I have enjoying visiting and revisiting farzi. The location is in the heart of downtown Bellevue, with high accessibility to parking and immediately captivates you with the exterior and interior design of the establishment. The music is a bit weird for the atmosphere, but it didn't bother us. The service was good, they seated us right away and checked in on us frequently. Even when there are little misses, the equity bucket is usually full enough that it's fine. Pricing is above average, but is not as high as ascend for example (in the same area), so makes for a good place to dine if you want something finer dining at a higher frequency. The menu does change, and usually includes a robust drink menu including cocktail selection, brief appetizer and entrees m my and some dessert. It's all Indian fusion inspired food and the plating is creative and Instagram worthy. The flavors are great. Removing stars quoting small proportions, but having absolutely no problem paying 3x more for a barebone cut of meat served raw or fluffing up a pita need a reality check on 1. The definition of appetizers, amuse bouche, vs mains and 2. The amount of effort that goes into prepping indian food. This is a fine dining establishment that's beloved and aspirational/bucket list for a lot of people in India. It's modern indian, it is authentic in flavor and modern in concept. If you've grown up in India like I have, the flavors are familiar but presented newly drawing inspiration from global trends, hence the name - farzi (fake) cafe. It started in india at a time when we were all too immature to understand the beauty of globalization and it evolved like fine wine. If you're familiar with the nuanced world of Indian cuisine which extends waaay beyond garam masala and involves slow cooking (dal makhani, fermented rotis and dosas), east west north south differences based on produce/colonization/culture), the importance of sides - dry wet chutneys, spice powders, dips, gravies, then you'd appreciate this place. If you're expecting to find a vindaloo or tikka masala neither of which are authentic or even indian in true essence, this might not be that place. We loved it. We were just 2 and wanted to experience the range, we got a bunch of appetizers and desserts and they filled us up way beyond comfortable fullness. Keep an open mind, be curious and willing, and know that you're trying a fine dine indian establishment. With these expectations, you can't have a failing experience here. In a nutshell: great food, great space, ok service. I ate at Farzi Cafe with a group, and enjoyed the fun menu. I appreciated the creativity and variety, from drinks and mocktails to dishes across the spectrum of dietary needs. The appetizers are a great start and you must order at least one to get the full experience, and ideally several. The masala guava bubble shots were fun and flavorful. The fire sourdough kulcha was my favorite app for its texture and rich flavors. Garnish with a side of naan or roti for the best experience. The Farzi paneer lababdar had a delicious, creamy flavor with a nice kick. Others at my table enjoyed the chicken dishes. For the prices, I expected a little bit better service. Staff was friendly, but orders were placed all over rather than near the person who ordered, and some naan/roti/rice orders were combined even though it was not easy to reach or constantly pass items around. He walked us through the cocktail menu. We love martinis, but hadn't heard of a Freezer martini. Just a technique, but he used high end gin and vermouth. It was delicious. He suggested a spin in arancini as a snack. Excellent! But in the menu, I had not heard of salted air as a component of a cocktail. Masala Guava Bubble Shots - beautiful presentation, so refreshing and flavorful - it was like being punched by a flavor bomb. 2. Avocado & Raw Mango Chaat - I love the different textures of this dish. Flavor-wise, it's more mellow which complements the spicier dishes quite well. 3. An elegant, modern twist of Indian cuisine located in the heart of Bellevue. I went here for Saturday dinner, reserving in advance just in case as we had a party of 8 people. For Saturday 6pm, it was overall not really a busy restaurant, and reservations can be mostly easily made even the day of. There is a lot of seating. We tried the following dishes, and I personally got the Sour Daddy cocktail which had Stroopwafel which was quite interesting. Overall, food was good but a bit overrated and pricey for what it is, but you can't sleep on the cocktails as they were pretty elite tier. Masala Guava Bubble Shots - love the dry ice that creates the smoky presentation! It is fairly fleeting so make sure to have your video, boomerangs, and pictures taken ASAP. I liked the sweet and spicy combination of this dish. One order is 6 shots, and they are non-alcoholic. Avocado and Raw Mango Chaat - the avocado is fairly ripe and soft, contrasted with the puffed rice. This is a sweet and savory dish, with a slight spiciness. Fire Chicken Sourdough Kulcha - this has one fire show where they light up the dish on fire and put the food plate on top. This is kind of like a pizza, and the chicken is nicely marinated. Tandoori Broccoli - while the dish is simple, I love the slightly crispy broccoli with the sauce which is black from the charcoal. Prawnstar - shrimp is fairly fresh and is full of curry flavor and herbs. It is a fairly spicy dish. Fire Jackfruit Chettinad - this is another fire show where they light up a towel and burns away. The jackfruit is surprisingly delicious as I have tried jackfruit in other places that didn't really do the texture to my preference. This is a fairly spicy dish as well. Signature Double Butter Dal Makhani - this is another seemingly simple dish as it is just lentils but is very buttery and full of spices. There is a mini show where they pour the lentils to the dish, which is a bit extra but I guess they want to keep the theme of being very present-y. The Black Cod - I love this dish. Cod is cooked perfectly and the sauce is sweet and creamy, hints of coconut. This is also one of the servers' favorite dishes. Lamb Shank Korma - tender, though a little dry. The fact there was a gold flake makes it fancy but a bit too ostentatious. This is also kind of like a curry dish. Malabar Chicken Biryani - chicken is dry, fairly underwhelming dish but it was good to have rice to pair with the sauces of the various dishes above. I'd skip this and get bread instead. Service could also be better given this is a upscale restaurant. This is an incredibly good restaurant. Indian food, at least the Indian food in Seattle, is rarely, if ever, presented in such a contemporary format - the food, service, and ambiance are all elevated. Our server did a great job introducing the menu and pointing out dishes. We loved the appetizer we poured pineapple juice into little shells. The main dishes were all fantastic - I especially liked the cod in a coconut based sauce. It was epic! And the sticky toffee pudding for dessert was quite nice. Cocktails also deserve a 5* rating. Farzi blew my expectations out of the water! I went for a friends birthday dinner and we had a phenomenal experience. We started with drinks, which are all so unique and hand crafted. Some of us got the zodiac drinks too which were lovely, and the staff was super helpful with recommending options based on our preferences. My one complaint is that I made a huge deal to the waiter that I was only ordering my drink for the gold foil and then he brought it out and said they had no more gold. I would have loved to have known that earlier so I could have gotten another drink. But he was slammed and it was delicious so I can forgive that. We started with some starters which were amazing! We got 4 starters for 7 people but I wish we had done two of each of 2 apps bc the portions are small. The broccoli was insane and I also loved the prawns. The waiter recommended we shared mains, but we each ordered our own instead which I think worked better since we all had different dietary restrictions. I'm gluten free and vegetarian and had tons of options. Don't expect your average Indian fare, the food here is really high end and unique. The presentation is also amazing. Everything was beautifully plated and several dishes came with smoke or a fire show. So entertaining! The vibe of the restaurant is really classy and high end. Dined here with several coworkers. Having traveled abroad and extensively across most of India, I can proudly say that this establishment hold few equals amongst some of the finest Indian cuisine I've ever had. I loved the ambiance and the vibe. It was lively but not too noisy. The service was exceptional and the waiters could read the room and bring our next plate timed to our next glass of wine and the pace of our diners consuming each dish. The staff were so polite and courteous while not being overwhelming. It was a pleasure to meet the Chef and to have him make us feel like we were important, and that our feedback mattered. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious, but it was unfortunately a pre-made soufflé. It seemed like the staff pre makes the cakes instead of a made-to-order dessert. I visited Farzi Cafe for my anniversary. We had a reservation at 7 and were seated immediately as soon as we arrived . The course size although small did pack a punch. For starters we ordered the Fire Sourdough Kulcha, Curd rice croquette. Both had wonderful flavor. The curd rice croquette did surprise me as it had the South Indian curd rice notes but presented in a unique way. As part of the main course we ordered the signature double butter dal makhani and jackfruit biryani. The jackfruit biryani didn't impress me as the rice seemed dry. But man oh man the dal makhani did not disappoint at all. We got the flourless barcode chocolate cake as desert coz of the lack of options at that time. It was okay. My friend and I ordered just the starters but I personally found it to be pricey for the amount of food we got between two people. 10/10 recommend getting the sourdough chicken kulcha probably my favorite thing out of everything we ordered. Overall the food was good although it was missing that kick of spice most desi food have and also wished the avocado chaat had more pomegranate on it. The parle g cheesecake was a bit underwhelming- I expected an actual slice of cheesecake with the biscuits incorporated into it, but was disappointed to see it was just the filling smashed between 2 biscuits. I was so excited to try Farzi Cafe! I've heard mixed reviews from friends in the area so thought it would be a good time to try it myself. Farzi is Michelin recognized in London so I had high expectations. The decor was really cool, it's nice to see a high end Indian restaurant. The music was fantastic but didn't match the vibe haha, they played a lot of Taylor Swift and some K-pop which I loved! First off, the fact that they have a mocktail menu is amazing. I wish more restaurants had mocktail menus for people who don't drink. I forgot the name of my drink but I thought it was pretty great and not too expensive. As for the foods, everything we got tasted good. The Avocado Chaat was a nice appetizer (but as my friend said, easy to make at home...). The Millet Khichdi Risotto was pretty spicy but the blueberry pickle added a nice tang. My absolutely favorite was the Double Butter Dal Makhani, it was very creamy and not spicy at all. If you like to take videos of your eating experience, this place works well for you. Lamb and CTM were very tasty. The lamb was the biggest portion, everything in the small plates section is truly bite size so I'd avoid if you are going for value. the Dal Chawal Arancini and the Puchka Tartlets were really good, just wouldn't order them again because of how little we got. Wellington with mutton seekh kebab was really good. The chicken tikka masala was the best we have ever had! The juice was really good, mix of tumeric, ginger, orange etc, though a bit pricey. The prawns were very fresh and tasty, but the chimichurri sauce was lacking a prominent flavor, it needed to be a bit spicy or tangy or something, it was very bland, which impacted the flavor of the dish as a whole. That was the only disappointment in the food. Everything else tasted amazing! I have one suggestion for the management: update your website so there is no confusion on menus. It looks like you only have one menu in the restaurant, but the website has 3 (lunch, dinner, all day)! For food we started off with mango puchka tartlets which were a party in my mouth! Highly recommend. Followed by the dal Chagall arancini! I also recommend. We then had the "bun intended" ...I only wanted a little bit more raita. We ended with CTM (chicken Tikka masala) and garlic naan plus laccha parantha. Overall a little pricey for the portions you get but it's worth checking out Dayi Kebab Mawa Bombs ($13) - I've never had these before but they were creamy and dense inside with a crispy outside. The staff was pretty attentive and checked in occasionally. We tried the pani puri, pressure cooker mutton, malabar paratha and chicken biriyani. Although not the traditional pani puri taste I was anticipating, it was an interesting twist of fusion. The presentation is top notch. The pressure cooker mutton is a delight to see being brought to the table and then mixed with spices. The curry quantity is plenty for 2-3 people IMO. The chicken biriyani is good def worth trying. I ordered the Funny girl. Also got a complimentary mini glass of champagne with edible sparkles in them. Birthday special. Puchkha tartlets: a solid pani puri that bursts into your mouth like a mini fountain. They are as light as air. Could probably eat a couple dozen of these. Dal chawal arancini: very unique, very tasty! For the main course we had the Nadru kofta and Fire Jackfruit polichattu. The kofta was quite average. It had a garnish of fried lotus root-- quite a nice touch. Otherwise too salty; the balance of flavors seemed slightly off. Jackfruit polichattu was delicious. We devoured these with roomali roti and Malabari parotta-- both delicious. Service was extremely rushed. It was quite evident the waitress wanted us to leave close to the hour. She kept hovering over our tables to make sure we are progressing with our food. I honestly don't know if there's a difference between a regular cafe or this Farzi cafe. Noise levels are pretty much comparable. And this cafe charges you an arm and leg with their eclectic menu but doesn't give you an experience to back it up. No time to savor and enjoy the food. I'm sorry Farzi. I had high hopes for you. And you definitely missed the mark. My girlfriend and I had reservations at Farzi on Saturday night. Although the space is gorgeous and a bit intimate (mind you it's on the side of the Bellevue Square Mall), I cannot say that about the food or service. Food was lack luster and missing spices/flavors. The $6 sides (avocado pickle was swimming in oil and avocados were old and black and the White Fungus needed more seasoning) were missing the mark. My drink was the best thing I had that night - The Funny Girl (get it!). Food came out lukewarm and was obviously prepared earlier, nothing was piping hot except the salmon.. And at over $250 for two people.(two drinks, two sides, two mains, one roti and five small plates) I'm still upset about that. Our service was subpar and our never checked on us after the food was delivered. And our drinks ran out. She seemed to be bothered with something which we could tell in the background once she left the table. But most importantly, with all the restaurants coming to the area I found it astonishing that the menu didn't mention which items were either V, GF or DF. I'm gluten and dairy free and when I asked our server which items didn't have gluten or dairy she had no idea and had to go to the kitchen for a cheat sheet. And even then she still couldn't answer so I had to wing it. Not good in my book. I know many of the things I had that night contained dairy and gluten (I felt horrible after) so you have been warned, especially for celiac and people with allergies. Farzi definitely doesn't live up to the hype. I've had far better Indian food in Redmond during a lunch buffet. One star for the salmon that wasn't overcooked (but was still bland) and one star for my amazingly delicious drink - the Funny Girl. read more

This is such a beautiful new restaurant in the heart of Bellevue Square. My friend read about it in the newspaper and got me excited to try it. It was easy enough to get an early reservation on a weeknight, and the service was great! Parking is a bit of a challenge, but I was able to find a spot on the 4th floor of the Belle Square parking garage by the doors/stairway down to Cactus. The server let us know everything was sort of served like tapas, so we knew what to expect. She recommended we order 5-6 dishes, which was spot on. We had 6 dishes and two bottles of rose to round out a delightful dinner out on the town. The apple tartlet starter was unique with the liquid nitrogen, but now that I've had it once, I don't see myself ordering it again. It didn't have much substance, and the portion, of course, was small. I wanted to try the burrata paneer, but our server steered us away from it. I will have to try that upon my next visit. The flaming jackfruit dish was very beautifully presented and was very flavorful. For vegetarians, this is a delicacy! The halibut curry dish was very good, and we ordered naan to dip in it. I didn't photograph the naan because it didn't look different than any others I've had.. but it was one of the best parts of the meal! It was so fresh and doughy - just thinking about it makes me hungry. Towards the end of the meal we were still a little bit hungry, so we ordered the paneer tikka dish, despite the server warning us against it (she said it was not a favorite of guests).
