We had a contract, and the cubic footage was miscalculated which Brian told me in a text. I am a nurse. I don't calculate square footage. That is on Brian, who admitted there was an error in the calculation. I have been trying to get reimbursed for the money I was practically held hostage for. This is not right. We had a contract that was completely breached. I even offered up an earlier timeline but they had no availability. My 1 star reflects the not great communications and has no bearing on their physical work as I booked another local mover who was accommodating and communicated in an appreciated timely manner .
