My first time at this restaurant, and will definitely return! Everyone enjoyed their food, I got the mussels and fries which were amazing. Our server Callie was so kind and attentive, and made the experience so pleasant.

WHY IS THIS PLACE A 3 STAR?!? This place was absolutely AMAZING and was perfect in almost every way. Let's start on the decor, it's simple, yet it stays with a modern theme that I love. And for all of those people that say there's no music, lemme say that there was and while yes, it was quiet but it was, in fact audible. Our server was probably the nicest and most chill man I've ever seen and was constantly asking is our food was good, if we needed anything ect. He was great and wished us a good night after we were done. Finally the food, the menu was sparse but I ordered an eggplant thing and it was amazing. The flavor was perfect and the sauce was smoky yet sweet. The texture was also not tough but not soft. It was the most perfect thing I've ever had. Now my only complaint is that the outside is a bit un colorful, but that goes along with the theme so it's fine. And the menu being sparse was probably my fault since I'm pretty sure I was only looking at their specials menu. Yeah though, it was perfect and I loved it. The fact that it only has 3 stars is straight up INSANE.

My friend had french toast she said it was great

Went here for brunch , nice little place , food was great , but unfortunately if you have more then 4 people it rather tight in the place and it's not accessible. But it nice place, perfect a girl out breakfast or couples brunch or lunch . Or evening dinner .

The train station " Green line " stop is newton center it's located in front of the restaurant.

I love what Amanda & Erika have done for society. The apple cinnamon French toast was just as delicious as it was 15 days ago. We also tried the chicken sandwich, and the grilled cheese both fabulous! The chicken was super moist and flavorful. The grilled cheese was delicious, but also super rich, and paired nicely with the tomato soup! And I remembered to take pictures this time!

Came here for lunch and parking wasn't too bad, we found street parking. We got seated right away. We ordered a basket of popovers which was delicious with the jam and butter. I also got the freshly squeezed orange juice which was refreshing.5!3 grilled cheese was very thick and the cheese was rich and gooey. Tomatoes soup went well with it. We enjoyed our meal!

    Served meat that's gone bad

BEWARE of spoiled meat. We placed a large order for a dinner party. At $32+ per entree this is not an inexpensive meal. Shortly after eating, but before she noticed the discoloration, my guest said her meal tasted off and was nauseous and sick to her stomach, vomiting. Upon investigation we were grossed out and shocked to have been served (blueish/gray) spoiled meat, which had already been cooked, cut, spread and packaged by their chef. What is worse is that when I called farmstead to report the issue I was instructed to email Ericka but never even got so much as a response. So much for caring about your repeat customers. I used to recommend this restaurant to friends and now feel that I need to warn them about visiting instead. We had to wait a while to pickup our food although we called several hours ahead. We are fine with waiting for the food for an extended period but this basic food safety and quality issue and lack of customer service is unacceptable.

We've just done takeout from Farmstead Table and were very pleased with the Cioppino and pan seared Char. Very friendly staff.

Ask the Community - Farmstead Table

Anyone know what they fry in or use to cook with oil wise,? any seed oils?

Hi Olivia! We use 100% Canola in our fryer and an Olive Oil/Canola blended oil for cooking.

Which items are FULLY gluten free on the menu for people with celiac disease? (This means that they are cooked in their own pots/oils /water and the counters are sanitized before mixing gluten & non-gluten, and there is no cross contamination)?

Hi Jb! We are a scratch kitchen and are always able to make accommodations to provide a celiac friendly meal. The only things that cannot be altered are any of our breads/popovers/pastas, and occasionally, sauces. Since our menu changes frequently I… Read more

I decided to give it a try since it was only nine minutes away from where I was. When I walked in my child and I were immediately sat, and my child was provided a kids menu. My child went with the pasta and butter, which is her favorite dish from anywhere. I had the pan roasted chicken and a white sangria and for dessert we shared a caramel brownie cheesecake. This restaurant is big and spacious. It was very busy and seems to be a popular restaurant in that area. Our waiter was extremely friendly, patient and attentive. I definitely recommend this restaurant. Post-COVID, life looks a little different. I've changed jobs and moved to another town, so it's no longer the easy drop-in it once was. Still, I make a point to come back at least every few months. What hasn't changed is the consistency. This remains one of the most reliably excellent restaurants in the Boston area, and still one of my all-time top five--while others that once held that spot haven't quite held up. One thing has changed, though: the Ghost of Mary. Scotty, the former bar manager, created what's still my favorite cocktail of all time. When he left, the drink left with him (by mutual agreement), and while he generously shared the recipe with me, I've never quite managed to recreate it at home. It was clearly meant to be made by the expert. That said, Sycamore hasn't missed a beat. The space is still as comfortable and quirky as ever, the food remains consistently excellent, and the current bar program is in very capable hands. The cocktails are thoughtful and well-executed--just maybe don't remind me about the one I'm missing

Sycamore is SPECTACULAR!!!…read more Newton centre is probably one of my favorite cities for date night and afternoon shopping. They have some great places to shop and dine and Sycamore is one of them. We have been here multiple times and everytime is better than the last. From the Managers greeting to the service, and atomosphere, Sycamore sure knows how to make customers feel seen and heard and their bellies happy :) We came here after attending a wine tasting not far from here and were able to grab some bar seats. They have a great cocktail and wine list; I always have a hard time choosing just one. I went with a vodka drink called Nothing Rhymes Orange and my husband had a beer. Since we were not that hungry he ordered the Chorizo Croquettas and I had my favorite salad in the world (not kidding) their Kale Salad. Let me just tell you 1. if you don't like kale, you will love this salad. Just the way they make it and the flavors/crunch will make your mouth water 2. you will eat the whole thing. 3. trust me. If there is one app that you need to order its the chorizo croquettas, OMG. They are like little small drops of heaven and there are only 3 so if you plan to share I would recommend ordering more than just one. For dessert, we ordered an Espresso Martini. The only thing that was missing is the coffee beans but still good. Thanks Sycamore for another fabulous dinner and evening. Thanks Kale Salad for being the best ever. I know I will be back for another one sometime soon. Cheers~
