I had been wanting to come to Farmer's Table, one of my favorite bookshops is literally a block or two down the street and always manage to snag parking near Farmer's Table. My friend was visiting from out of town and she wanted to check out some book shops but we first we needed to have some brunch. We walked up and were sat right away. From the outside you would not realize how much bigger this space is but it is so roomy, there is indoor and outdoor seating. I ended up ordering the pork belly benedict with a side of refired beans, they messed up my order and so they gave me potatoes but they fixed it right away giving me a small bowl of beans. Those beans are incredible, chunks of meat and cheese ugh, just thinking about it was so good. The sope was really tender and the pork belly was so flavorful with the salsa verde. I want to come back and try their chicken tinga enchiladas! But definitely check it out, great food, great service and if you wanted to have a party here there is definitely a lot of space for it.

After our initial visit, I didn't think we'd be back, but after the manager was kind enough to reach out & try and make things right for a return visit, we were happy to give Farmer's Table another chance. We ordered the NY steak sandwich & the Birria omelette. The sandwich & fries were honestly pretty good this time around, and my boyfriend enjoyed the omelette. He was originally going to order the steak & eggs again, but after being informed this time that it was a skirt steak, he opted for the omelette and wasn't disappointed. Overall, the experience this time was much better, and left us feeling even more taken care of than the first time. A great place to try if you're looking for breakfast, brunch, or lunch!

Been wanted to try Farmer's Table since we live nearby. And it so happened that it was Restaurant Week. We had reservations so we got seated right away. We got seated outside since the weather was nice. The outdoor patio heaters and fans which was nice. Service was fast and friendly. For restaurant week I got a an appetizer, entree and dessert for discounted price. I got the duck empanadas, Salmon and tiramisu. Usually for restaurant week I was expecting portion sizes to be small but that was not the case! They all seemed like the full size which I appreciated. Duck empanadas were pretty tasty. The mole sauce though didnt have any flavor which was disappointing. The salmon was perfectly cooked. The tiramisu looked a bit sad compared to the other option of the limoncello. So there was a little regret. But it was still tasty. Overall Farmer's Table is decent. If your in the area give it a shot. But I'm not really rushing to go back.

Chicken pesto pizza

Came during restaurant week on a Tues night. Not too busy and we were able to sit on the outdoor patio. My partner got the 3 course restaurant week dishes and I got the chicken pesto pizza. He chose the duck empanadas, the salmon and the tiramisu. The duck empanadas came with two pieces and were well made but we wish there was more duck inside. Pretty skimpy on the meat. The mole sauce they served it with also didn't have a super deep flavor. The salmon was well cooked but pretty standard. Tiramisu was a little disappointing. Definitely needed a stronger coffee flavor and it was a small piece. Another person at my table got the limoncello version and that one was way better. More pronounced lemon flavor and it was presented much better. My pizza was a large size and they didn't skimp on toppings. My only knock on it is that the chicken was bad. Almost plastic-y tasting and very tough. The dough on the pizza is a standout though. Perfectly fluffy and really good flavor. Service was very friendly and fast. They didn't rush any of the courses and checked in on us a couple times.

I was not impressed with the food or the service. My kids and I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon, and the hostess let us know that they were only serving pizza and salad at that time. No problem. We were fine with that. Unfortunately, the service went downhill from there. Our waitress wasn't very welcoming and honestly seemed like she had mentally clocked out already. I understand there wasn't much to choose from, but we still felt rushed to place our order. We ordered the chicken pesto pizza, and when it came out, we didn't even have plates on the table. I'm not sure why our waitress didn't make sure we had plates before our food arrived, but I ended up having to flag down another staff member just to get some. Shortly after that, our waitress came over and told us someone else would be taking care of us. By that point, I was over the whole experience. I asked for a to-go box, packed up our pizza, paid, and left. The pizza itself wasn't anything memorable, and combined with the rushed and inattentive service, this visit was a disappointment.

A tequila strawberry thingy (with real Muddled star berries) and a dirty martini.

Happy hour! $1.50 oysters that both people loved! The pizza is a bit watery for our tastes and the crust gets soggy. Tasty but soggy. Drinks are good and the outside bar area is great.

The prosciutto burrata pizza is my absolute fave here. They also have amazing breakfast! Service is always great and friendly, and the I love the ambience on the street corner and both indoor and outdoor options. Would highly recommend!

Farmer's Table in La Mesa has such a cozy, rustic vibe, and their signature pizzas are a must-try fresh ingredients, perfectly crisp crust, and full of flavor. It's the kind of spot that makes you want to linger over good food and good company. 9/10

Steak And Eggs

CUTE LOCATION, farm to table. We ordered a peach liquor mimosa + the better together elderflower hibiscus drink. Drinks were good. The steak and eggs and potato didn't have really any flavor, it came with a sauce but I think the meat should be marinated or seasoned. It was medium rare but very chewy. I'd come hack to try a salad or something with a dressing, or a sauce.

Red Chilaquiles

We came on a Sunday early morning 8:30am and there was plenty of seating. We also had dogs in our group and we were accommodated in their outside patio in front of the restaurant. The service was good and our server was friendly. The inside of the restaurant is spacious, has a bar and the outside patio has plenty of seating as well. By the time we left, the patio was full and the inside was pretty full too. We ordered two sets of Omelettes (California and Ensenada) and two sets of chilaquiles (red and poblano). The food was very tasty and everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed their meals. We were especially impressed by the poblano chilaquiles (they had a nice kick to it). Overall, we would go back.

Nutella Pancakes
Alan N.

Came in for bday brunch and they did not disappoint. Our server Alicia was awesome. Was quick, fast, and friendly. We picked a good time with no wait. Very clean upscale surrounding with an upbeat R n B vibe. Kids shared the French Toast with strawberries which they completely murdered. The wife had the chilaquiles. Sauce was amazing and presentation was gorgeous. I went with the Nutella pancakes that came with a generous amount of Nutella, and the pancakes had the right crisp and fluff topped with banana, blackberries, and strawberries. The bloody Mary itself was a breakfast itself, but the mix was just right. Bartenders kiss on that! Definitely will be back for a lunch experience.

Sharon B.

Really great restaurant in cute downtown La Mesa! Meet a friend here for lunch at her suggestion and it did not disappoint. We were seated on their front patio so we didn't really see the inside of the restaurant but it looks cute from all the photos. Maybe next time! We ordered the Farm to Table garden salad and the red salsa chilaquiles. Our moms would be so proud of us for cleaning our plates. Lol. Both dishes were delicious and had beautiful presentations too. Parking is time limited on the streets in front of the restaurant. I parked in the neighborhood side streets without issues and it was a quick walk to the restaurant.

Farmer's Table Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Farmer's Table

Are they open on Christmas?

Yes open for regular hours on Christmas Eve & Day!

Is there a private lot or only street parking?

There is a parking lot behind the building but it is typically full. There is lots of street parking as well

Bottomless mimosas available?

No $8 a glass $26 a bottle

Do they take reservations on Fridays?

They have a phone.

Is your Bloody Mary mix gluten free?

not sure

Vegan options? :)

Yes. If you look at the menu on their website they mark everything that's vegan.

Are they open on Veterans Day?

Apparently they are until 9:00

Are dogs allowed?

Yes they are. They have an open patio and allow dogs there. 😊

Don't see house wine on the menus?

Don't worry about it. Just go. The wine selection is amazing there

Can I bring my little puppy?

Yes, our patio is dog friendly.

When ordering the "Barn Yard" bloody mary for 4 people, is it mandatory to have 4 people? If I come with 1 other person, does it equate to both of us having 2 drinks?

Yes, you can order with one other person. Just be aware their pretty filling and strong!

Is this place organic?

Most of our produce and fruits are from local organic farms. We try to get fresh ingredients as much as possible depending on the season some items might not be available then we buy from elsewhere.

Are there vegetarian options that aren't on the menu? I don't see a lot for dinner and lunch options ( I don't like portobello mushrooms or tomato sauce based pasta).

They may be willing to do something special. In my case, because I avoid onions and garlic, they made a pasta tossed with vegetables in olive oil. The taste wasn't that great though. In our party we had several vegetarians -- one got the pasta,…

Do they have pepperoni pizza?

Yes we do!

Is there a kids menu or kid options?

Yes, absolutely! We have a kid’s menu for lunch & dinner.

Is this Football friendly?

I don't think they have TV. It's definitively not a sport bar but a very nice restaurant for brunch and dinner with amazing decor, yummy food and delicious drinks!

Do they have happy your specials?

I would watch out for their bloody Mary's we got sick off of their meats they kept on the counter. They even had fly droppings The guy didnt wash his hands Not Once ever!

Is the breakfast pizza coming back? Tried to order it even though it's now off the menu and the server said there was no way. It was my husband's favorite! ☹️

Find it hard to believe they couldn't make it, as one would think they still had all the ingredients since they still offer pizza, however I see they have a note that says pizza is after 11a.m. Maybe they don't light up the pizza oven until then?…

Are dogs allowed by any chance?

Yes, outside on the patio. We bring our schnauzer all the time !

Will they be adding more pasta dishes in the future?

Yes, the menu changes very frequently, adding pasta and other dishes. Also, look out for our daily specials

We have been to Toasted probably 5 or so times since moving to La Mesa and love it! We definitely…read morerecommend it. AMBIANCE: The ambiance is very nice. The restaurant is cute and not too noisy. There is an indoor and outdoor area. SERVICE: We have never had a bad service experience at Toasted. Our waitress today in particular was great. My niece wanted a mimosa without alcohol, and she happily accommodated and even suggested adding some soda water to make it more like a mimosa. FOOD & DRINKS: In the many times we have been there, we have had the following; DRINKS: -Mimosa Flight: Too be honest, I did not love the flight. The Prickly Pear was my favorite, but I tend to prefer sweeter drinks, and I would say overall, the cocktails are not super sweet there, which for many people is a plus (just not me). -Lavender Cocktail - Good but also not super sweet -Chai Latte - I have had it hot and iced and liked it both ways FOOD: -Santa Fe Scramble - My favorite dish I have tried to date. Our waitress compared it to tortilla soup in an egg dish, and I would say that's a new perfect description except I think this is way better than tortilla soup -Denver Scramble - Very good and would order again -Breakfast Sammy - Good. A typical breakfast sandwich, so if that's what you're in the mood for, get this. That being said, I wouldn't say there is anything that sets this breakfast sandwich apart from others. -Stuffed French Toast - Good but not my favorite. Would not order again. -Fried Chicken Benny - Good but not a standout that I would order again -Breakfast Quesadilla - Just okay. Nothing was wrong with it, but I would not get it again and would do the Santa Fe Scramble over this. -Sliders - My favorite lunch item. They are the same as the old Sammy's sliders (this location used to be a Sammy's) -Red Velvet Pancakes - Good but very rich -Chocolate Chip Pancakes - Great and very fluffy with excellent texture Overall, even though not every food item or drink is a hit for me personally, that's the case at pretty much any restaurant, and there are some great items and the food, service, and ambiance are great

Overall pretty restaurant with great natural Lighting but it still needs to prove itself in the flavor department.
