I popped into the first store, Kindred Spirits. It could be described as store that makes you feel at home. There is a pleasant aroma in store as you enter...very comforting and inviting. They have quality goods. I liked that the clothing were spaciously hung on the racks. Interestingly, nothing of their clothing had bright colors, which are my personal favorites. I did enjoy perusing the store. In this boutique you can find a variety goods tops (long-sleeved, short-sleeved and cropped tops), jackets, dresses, skirts and accessories. The clothing are not fad-like with a very conservative feel. You will be able to wear these clothes for years and decades to come. Importantly, they are focused on environmental sustainability and social responsibility Similarly, the prices are a bit more for these clothing than the average boutique. However, you investing in the Austin community. The sales associate was very helpful and friendly. I learned that this is a locally-owned, woman-owned business. Very pleasant shopping experience...

Be very careful as you open their door. Lovecraft is located in East Austin on 11th St. Their name comes from a 1990's Texas speakeasy that was creative and diverse. Lovecraft is women owned and operated small business with ethically made goods and sustainable brands. They also focus on emerging and new designers. This was my last stop in the boutique trifecta. Lovecraft is where fantasy meets whimsical, while making a lasting statement. Every items feel unique and one of a kind. I envision this store for gifts for the hard to shop for people. The store manager categorized the shop as apothecary (one of those dreamy, sensory‑filled shops with earthy scents to the beautifully crafted herbal blends. Focus is on wellness, ritual, and natural ingredients.) Price ranges from reasonable to expensive.

I love buying things here as gifts for my favorite people. They really have a uniquely curated collection of items. You can find all the scents from candles to diffusers, sprays, perfumes, and more. They carry items that you might find elsewhere but the quality of those items elsewhere might be hard to beat. Top quality merchandise here whether you're buying an accessory piece for your home or spoiling yourself with spa products. Nice staff and prices are what you would expect from.

Charm School Vintage is one of my favorite stores in our neighborhood…read more They've carefully curated vintage pieces with western flair (clothing, jewelry, etc). In addition, you'll be able to find items from various eras as far back as the 30s through the 70s. I've seen some stuff there even older than the 30s. Everything is of exceptional quality and condition. Not only do they sell but they buy as well. If you've got vintage wear you'd like to get rid of, try them. They give cash or credit for things they'll buy from folks. As with most stores like this, you'll get more in store credit for your stuff. Fun fact: they've also got a location in Waco.

With a contrast of muted colors at the next-door boutique, Charm School Vintage is full of color, textures, and flavor chic. According the store manager, each piece in the shop is purchased directly and not on consignment. One rack is white to off-white bohemian chick pieces. While all clothing is vintage, there are a few modern items such as journals. The store manager was super friendly and made me feel I was the only one in the store. This was the perfect spot for anyone who loves fashion with a bit of spice. Prices are in a rather broad range - from inexpensive amount to a bit pricey.

The Esby team agreed to my rate and I showed up and did my job getting the models ready to walk the runway in the fashion show portion of the event. After the event, I sent them my invoice, which has yet to be paid. I followed up regularly, each time being told that payment is on the way, there's been an issue with their bank, and even promises that "we will be able to send the payment out by end of this week," which Esby never made good on. In June, I learned that NONE of the vendors Esby hired for #esbyfest have been paid. The company owes over $120,000 in unpaid invoices for this event -- but wait, there's more. Esby stopped paying rent on their commercial space in late 2023, meaning that Esby was aware of cash flow issues and still chose to move forward with #esbyfest in March. This is unconscionable, especially for an Austin-based business that brags about its ethical supply chain practices. I'm proud to stand with the other vendors of #esbyfest as we bring these indefensible actions to light and demand action from Esby co-owners Stephanie Beard and Gerald Tempton. The amount I'm owed isn't worth taking them to court over, but I hope some of the other vendors who are owed thousands of dollars and even tens of thousands of dollars take legal action against these fraudsters and get justice. I hope the customers who placed orders in 2023 and have yet to receive their items get their money back. The vendors of #esbyfest have come together to demand what we're owed because we know there's strength in numbers. Esby, Stephanie Beard, and Gerald Tempton: do the right thing and pay us what we're owed.
